This bank will leave you homeless living under the bridge

After being a client of the Milan branch, I have only one recommendation for Unicredit customers. Never ever leave the city where your Unicredit branch is. Or you might end up in a foreign country without a single penny for many weeks.

My phone and debit card got stolen in Paris. I called Unicredit and got assured that a new debit card will arrive by post within 7 business days. In reality, the card arrived after 23 (!!!!!) days. Makes me wonder if Unicredit is so stuck in the past that they still use horses as their transportation method.

So after 23 days spent in a foreign country without ANY money I finally receive my card. I thought that's when my suffering finally ends but that was just the beginning. Tried calling the customer service to find out the PIN of the new card. The number doesn't even work. Completely unavailable. The specialist in chat tells me to find out the PIN via mobile banking app.

Sounds easy, right? I wish. To install the mobile banking app on a new phone which I had in place of the stolen phone, YOU HAVE TO GO TO YOUR BRANCH. How am I supposed to transport myself from Paris to my branch in Milan with inactive debit card that I don't even know PIN of? Unicredit doesn't care, they're too busy using your money.

You'd suggest logging into online banking instead? That would be nice but the ONLY way to log into online banking is with mobile token which is generated by the mobile app. And to get the mobile app...well you already know.

Each time I see homeless people living under the bridge I'm quite certain they started off as Unicredit clients. Beware.

They blocked my accounts

They blocked my accounts, and access to all my funds, INTENTIONALLY, because they were missing some personal information. They never called to ask for the info! They said I should speak to my personal banker to update, and when I tried, I was told she was on holiday!
Meanwhile, I don't have access to the funds for payments! And they continue to charge me as usual! Unreal. The WORST.

A horror called UniCredit

Like everyone else here I want to give a big ZERO to this joke called bank!!!
I had to acquire a credit card with iban in order to be able to receive my scholarship. It has been a month now and I didn't get the card! Nobody knows where the card is, how long should I wait... Of course NO ONE there speaks English and no one tries to help! Completely unprofessional and ill-mannered! Especially the staff of Via Roma, Palermo.
I know they will not read this and they will not try to improve their rotten system but I want to warn anyone coming to Italy and for whatever reason needs to have a bank account here: HAVE DEATH AT THE STAKE ANY DAY AND NEVER A UNICREDIT ACCOUNT

A perspective of a foreigner (non-Italian)

Due to personal issues, I had moved to Italy. I chose Unicredit as my bank and opened an account there without any kind of problems.

I was told to always use the respective application on my phone to always keep track of my account and balance.

But there is on big disadvantage. Whenever I had an issue that I wanted to resolve, and typically such issues were kind of important and required their help, I could NEVER solve them no matter how hard I was trying. Either by calling the customer service and/or going to the branches. How come a banking system does not have a universal-English speaking:
1) phone menu
2) operators

Even the phone application took a couple of months in order to become bilingual.

After many hours of me trying to get in touch with operators I was explaining that I would like to speak with in English, I was put on hold and then the line was closed while I was waiting. Or, my phone number was requested in order for them to call me back, which of course was never the case.

Overall, as a non-Italian citizen, you just kinda wish to not have a problem that requires the bank's help. At least that's the feel that I got from the 2 years that I've been using their services.

Worst banking experience I’ve ever had!

I’m a client at Unicredit for 20 years holding business and private account. I opened my accounts in the town of Alghero in Italy.

Since the new director works there the service which was acceptable has taken a turn for the worst.
I’ve been calling them to deposit two checks as I sold a property for 4 days and don’t answer me. I went in there without appointment to see what was going on and they where so rude.

I’m now in the process of closing my accounts (they told me it will take a week) and I don’t want anything to do with them anymore.

