What a fantastic place for food and drink.
Something for everyone here and the quality is really high with very reasonable prices too.
The staff are just so nice and cheery and that makes all the difference.
Well, this is an update on my previous review and sadly, this one isn't any better ... after complaining directly to Traquair, the manager contacted my friend who had originally booked it and promised to be in touch the following day after speaking to house keeping ... he didn't get back and my friend had to contact him .. his excuse was and I quote "it's a new cleaner and I'll fire them" ... well if that was a new cleaner, then the previous cleaner obviously didn't do their job either as the accumulated dirt and grime wasn't from one unsuccessful cleaning !!!!!
My friend reiterated this, explaining about the out of date food - 27th July - almost a full month out of date etc, as I said already, used pieces of toilet roll, dirty socks, fridge not cleaned, oh and apparently the spare duvet with suspected blood stains was supposedly spilt nail varnish ? So why was this left in the spare bedding cupboard, which I forgot to mention, had no shelves so the duvet & pillows were on the floor !!!!!
He offered a small discount on a future visit but was told "Why would we ever want to come back" ?
He was meant to get back to my friend today with some sort of compromise but no luck, she tried to contact him again but he hasn't bothered to be in touch ....
This is a "Family Run Hotel with Self Catering Cottages which are Dog Friendly" - quite frankly, our experience and the disgraceful way our complaint has been handled, not even offering a percentage of our money back and a proper apology has ensured that we will NOT be giving them any repeat business and I wouldn't let my dog stay there, never mind a human ... and if we hadn't been visiting another friend in the area, we would have packed up and left the first night
I would look elsewhere if you want to visit Innerleithen because it really is a beautiful place to see, the scenery is amazing, it's a shame it was marred by a filthy cottage and owners who obviously couldn't care less as long as they've got their money !!!!!!!!
