Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Where do I start. Initial vet on Sunday (5 April) was great and explained everything to us and gave us options as to the best way forward to handle our situation. We knew we would have to have repeat visits over the next couple of days and we saw a nurse on the next two occasions both were off hand, cold and totally unfeeling. Not a great experience for either my dog or us. We knew that we had to do the right thing and let our dog go. On Tuesday (7 April) Bryony the vet was fabulous, she explained what would happen guided us through everything, gave us time to say goodbye and was sympathetic to our feelings as we were very emotional. She told us that our boy could still hear us and to talk to him right to the very end. She was brilliant. We wanted to settle the account immediately. The receptionists seemed a bit confused as to the amounts etc but we eventually got the invoice and paid. The next day we got another invoice, which I queried. We went up to pay this to be told we cannot pay them as they are a different company and they would have no record. Vets now Belfast use their premises after 7.00 pm, weekends and bank holidays. The receptionist gave me a card with a telephone number and said I could phone them but they do not open until 7.00pm. I waited and phoned the number to hear a voice message saying accounts are open 9.00:am to 5.00 pm! I phoned them 3 times the next day during their working hours and no reply on each occasion. I got a reminder email about an outstanding amount that was due for the day my dog was put to sleep which I couldn’t understand as I paid in full on the day. When I examined the invoice I noticed that part of that payment had been allocated to a different number! We were getting exasperated at this stage as it was difficult to speak to anybody so we called in person after 7.00 pm to see if we could sort the problem out. It turned out that there was another invoice which we never got and part of my ‘final payment’ had been allocated to that, I asked if someone would ring me to sort this mess out and we are still waiting, it was a very upsetting time and we just wanted the matter resolved so we paid online both outstanding invoices (10 April) and have receipts. To my utter dismay I got a reminder today 14 April to pay these outstanding amounts!ll. Again cannot get through to anybody to discuss so we may need to make another visit after 7.00 pm. Totally shambolic and extremely upsetting.

I cannot thank the team at Vets Now enough for their support when our dog, Harper, was so poorly. Dealing with an emergency is always terrifying, but Sasha (Vet) and Chloe (Veterinary Assistant) were absolutely lovely from the moment we arrived.
They helped us navigate the incredibly difficult decision to put Harper to sleep with such grace and honesty. It was an awful situation to be in, but they supported us through every step and treated Harper with the utmost dignity. Their professional guidance gave us the clarity we needed to do what was best for him.
While our hearts are broken, we are so grateful that Harper’s final moments were handled with such genuine care. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Thank you, Sasha and Chloe, for being there for us and for him.

The prices are extremely expensive - £302.50 just for a consultation!
This makes it impossible for some people to access their services leading to abandonment of pets or no treatments. I believe they do this because they are the only out of hours emergency veterinarian service which is abusive.

Can't give any information about my experience as they did not answer the phone at my wee dogs time of need. Rang at 10pm was put on hold for 5 minutes and no one answered.

Rip off in cost. Bill could have bought me a return flight to New York. All for a bit of soap in my dogs eye!

They almost killed my dog. Took my dog to the emergency vet because I just knew she wasn’t right. Charged £1000 for an overnight stay, fluids, all painkillers. The vet told me when dropping her off that it could be something in her pancreas, or something she ate. The female vet told us she would do a blood test, amongst other tests. So we left her with them. The next day I get a call and I ask “so what’s wrong with her?” To which the vet replied “well I didn’t actually look or test for anything because she was on fluids.” Wtf? Then what were you doing with her all night? So I asked the vet, “Is she just better now then?” And the vet told us she was on the mend, rehydrated, eating chicken for them. But when we took her home, she looked just as lifeless as when we brought her to them. She wouldn’t eat, couldn’t go to the toilet. She has now been taken for an emergency hysterectomy and given a 50% survival rate, all because VetsNow in this practice were too lazy to help a dog in need. I will be fighting the £1000 fee. You could have killed my dog.

They were courteous and explained everything, they also gave us the option of continuing with them at the out of hours rate or taking our pet to our own vet to continue with his treatment after they had got him more comfortable.

Staff are great very knowledgeable and friendly. They were very helpful to me when i had a scare with my dog. Vets couldn't do more. I had to take my dog here back in Dec 2023 and they literally done all the work and saved my dog. I couldn't thank them enough.

Reception needs to be warm and friendly. That refers to staff.
Veterinary staff could also develop more in the way of people skills. I have no doubt they are extremely professional, but not a lot of energy or interest.

My dog was seen quickly but completely overpriced and taking advantage of an out of hours service for money. Only got meds for 1day and cost £500
