Read returns section as its not free

Quick delivery, nice product as described BUT read the returns policy.
Delivery comes with a 'free returns label but this will be deducted from your refund total - so its not free!!

Regarding the label we do not state the return is free, as you noted it is covered in our returns policy, the label is included to allow the cheapest and most convenient way to return. I purchased 2 dresses & a top

I purchased 2 dresses & a top, the dresses were lovely but the top was too big & had to send it back.
I was surprised & annoyed when I found out they take £3 return cost off your refund when you send items back for a return label.
I really like the clothes at Vestry but unfortunately the £3 charge to return items will stop me purchasing things from them in the future!

Only giving 1 as I can’t give 0 rating

Only giving 1 as I can’t give 0 rating. Outrageous delivery and return charges! And rude customer service. Avoid this company at all costs unless you want to be out of pocket. Clothes no better than high street brands. Ordered 1 dress in my usual size but it didn’t suit as too tight around bust area. I returned and received £7 less than what I paid. On questioning this I was told thy don’t refund postage and also deduct a return fee of £3 for any item! I complained further and was basically met with a response of, “if you don’t agree with our terms, don’t shop here”! I’ve asked for my complaint to be escalated but keep receiving the same response from the same agent. Clearly no intention of passing to a manager as requested, so thy just away with it. I requested thy refund at least one of the charges given thy are disproportionate but they disagree. At least I can make others aware on here to avoid this site , there’s plenty more out there who treat customers much better and more fairly with charges. Let’s hope the competition gets rid of this site!

In response to your response, Vestry Team. I did not confirm I knew about all the charges prior ordering as I clearly stated. And to be fair I think the response from you on here has proven your rude attitude towards the issue. Furthermore, you state you are disappointed with customers leaving a 1 star review due to the charges and you will not bend to this, does that not tell you something? No one is expecting a free service and I asked you consider refunding one of the charges if not both to prevent being out of pocket by £7 for nothing in return! Yes the pandemic has affected a lot of businesses and individuals, however you’re an online business and wasn’t it reported a huge increase in online shopping… All the customers leaving these types of reviews are doing it for good reason, your choice to listen to the target audience, or not. I think your response to my initial review will do you more harm than good.

Edit to your second response: As i have clearly stated on a number of occasions, i was not aware of the return fee policy until you deducted it from my refund, following this i scanned through the small print on your site were i became aware of it, not prior my order. You refer to an extract saying' I'm aware of the charges you spell out in your response and this is what I'm disputing'. This was following your previous response that simply spelt out the charges so i was making you aware i know about them now but not prior my order. I have explained this to you previously but you chose to ignore it. I did not 'demand' as you put it, i simply asked you to refund 1 or both of the charges as i think deducting £7 from a returned order to be unreasonable. I insert a copy of one of the many emails from you below, and my response follows below, showing evidence of the above. Once again, your reply on here speaks volumes..

My apologies I assumed from your complaint that you were complaining it wasn't clear as you said 'had you known we operate this way you would not have shopped with us'. As the charges you are disputing, delivery charge and the returns fee are clearly advertised and you have confirmed you were aware of them at the time you placed your order there is nothing to resolve and therefore the issue was closed.

This remains the case now, if you order knowing the terms of a site and then after the fact decide you no longer wish those terms to apply to you that is unreasonable and no fault of the company. My only advice would be that if our terms are not acceptable to you to not shop from a company who's terms you do not consider reasonable.

In terms of it being disproportionate, should you wish to post an item directly at the post office on the same recorded tracked service and then multiply this by two to allow for the return, you will not be able to get the price cheaper further this is without accounting for a cost of someone being paid to handle and restock the items as well as packaging materials. With that in mind we do not consider the costs involved to be disproportionate. I will however pass on your feedback but in this instance we would not be refunding the delivery and returns fee for the reasons outlined above.

Hello,

I wasn't aware of the returns fee, only the delivery charge. I noticed the returns fee only when trying to figure out why my refund was £7 short!

It isn't clear on your site; it should be made more noticeable on pages whilst browsing not tied up with all the small print.

Are you the manager? I would like this escalating please. I find the costs and your response unreasonable and fairly rude.

Hello,

Your complaint to us was to dispute our returns and delivery policy, that being delivery wasn't free and that we didn't give you a free return (we do provide a label to allow you to return conveniently and as cheap as possible). Asking for us to then give free delivery and free returns for you.

First you complained you did not know of these charges. We explained the multiple locations around the site, including a link on every product page to which you then replied you were aware and took offence to us pointing this out.

Edit: You have since added to your review that you never claimed to be aware, to this we paste directly from our conversation your reply to us: "I'm aware of the charges you spell-out in your response and this is what I'm disputing. "

Following this you reiterated your issue was with the fees which you considered disproportionate. The delivery charge, £3.95, and the remaining £3 which is the returns label we provide only if you choose to use it rather than post directly. You continued to demand these be refunded.

To address the disproportionate claim, we explained should you wish to post an item on the same recorded service we use and similarly for the return, you will not be able to get the price cheaper and this is without accounting for a cost of someone to handle and restock the items as well as packaging materials. With that in mind we do not consider the costs involved to be disproportionate to the service.

Your reply to this explanation was to ignore that response, and then claim you did not know the returns were not free despite you making it clear in your earlier reply you were fully aware of which we have a text transcript.

In this instance I'm deeply sorry we couldn't find a way to leave you satisfied but given we provided the service we advertise and that isn't in dispute by yourself, the issue appears to be you wanted a service we don't offer sadly there was little we could do for you other than pass on your feedback on the topic which we have.

Charges postage and packaging and to return an item

There aren't many companies that charge postage and packaging then charge you for returning an item. Out of a total of £35.45 by the time my postage and packing was taken off and then the return. I had £28.50 refunded. Which is outrageous.
The clothes that turned up were no different than cheap clothes you see at the market. Save your money, time and effort.

With the ever increasing pressure to provide better prices and smaller margins we must charge for delivery. We do provide a returns label to make returning cheaper, the return fee of £3 covers the postage back, materials and repackaging and labour which is far cheaper than posting directly yourself by a recorded service. The cost by comparison to travel to a shop (by car which would also involve parking or public transport) as well as time and a returns policy in store which is usually store credit only once you leave, we feel the charges are reasonable and comparable.

Heavily filtered images

Completely different dressed to advertised. It’s very clear these images are heavily filtered. It’s also very expensive to have delivered and then returned.

I'm sorry to hear this, we always aim to have the images be as accurate as possible, filters are not used (this would not benefit us to do so), but if a dress is shot in natural outside lighting colours will differ slightly to being shot in a studio or inside. Similarly different monitor settings can effect colours etc. We will of course endeavour to improve the imagery of this product if we can see it is not close enough in representation.

Returns very exspensive

£6.95 been taken for a return! Never again! Too many lovely sites who don’t charge and those who do don’t charge £6.95 for a tiny parcel!

Broken

The earrings arrived promptly and well packed but were broken. I have tried to contact the company three times for a replacement but have still not received a response. It has been over a week now.

UPDATE I have now received a response and a new pair of earrings are on there way.
