Bad experience hiring a van

I phoned around to get a van hire for the day and made sure that I included the insurance for the excess in my evaluation. I phoned Van Hire3000 and they told me that they did not do the insurance but it would cost between 7 and 12 pounds and to pay on the day.
I arrived on the day to hire the van in Brighton as arranged but the desk had problems allowing me to pay the fee to set the excess to zero. They said it was the way that the booking had been set up and after an hour going back and forth between Europecar and Vanhire 3000 we were getting no where. I was cut off twice by 2 Vanhire3000 agents who Presumably saw that as the easiest solution to the problem. Eventually I asked Vanhire3000 to arrange a refund so I could just do it direct with the Vanhire company. I did not want to risk the 500 excess just for a day rental but was told by Vanhire 3000 that i would not get a refund unless my original recorded conversation showed that I hadbeen miss sold. I knew that I had been miss sold so proceeded to book direct with the Vanhire company including the insurance to cover the excess. As I drove away Vanhire3000 called me to say that they had listened to the original call and I had been miss sold and that they would refund.
The story does not end there. On returning the van I was informed that I would have to pay 17 pounds for the insurance and that Vanhire 3000 had reversed the arrangement and cancelled the Europecar booking and reinstated their deal plus I had to pay the 17 Eropecar insurance which for a day hirer is a bit steeper than the 7-12 pounds originally indicated by the Vanhirer3000 operator.
I am not happy at all with the way it was handled. I have used Carhire3000 for business many many times but I don't think I will use their Vanhire3000 dept again. I was livid on the day especially the calls being dropped just when I needed their help to get things sorted. I ended up paying more than some of the other quotes I had previuosly got so effectively my time phoning around was pointless. plus wasted
over an hour of my hire work window. Very Very stressful and
frustrating.

Booked the van at 11:44 am then recieved an email about a request!

After booking the van at 11:44 am I recieved an email 45 minutes later that a request was made for the van. So I phoned up to ask if I would get it or not. The customer service said there is still time and they will see that they can get the van. I said I don't need a request, I need the van, where they said it is still time. At 17:35 they phoned, no van!
Bunch of useless chancers.

LET DOWN WITH THREE DAYS TO GO

After being strung along for two weeks through a number of phone calls with vanhire 3000 promising to deliver, they finally told me with three working days to go that they could not supply the van they had promised, no apologies, not even an email. so far they haven't even refunded my payment which they have had for the two weeks. I will not trust Vanhire3000 "bank" again, neither should you if they do this to other customers they must be making a fortune.
