After only 7500 km the rear hub failed…

After only 7500 km the rear hub failed and needs to be completely replaced. An expense around 1000 euro.

Contacted Urban Arrow (UA) customer service even though I know the warranty is expired.

The claim was completely rejected and UA tells me to contact the hub manufacturer Enviolo.

By doing some research I found out, that a lot of people have issues with the same type of rear hub.

It’s like buying a BMW with two years of warranty and after 2,5 year the gearbox brakes. Who would expect that even though the warranty is expired? Contacting BMW and is told that you need to call the gearbox manufacturer directly.

It doesn’t make sense and leaves the buyer in an endless chain of companies not talking their responsibility.

I can’t recommend buying an UA if customer service is that poor on an high end bike.

Family Next

Overall the built quality of Family Next is fantastic. Ride is much smoother compare to Lovens. I bought mine from Maus Fietsen where the assembly service is superior. Great attention to details and amazing delivery service.

Very poor customer service if you don't follow their rules, that aren't stated anywhere.

Bought the family bike. After 3 months the steering wheel was very loose, so I brought it back and the dealer concluded a serious manufacturing error and fixed it. 6 months later, the same manufacturing mistake returned, and the bike was now unsafe again. In the meantime the dealer han gone bankrupt, so I contacted a previous dealer of Urban Arrow and had the bike fixed for 250 USD.
I contacted Urban Arrow to have a reimbursment as the bike was seriously unsafe to ride for the second time, within the first 12 months, do to a manufacturing error. Urban Arrow will not do anything, as it was not their own mecanic who fixed the bike. What do they expect? I contacted them for 12 days without a reply and the bike was not safe to ride to a dealer further away.

We bought a family bike as we need it every day. I will not be riding the bike anywhere when it is unsafe, and therefor I had it fixed ASAP.

Urban Arrow is mitigating the damages. This is the second time in 12 months that the bike has become unsafe. Yes, I fixed the problem ASAP with the help of a previously certified Urban Arrow Mecanic.

Best cargo bike out there

Best cargo bike, very happy with my Perfomance Essential.

My 2 year old son prefers the bike over the car. It’s a joy to ride the Urban Arrow!

Urban Arrow Family

Urban Arrow Family - one of our best purchaces of the last years. It literaly enabled us to have bicycle family trips. Our car does not drive short distances any more. Dropping the kid to Kindergarten takes minutes now which allows to sleep for a little longer and to start working day earlier. The bike with Gates belt is so smooth! And there is no hill in our city that would be a problem. Doing shopping in a supermarket? No problem, no car needed. I just love it!

Some cons? Our bike seat is a little creaky/squeaky, not a biggy but sometimes a bit annoying. Maybe it's a seat manufacturing issue? I will have to report it during the first periodical maintenance check. And I think my dealer not necessarily tightened all the screws properly with Loctite when assembling the bike, so maybe some assembly checklists for dealers would help others in the future. But nothing serious so far. The bike is 3 months old.

Why haven’t we tried the urban arrow cargo bike before?

We were used to go everywhere by car. However, when our car got damaged and had to stay for a longer period at the garage for repair, we were forced to look at alternative means of transportation for our family with two young kids. In our neighbourhood there are many young families with urban arrow cargo bikes, therefore we decided to do a test ride at our local bike shop. We immediately fell in love with the urban arrow family performance plus cargo bike and thought: ‘Why haven’t we tried this before’? The new sage green color of our bike really stands out. For us, the urban arrow family performance plus cargo bike has been a game-changer. Now, most of the time we leave the car on purpose at home to take the bike with our kids. Whether it is for bringing them to school, sports, doing groceries or a fun ride, now the urban arrow bike is our preferred choice. The bike feels stable and safe. The seats are comfortable, and the battery lasts long. We can go multiple days without needing to charge the battery! It’s a big purchase, but totally worth it if you consider the savings on gas and the ease of getting around. Our kids love it and enjoy the fun rides, for us that matters the most!

My Urban Arrow Family Performance bike…

My Urban Arrow Family Performance bike with Bosch motor 500WH, Enviolo CA gear hub and chain drive is not working and has been at the bike shop for 2,5 months now. Now I discover that my bike has an Enviolo gear hub old version that is not designed or approved for cargo bikes. It is marked with "CA"! I found out that there has been a lot of cases with people who had similar problems with this version of gear hub marked "CA" and complains where some has been lucky that this fragile hub was replaced with a new one! Others not, so they had to spend a lot of money to get a new wheel with the new Enviolo HD hub so they could use their expensive bike again!

I want to claim a replacement, that is, a new rear wheel with a new HD hub, and that Urban Arrow/ Enviolo pay the bill at the mechanics, considered for the fraud and pain of not having a means of transport for my children for 2.5 months now. I have had to rent a car to come around on my daily basis, which I really cannot afford.
Urban Arrow did answer me 2 months ago, but I may admit I gave up when they wrote a long answer about "using an engine wrong etc." A long text in which they disclaim all responsibility, even though it is their responsibility that the hubs installed in these cargo bikes were too fragile for this type of bike.

If this bike cannot drive with 2-3 kids and cargo in hills, then Urban Arrow should be convicted of false marketing. To say that it is because of the use etc. is to disclaim all liability!

The best Family Cargo Bike

It's one of the best Family Cargo Bike with which you can cary the kids super safe and also replace the car entirely. I have the Cargoline motor and I use it daily since almost 4 years and is a pleasure everytime.

Excellent bike, allowed us to sell one of our cars

We bought the urban Arrow family used (found it on Facebook marketplace) from another citizen, not a business. It was in really good condition. Obviously it handles differently from the typical road or mountain bike. It took me about 30 minutes of riding to get comfortable enough to take my daughter in it. I think that was pretty quick. The handling is super smooth, and it is extremely stable. We've owned the bike since Oct 2023, and I'm writing this in August 2024, so about 9-10 months. My daughter loves riding in it. I love riding it. I like riding it more than my road bike. The motor is very powerful. When we bought it, we lived on top of a very long and steep hill, but the pedal assist made it easy to go uphill, even when carrying a load. We especially loved the rain cover in the winter and spring. We get a lot of rain and snow, and the rain cover kept our daughter protected from the wind and water.
My wife also enjoys riding the bike and will often choose to take the bike and my daughter somewhere instead of drive our car. We often ride the urban Arrow with our daughter, as well as one of our road bikes, to local recreational activities instead of drive our car. This has truly been a car replacement bicycle and is far far cheaper than a car in every way.