Unauthorised use of my account by…

Unauthorised use of my account by UniCredit.
My story is extremely long (lasted for almost a year). In brief, the UniCredit bank I used in Prague must have had a system error. I closed my account in Feb, but afterwards there were 'activities' in my account and then I got an email saying that I owe the bank 116 euros which I didn't (my balance was 0 when I closed it). Then I emailed back saying that there might have been a scheme / hacker using my account. Then the bank emailed back saying it was some delayed payment which I made in early Feb - the problem is, none of the transactions they indicated were successful as they blocked my card those days. Then, UniCredit emailed me again saying that they made a mistake and that I owed them 61 instead of 116. I emailed back saying how ridiculous it was because the transactions were not successful, but they said 'the data showed they were'. LOL!!!! They were not!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to pay cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then in the following months I keep getting their email saying I owe them money, and the amount changed four times (from 116 to 61 to 63 to 68). So from my point of view they basically 'created' the fake debts which I don't owe them and ask me to pay. They use their so-called 'data' which were incorrect and didn't reflect what really happened, but what could I possibly do to prove that I paid cash? (I don't keep receipts, but I had friends next to me when paying)
The bank made mistakes but the fact that it insists on its lies absolutely disgusts me.
This is just a brief summary, and the story it actually much longer and more absurd and complicated.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful! Do NOT open an account with this bank! It took 2 trips to the bank to open the account (we spent a total of 7 hours there!!) No-one knew what they were doing and NOTHING was explained to us. The internet site was not set up properly and it took us several more hours to sort this. After only 2 months they had taken over 60 euros in charges, so we decided to move to another bank and the bank have now decided to charge us 75.54 euros to close the account!! They do not reply to emails and we had to send a letter registered post to even get a response from the bank. I am sure the bank legally should have made sure that we understood what we were agreeing to (it was a non-resident account for foreigners) and how they can charge over 75 euros to close the account is beyond me!

Very disappointed!

I wish I could give 0 star! They are stealers. I got a loan from then and now they charge me 9euro each month for the next 10 years for account fee!!!!!!!!!
I have bank accounts in different countries and I live outside Italy now, they are the only bank that charge fee for just paying back my loan. They also won't let me access my account.
Shame on you!

NOT RECOMMENDED

We are in 2020 and their app is terrible. The online banking does not work properly and it misses some of the easiest options to actually being able to make operations quickly. Dealing with this bank just makes me nervous. I will close my account very soon.

UniCredit sucks, don't open an account here

I tried to open an account at the Rome branch near cipro metro.
(Filiale ROMA AMMIRAGLI, 30636)

The lady who "welcomed" me gave me a dirty look, rolled her eyes at me then brought out her colleague who was racist.

And even though I had written to them whilst confirming my appointment that I don't speak Italian, and asked if they could kindly let me know if that was an issue, they did not get back to me confirming my lack of
Italian language skills as a problem.

They were unusually rude and unprofessional.
Side note: If you're working at a bank and want to look representable, brushing your teeth would be a good place to start.
Horrible experience.

Unprofessional and tired Staff

In most branches the staff are tired and unprofessional. My branch is Milano Missori, via Corso Italia. I have waited for 2 hours without any reason only to take QR code. Not friendly and helpful staff. This is the reason branches are closing down each day.

Blocking the card, refusing to restore access

I lost my password from the mobile banking app, I don't remember my password, and I don't remember the code word either. Recovery options are: either to come to the Bank branch, which I can't do, because I live in Norway now and will only come back to Russia in 2022, when the card will no longer work! The second option is " remember the code word."
What I want to give in my review, is an absolute "0" for this bank. I have all my personal data, and I also know what operations were carried out through this card (I pay it periodically), but you can only restore it in two ways, the secret answer I don’t have, I have my passport! As a result, when I tried to withdraw my money to a Norwegian account, the Bank blocked the card without warning and left me without money!! I need to restore access by any other means, or unlock so that I can transfer my money and once and for all get rid of my relation with your disgusting Bank!

p. s. I do not need your answers in the tone of "we can’t help you, because you need to come to the Bank or remember the code word."
