NEVER AGAIN

Booked a table for myself and my partner for the valentines dining experience. This was our first time at Turtle Bay and will be our last too.
Arrived at 8:00pm for dinner seated by a two seater right next to the door so constantly kept feeling the cold breeze when the door opened. Then one of the staff finally came to take our order at 8:25pm.
Considering we were stuck in the corner everytime we tried to get the attention of any member of staff they would constantly be trying to change directions.
Nothing came to us at all. It got to 8:52pm and a member of staff came over and introduced her selves to us saying she will be our waitress for the evening and that she will like to take our order. We informed her that we placed an order already but it’s taking longer than anticipated. She didn’t come back. It came to 9:10 and we complained to her and said we haven’t even had our drinks yet. Still no drinks, nothing.
I was able to speak to the man that took our order and I just told him we would like to just cancel our order and leave because at this point it’s 9:15pm, we have had nothing come to us, not even drinks. Considering it’s valentines, this really ruined our evening as we were left with no food. Then around 9:25/26pm the starters came out but we advised the lady that we already requested to speak to the manager as we would like to leave and have been left for over 1 hour 25 mins with nothing. She apologised but ultimately the experience was unacceptable and probably the worst experience we have ever faced what so ever.

We have heard negative stories from others and seen reviews but thought that at least the service would be excellent for Valentine’s Day but clearly that was not the case.

Worst experience ever

We booked a bottomless brunch for valnetines day. We expected ro be busy.
But the lacknof organisation and flow was wild.

We was seated on time after 15 mins are order was taken. We was told bar was busy and we woukd get likely 6 drinks in our time for the booking, ok.

Half hour later no drink..my food was brought out. I had no cutlery . I ate my food and my husbands food was still not out

By time I finished my food his came out still no drink.
He finished his food still no drink. Nearly 1 hour in we was delivered our first drink.

Adter we had eaten and food was hot. No water no nothing our mouths was on fire.

We asked a server he said he wepukd check for us and never sis he wondered around we asked him again he said he would and he dis the same thing it was hilarious to watch him just not do it upon being asked twice

One hour 45 mins later no secound drink we asked for hour bill. Half hour later bill arrives

People were walking out like us. The table next to us of 6 people had been there 2 hours and not even had a main meal ..and only 2 drinks.

It was hurendous experience and we payed £50 for the pleasure of a hurendous experience.

Being busy is one thing choosing to over book or not have responsible things in place to manage it at that height is discusting.

I won't come in again because its clear profit far out ways the customers experience.
There was no organisation, team working together was not there.
Apart from one man who was amazing he had a strippy jumper on he wasn't our server but he was running around checking in and coukd see was picking up the slack off alot of the lazy staff

And they were lazy because ive never seen servers during such a busy period wander around like its a Sunday when there were so many drinks that needed to be brought out that was just sat on the bar.

Maybe if a team manger or a higher member of staff actually trained their servers to understand how to work a busy shift it woukd not have been like that.

We recently visited Turtle Bay…

We recently visited Turtle Bay Nottingham for their Valentine’s 2-for-£20 menu and the whole experience was genuinely outstanding from start to finish. We’d also received an email promotion offering two complimentary cocktails for booking before the 7th, which was a lovely extra touch.

I’m disabled and use an electric wheelchair, and I can’t praise the team enough for how accommodating and thoughtful they were. We arrived earlier than our booking due to awful weather changing our plans, and nothing was too much trouble. Our booking was moved forward without any fuss, a suitable table was found straight away, and we were seated with smiles all round.

Menus were brought over promptly, everything was clearly explained, and we were given table water. The table was set beautifully with a candle and even had dominoes to play, which added to the relaxed, fun vibe. The music and atmosphere were spot on, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of great banter. You could tell they genuinely enjoy what they do.

We both ordered the same: sweetcorn fritters with mango molè to start, followed by the half rack of ribs in sweet rum sauce with mac and cheese and slaw. While we waited, our complimentary Sitri cocktails arrived and they were so refreshing and much bigger than expected. We then had Cokes with our meals, served in large bottles with ice and a slice of lime, which felt like a nice little touch.

