A complete disaster !! Most of positive comments are fake, the site often hide the truth about what people really think

A one-stop shop for first-hand experience
Trip Advisor is a one-stop shop for feedback on just about any destination you can imagine. There's nothing like hearing about restaurants, cutural and historical sites, activities and more directly from people that have experienced them.

Travel advices
I travel a fair bit, and do look at Trip Advisor to select hotels around my areas of stay.
Then of course it is up to you to make up your mind and select your best spot.
Lots of travellers advices there, but every individual have their own ideas and ideals which will reflect their comments..so beware that they are not always right.
super support
Outil d'information très utile .
J'ai beaucoup apprécié l'implication multinational de l'application .
Efficient
I really find trip advisor fantastic for one reason. Frequently you go to places , and you want to give great feedback, because you want people to enjoy the same fantastic experience...I love that side of trip advisor. So Far I have not seen any fruitless bashing. I think it shows the joy of discovering new places, and I always have a little look before going somewhere outside of my city ;) x
Extremely useful, but could do better
For the most part I find TA useful when booking a trip and appreciative of my own reviews. There are however areas which could be improved. One is the maps, where some of the hotels, restaurants or sights are in the wrong place. Admittedly I haven't noticed this so much recently. Another problem is the way attempts to review some places are simply refused. I have had this experience with an excellent Chinese restaurant in Strasbourg, for example. The Google translations are not always reliable, especially from more "exotic" languages like Japanese, although there may be little you can do about that.
The most important thing is to safeguard your independence and continue to give the impression of travellers talking to other travellers, not some cosy deal with inspectors vulnerable to bribery.
My preferred site to help choosing hotels..
I have become a regular user of TripAdvisor: I spend ca. 60 nights in hotels /annum) and am keen on min standards (cleanliness/beds) & price.
I am reasonably confident in TripAdvisor to provide a trustworthy rating of hotels. To get that confidence, I have become a contributor myself so that I could understand the "rating process" and criteria that are taken into account.
The criteria are rather basic, but more complexity/details might be un-manageable.
The pitfall of the rating is that in many hotels, not all rooms are identical: if they are offered a good room, then the rater will give a greater mark than if they have been less lucky (smaller, noisier, wornout... room). Perhaps raters should give their room number...
The great thing is the comment box: it helps understanding the negative marks and sometimes moderating the over-rated marks..
The last great thing with TripAdvisor is the "tag" with the average mark and best price that appears on the map when you are looking at a selection of hotels. Very handy...
Well done, Keep at it.
This works 100 %
I always check with trip advisor before booking a hotel or a restaurant, it works each time! Great system!
