I wish I would’ve read these reviews…

I wish I would’ve read these reviews before I just paid off my mortgage and Truist made it very hard to do and then they called me and said that I didn’t send it before 2 PM Eastern time and my bank did send it before then so Truist basically ripped me off for 300 and something dollars! Don’t do your mortgage with them move it if you can

I have been a member with this bank…for more then 41 years

I have been a member with this bank since 1984. In 1993 I went in with a large check to deposit into my account because I sold my house and made a profit. Needed to build another. I asked to open a savings account, the guy at the desk looked me up and down, in my slightly dirty overall shorts, because I was mowing the lawn. And said ..”oh, honey, you need $500 to open an account”..Not knowing what my check said, or, that I had three accounts already there. I looked at him and showed him my check and walked across the street and was welcomed, to open an account in another bank. Never to put any big checks in there again. A few weeks ago, I accidentally, typed in ONE wrong number, in a zelle that I sent. The other person on the other end absolutely took it, even tho I immediately tried to get it back, realizing I messed up “A”number. Called the bank immediately and they refused to credit me for the one mistake, that I had made, in over 40 years. It wasn’t even much money, but it was the principal of the consistent disrespect for their clients.
Only enough for my direct deposits and withdrawals will remain until I have time to change this too.
I have only positive reviews elsewhere. It says a lot, to read negativity from me.

I am a original American Bank customer…

I am a original American Bank customer and bought out by BB&t and now Truist. I le working and go into my local branch today and 2 people working. No relationship Banker on site. I go to the Main Street Truist. One Relationship banker, 9 empty offices and 4 customers waiting. The "Gentleman" after 20 minutes came out and said he would be with us as soon as possible. I ask are all the other Relationship Managers. He responded in a very hateful way. I was shocked as I have been banking there since 1989. I am no millionaire but have considerable amount of money there. Reconsider another Bank!

Poor customer service

At bank to get one paper out of my safety deposit box. Should be quick in and out right? 2 people working, 1 teller working the window and drive up with over 20 minute wait. 1 person helping all the others. 5 people ahead of me and 45 minutes waiting already . They want our money but won’t hire enough people serve their customers.

No customer service

No customer service. All automated. I just want to pay my mortgage and they make it very difficult. I should be able to easily pay online but they want me to call and put me on hold for ever. I didn't even choose this bank but Truist bought my mortgage from another company. I would say any financial institution that makes it difficult for you to pay your bills is trying to get you to pay late fees or default.

Never trust a bank that has many complaints

Hi, so I've never wrote reviews on companies unless I received excellent customer service, which is very rare from some companies. But recently I was an account holder with truist bank for about maybe close to 6 months. My account recently got hacked which I knew nothing about until I was emailed this by the bank, as well as receiving two letters in the mail. On 12/31/2025 I tried to resolve the situation and see who they might have found that tried to hack my account with the fraud team, and I was placed on hold for about a few minutes, and the representative came back to tell me that the fraud team said that truist bank no longer wanted to business with me and that I was banned from using them even though I wasn't in the wrong. I was confused as to why was I being punished for some hacker getting into my account, mind you that I only use this account whenever I needed to pay bills or put money on their as backup for any other type of expenses. I would not recommend this bank to anyone, but everyone experience is different than mines. But I stand by on what I said!

Disputed a credit card charge

Disputed a credit card charge; was taken off the same day.
A week later, received a form requesting specifics; I called Customer Service when I realized the charge was back on my credit card.
I called customer service and explained the situation;
a) Charge was initially removed.
b) It is now back on my card and received today a
three-page form to complete to have charge
removed.
c)Customer Service gave me multiple "Yes Sir"(s)
without telling me if the company had
disputed the chargeback (they had not
provided computer tech help. While I was on
hold I solved the issue myself and hung up
without talking to a technician.)
d) I gave up with the Truist client support person
and will fill out the form and email it to the
Truist operations center (wish they had an
online form)
e) Please get an online form for these disputes.
f) I may start using my other credit card for
everything and use Truist credit card for
small, occasional purchases.

Update: I resolved issue with the vendor.
I realize now probably that initial credit by the bank was a
mistake and later corrected it
and sent me the form.

Unethical and immoral

They said they haven't been able to refund any overdraft charges in the last 4 years because I dont "carry a high enough balance ". If I had more money this wouldn't be an issue. Profiting off the poor is not cool. Immoral and unethical. Never disliked a bank more. Leaving this week

Liquidity problems or just awful management

As a longtime (over 25 years) customer of Truist and it’s predecessor names, I have concluded that it must be the worst regional bank for customer service and banking.

You cannot expect a straight answer from customer service and bank staff is essentially unreachable. Lengthy deposit holds on US Government checks shows they may be in a liquidity crunch.

Iam seriously considering a switch to a bank that cares about the customer and honors our loyalty and the level of assets we maintain there.

I absolutely cannot recommend this institution for a new customer.

Truist Will Block Your Money and Leave You Stranded — No Help Until You File a Government Complaint

I am writing this as a serious warning: do not trust Truist with your money, especially if you travel or live abroad.