The food was absolutely out of this world. The fritters were beautifully crisp with a great hit of spice from the sauce. I’ve never been to the Caribbean, but for a moment it felt like I was there. And the ribs… wow. Crispy on the outside, melt-in-the-mouth tender as you got further in, with a sauce that was warming yet sweet. The mac and cheese was creamy, comforting, and honestly like a warm hug in a bowl. Every part of the meal felt indulgent and full of flavour.

The value was fantastic too. £20 for two courses for two people, with just an extra £4 each for the ribs, plus drinks. For the quality, portions, atmosphere, and service, that’s amazing value for money.

I genuinely can’t fault this place. It’s not our first visit and it definitely won’t be our last. Whether you’re going for food and drinks or just popping in for cocktails at the bar, you’ll leave smiling, well-fed, and in a great mood. A solid 10/10 from us.

The most amazing evening

The most amazing evening, the food was amazing 3 courses without a single complaint. The bottomless drinks were a highlight, but the star of the show was our server (Gem) 1st class service! Quality all around. Thank you.

This review is specific to the Victoria…

This review is specific to the Victoria St venue in Liverpool.

Following a relatively negative experience at the Hanover street branch, I took my friend for his first bottomless brunch at the Victoria Street venue for his first bottomless brunch!!

All of the staff were great, the food was fantastic and the drinks far exceeded expectations.

The clear stand out, and prompt for me to take the time to leave a review is due to Ellie.
She was extremely personable, made my friend’s first bottomless brunch experienced something he will never forget.

Restored my faith in Turtle Bay.

Thank you Ellie, and thank you Victoria Street Turtle Bay!

Lovely manager!

The manager at Exeter was lovely and helpful and we had a perfect table. The only downside was that the salmon was £14.95 with a bit of “creamed veg” (no idea what the veg was, so that was a total mystery, along with it not having any cream). It was a tiny portion if you were where to have this as a meal. We shared this as it said it’s “perfect for sharing” on the menu, but it was literally two mouthfulls each (the small salmon pieces you get from the shops) 1” x 4” ish. I would have done this at home so personally, it wasn’t special to me and didn’t want me to go back again. The cocktail was lovely but would like to see other cocktails other than rum as I know lots of people don’t like it but like the atmosphere in there. The brownies I would have again especially with the coconut ice cream. The menus are also new branding which I loved as an artist/designer but feel like it needs to be more funky like it used to be and not follow everyone else’s style.

Gone down hill

Turtle bay used to be a fantastic place to eat.
Lately it's really gone downhill. The menu has changed and become more tapas like.
Lots of items have gone from the menu.
Menu options just taste really bland.
True various dishes over a few visits and all really flavourless and a few dishes actually weren't nice.
Portions have got smaller and quite a lot of bland food. Have been 3 times recently each time thinking I may have picked a bad dish but I can't say I have enjoyed anything.
The chicken roti was really poor and the fish fritters were just unfrozen and fried and hard.
Jerk sauce was really watery on the chicken.
Condiments removed from tables and not available at all.
Even with the offers/ vouchers they give you I think that's probably my last visit to them.
Which is a shame because for a number of years the food has been great.

Early closing

Came out of the Lowry Theatre friday night and went into Turtle Bay for a drink only to be told they were closed!?! Its 10.30 on a friday night with hordes of people streaming out of the theatre opposite and you decide to close. What type of business acumen is that in an industry supposedly crying out for money and moaning about business rates! Here’s a random idea. How about a bit more actual SERVICE!!

Give this franchise 12 months…

First visit and definitely my last at the Turtle bay (Camden), the only person to get any kind of service was who im assuming the manager who positioned her self next to the bar and either ate nonstop or constantly interrupted the barman .

This is my 3rd visit out of the 4…

This is my 3rd visit out of the 4 recent months and yesterday definitely wasn’t up to satisfactory ( service wise and being pushed off our table to go to the bar only for our tables not to be used!!)
Southampton , I had the coconut chicken curry and my friend Tracy had the jerk sausage pizza ( the drinks orders were very slow ) also we were under the impression it’s an 2 hour slot . When we arrived at Southampton at 1250 our orders weren’t taken until 1310/1315 and they didn’t flow as recent visits . It was very quiet and didn’t get busy until about 1430/1500 onwards so there was plenty of opportunity for our drinks to be quicker and take more orders from us . There were ample staff so no excuses … booking reference for turtle bay is BKYT92WM.
