BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU IF YOU GO NEAR THIS OUTFIT …

I agreed to pay the full asking price for a VW Passat on the explicit verbal agreement that the timing belt and water pump would be replaced prior to collection using quality parts akin to main-dealer standards, estimated by the dealership at around £200. After collecting the car I discovered that an entry-level budget kit had been fitted instead—costing only a fraction of what was discussed and agreed. The part that they fitted is available from a number of suppliers priced at £88.99 including VAT and delivery.
When I politely queried this discrepancy via email, the response was dismissive, arguing that because the dealership paid for the parts and fitted them at an affiliated garage, (to which they claim to have paid the going rate for labour costs), that I should be grateful rather than question the quality.
This was especially frustrating because the £200 "cost" of this belt replacement had already been used as leverage to refuse any goodwill regarding a missing second key. The car was originally advertised with two keys, yet it was only slipped into conversation after a deal was agreed that there was only one, accompanied by a sales pitch about why a modern keyless car only "needs" one key.
While the car itself drives well at this point, the aftercare and integrity around what was verbally promised versus what was actually delivered fell well short of expectations. I can only hope that the car does not fail on me because I can envisage a battle If I have to go through the "Warranty" that has come with the sale. If you buy from here do not take it for granted that what the "friendly ‘sss’salesman” is telling you is the gospel truth. Take your time before you make any kind of decision…Ensure every single detail - from the exact make/brand of replacement parts to the number of keys is written explicitly into the sales contract before handing over any money.
I trusted these people... I absolutely should not have done.
Typical second hand car dealer blagg artists..
