We were returning customers after a pleasant experience in 2015, we bought a new sofa April 2020 after moving into our new home. It was delivered within weeks, and initially we were happy with it.
A few months in and one of the sofas (most used one in front of TV) started to develop issues, the inner foams for the seat pads seemed to be breaking up, and the arm rests seemed to be retracting leaving dips in the cushioning. Over the months this issue got worse, and started to appear on the other sofa too, which was only used when we had guests, which wasn't often due to Covid. It got to January 2021 and I knew Trade Sofas was still closed due to lockdown in Scotland, but I wanted to report the issues as the sofas were under warranty. I emailed in January 2021 and got a response to say they were closed / furloughed but if I could send supporting pictures etc, someone would deal with my issue when they reopened. I sent supporting pictures and full explanation of what was wrong.
Fast forward to June 2021 and still no one has been in touch, so I get in contact again. Firstly they told me they had been so so busy since opening on 5th April 2021 ( yes over 2 months ) and this is why they hadn't been in touch, but the truth is they had no record of my contact in January. They denied any contact was made in January and claimed I did not send photos. At this point I forwarded them the original emails which clearly shows the conversation with Nicole and the pictures attached.
They then asked me to take further pictures which I did, and sent them off as requested. They advised they were going to speak to their supplier and send them the photos and come back to me. Bearing in mind I was told in January they would have someone out to assess the issue, and repair or replace where necessary. Another 3 weeks go by with me chasing frequently for updates, and they stop replying to my emails. I got in contact with them via their Facebook page (messenger) where they did respond and after a day or 2 they came back with this:
"The sofas look like they have been used incorrectly, the weight has been put on the middle of the sofa and also one arm consistently, this will cause the cushions to gape in the middle and the indentation to one arm in particular, rather than the seats being used evenly. There is also some red colouring on the sofa, this looks like some colour transfer. unfortunately our warranty does not cover this type of issue."
So bearing in mind no one has been out to see the sofas, and myself and wife are in our 40's and we know how to sit on a sofa correctly, the above is utter S**te. No one has sat on the arms of the sofas, and the seat pad of the sofa is for sitting on, I didn't realise you needed a masters degree in sitting on a sofa these days, but it looks like this this is the case.
In summary Trade Sofas do not want to / or cant honour the warranty on a sofa. They will sell you a warranty with it, but will walk away if you have any issues blaming you for the defects, and accusing you of not using it correctly. They did not send out someone to look at it, and lost our information several times. The responses were rude from them when I did contact them, and they lied several times. We are now going down an alternative route to get our money returned.
Stay away from these clowns, circuses were designed for entertainment not selling sofas.