Truist blocked access to my account containing thousands of dollars after a routine Zelle attempt. I was outside the U.S. at the time. From that moment on, I had no access to my own funds.

Here’s the part that should scare anyone:

• Truist refused all alternative identity verification
• They demanded I appear in person at a U.S. branch, knowing I was abroad
• They would not close the account
• They would not release my funds
• Repeated calls led nowhere — representatives openly admitted they could not help

I was effectively left stranded with no solution.

Only after I filed an official complaint with the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (a federal government regulator) did anything happen.

And here’s the most telling part:

Truist did not apologize.
They did not contact me.
They did not explain anything.

They simply silently restored access, as if nothing had happened.

So let that sink in:
Multiple phone calls = no help
Government complaint = problem magically disappears

That tells you everything you need to know.

This wasn’t about security — it was about lack of process, lack of accountability, and total disregard for customers. If I hadn’t known to escalate to a federal regulator, my money would still be inaccessible.

If you:
• Travel
• Live internationally
• Depend on reliable access to your funds
• Expect basic communication or accountability

Do not use Truist.

I am closing my account immediately and moving to a bank that understands modern banking and treats customers with basic respect.

Put your money elsewhere

Way to go! Holding my paycheck for two weeks during the Holidays is top notch BS!! Mobile deposit on the 12/18 won't be available until 12/30!!! I would have another DD payroll check by then. The worst customer service. I've been banking with them for a year with my salary paycheck direct deposited. Totally left stranded with all my auto pay bills not paid and no funds for the Holidays. Then to be told it was nothing they could do, they couldn't reverse the deposit AND EVERY BANKING INSTITUTION IS DIFFERENT all while eating whatever the "manager" was eating. TRASH! Will definitely take my money elsewhere and suggest every one else do the same.

Truist Soddy-Daisy bank location.

Truist Soddy-Daisy bank location.
You should schedule an appointment to repair your telephone system. Either your telephones are inoperable, you ignore phone calls, you don’t reply to voicemails or too much lack of concern for providing customer service.

I cant even make my first payment…

I cant even make my first payment because their online system wont accept it and some random lady in god know what area of the world (speaks very poor English) wants me to give her my banking info to make the payment. That makes absolutely no sense. I would trust an online system over a person.

I’ve been with the bank for 25 plus YEARS!

I’ve been with the bank for YEARS!! Been through mergers and name changes with them. In the last year they have definitely made me lose all trust and loyalty. My ID was stolen and I tried to go into MY LOCAL BRANCH that knows me to deposit cash into my checking account on Friday. They REFUSED to deposit cash into my account without my ID. I explained my ID was stolen and I needed to deposit this cash. They REFUSED. I asked to speak to a manager, waited 20 mins for him to finish helping a customer in his office. After the customer left his office, I walked into his office. He was nice at first, I guess thinking I wanted to open an account or something but once he found out I wasn’t happy about them not depositing the cash, he told me he still wasn’t finished with the last customer and asked me to step out of his office!!! After he was finished playing on the computer, I asked for it in their policies and procedures about requiring an ID to deposit cash. He got on his computer and asked someone where it was in writing. Then he printed me off a 50 page book and showed me one line that said “you will be asked to present your ID for making deposits and cash loan payments (something like that)”. I asked him why that was because there was literally one line about this and didn’t explain anything, he couldn’t tell me why. After me waiting 20 mins for the manager, arguing with him a few mins, then him having to get permission to allow me to make the deposit without an ID (that’s some kind of manager that can’t even make exceptions in his own branch), it dawned me “Wait……can’t you make a cash deposit in the ATM?!?!?” I asked him that and he said “you know, you are right, you can.” I said “then why would y’all tell the customer “no you can’t do that” when you could offer them another suggestion for their issue. He said “you have a very good point. We will from now on!” Total waste of my time and they were rude, so they got that same energy back. Treat your customers the way you would like to be treated and you will be a better bank/company!!

Cheapest bank I ever dealt with

Cheapest bank I ever dealt with. I have accounts in several banks. All except Truist do transfers for free, and your money is transfered by the next day. Truist charges $6 for a next day transfer. They charge $3 for a 3 business day transfer. If you submit a transfer on Wednesday it won't be in the other account until the following Monday. If there is a holiday involved your transfer will take SIX days. And they have the gall to charge you for this!

Horrible bank!!!! Unprofessional team and ignorant service by bank and its staff! Dont work with this bank if you dont want get stressed every time you deposit money. No matter how much you deposit, TRUIST will always find it suspicious! I deposited my paycheck 3 days ago before 5 pm. Of course of course TRUIST held it that time and the message said if not today then the next business day you will get your money, well I have been waiting for 3 days for that check- for my salary and guess what I call them and they say , Truist got confidential information about your check and will hold it 10 more days!!!! TRUIST IS A BIG FRAUD ITSELF!!! We have 3 accounts in this bank and one is business , but today decided to close all 3! I explained my situation, said I need to get my money, release the hold and the supervisor's vision was only enough to say I apologize - and zero help! I am so much upset with this bank, its staff and service! No customer support, or understanding! This bank is FRAUD! I wish I could put them 0 zero!
