Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It was late at night and a holiday weekend, they saved my springer from further complications and pain, very kind and very professional

They were very nice and helpful and clearly explained the treatment my pet was being given

The care and service was 5 star but charging £313 for an out of hour consultation is just plain wrong and playing on pet owners fears immaterial if you have insurance.

Excellent care but the pricing is ridiculous- something needs to be done nationwide about vet costs - and they wonder why so many pets are abandoned

I called a couple of different Vets in the area to get a quote for my dog who had swallowed something he shouldn't have. I explained the exact issue and asked for a total cost figure from Vets Now. I was happy enough with the cost so took my dog down to the clinic.
As we were about to proceed with the necessary procedure we were quoted a cost that was £200+ more that had been quoted on the phone.
The phone quote was explained as being just the consultation fee and not for the procedure - even though the procedure was explained to me along with the phone quote.
They give out quotes for this kind of thing daily, so is no mistake - just an under-handed way of getting people to the clinic. In this case I am afraid it worked, our dog needed treatment and we did not want to trek off to another clinic and risk his health - so we paid the extra cost. I am sure this is what Vets Now were counting on.

It took over 20 minutes for some one to answer the phone even after pressing 1 for an emergency. They always seem to care about payment before they allow you to visit. On a previous visit we were asked if we could pay on the same day. The £312 out of hours is extremely high, as there are people on call on site anyway, I work nights but don't charge triple as I choose to do it. A£6.75 bottle of medication cost nearly £50 because it's out of hours ???. £35 per medicine administration charge , just to be logged on to a computer record ,£70 for 1 minute on a keyboard

The out of hours vet was professional, helpful, sensible and offered advice that I had not been offered at my original veterinary practice. This course of action saved me a lot of money.

Our young Jack Russell became poorly with an upset stomach whilst we were on holiday. We called our insurance helpline and were advised to get in contact with a vet within 3 hours. Because it was a Sunday we expect the change to be expensive and it was! The vet we saw was very thorough, friendly clearly knowledgeable she gave our poorly pup an anti - sickness injection and probiotics to settle her stomach.
Out of hours appointment was £313 locally in Yorkshire our vet out of hours appointments is £120, which are provided in a state of the art animal hospital.

Emergent visit
After a minor emergency ( 14/02/2026)and calling at around 5 I was in the vets at 6 and being seen by 6:30 , it’s was clean , calm and very friendly. The receptionist was absolutely amazing and even offered to hold my dog while I popped to the loo. Would definitely recommend as they are very caring.

The vet was very helpful in diagnosing the problem with my dog and giving her pain meds. The only negative is that I live almost an hour away from the emergency vets so it was a long journey there and back.

I needed an emergency vet as my dog following an attack from another 2 dogs had an infected bite and was presenting as unwell. It was out of hours they were amazing, from phone call to when we left with our dog Monty feeling much calmer, in a lot less pain and infection drained, wound cleaned, antibiotics and take home pain relief given and clearly explained. The receptionist was lovely as were the very competent, knowledgeable and kind vet and nurse. Empathetic care was second to none thank you 🙏

The team took excellent care of our elderly dog. They were thorough and explained what was going on behind the scenes. The vet clearly explained what she believed had happened, the the options were for future treatment and how to proceed with the usual vet in the morning.
Like many out of hours services, this doesn't come cheap.

An emergency was dealt with by Meg with kindness and care for an elderly dog. Meg considered all aspects of his medical history and the possibilities of what could have caused such a traumatic event from out of the blue on a Sunday afternoon. Tests were done, medication was given and the offer was made for him to be on intravenous fluids overnight. I believe taking him to Vets Now, being attended to by Meg, being hydrated and medicated and observed overnight, saved his life.

When our chocolate lab started having multiple seizures on New Years Eve, amidst our worry and panic over what to do, the Vets Now team were incredible from the moment they picked up our call. They were understanding, reassuring, and so kind. They gave us such great advice and helped us through some really tricky decisions during the late-night appointment - giving us all the options available at the time, and tying us over until we could get an appointment in to see our registered vets.
They are most definitely our go-to emergency vets.

My cat was sent here as our usual vets was closed for Christmas.. they charged a crazy amount of fees just to send my cat home even though he was clearly not well enough to be discharged. Had to take him back again the next day as he wasn't eating or drinking and actually seemed worse! So they charged another extortionate fee only for my cat to pass away in the night there.. I've no idea what happened to him as no proper information was given.. they really could of done anything and I wouldn't know. We didn't even get to say goodbye to him.🥲 It felt like they just wanted the money and here's your dead cat.. bye, bye no sympathy. Terrible service..

I phoned vets now for an appointment and they were kind enough to encourage me to go through my vets as the cost would be lower so whilst I saw the same vets I paid less. I have never had a bad experience or poor treatment from them.
