Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

They rob you and lie to you. £350 to even enter the door, (cat got ill on a bank holiday Sunday) the vet told me my cat has cancer and will need a specialist to move forward and sent me home with a £780 bill.
I was charged £40 for a singular painkiller, not a pack! A single tablet that I had to crush and divide into 10 equal parts. Best part was I already had some at home.
Took her to my regular vet the day after and they told me she has a kidney infection, not cancer. They then refused to send over the medical notes and test results I HAD PAID FOR as they were too busy and I had to pay for all the tests again at my normal vet.
They also told me the pain killer they gave her was not safe for her kidneys, and I had to pay £2000 for 3 days of dialysis.
I’m now £3500 down and they still have never sent the test results to my vet, and this was in august. Luckily my normal vet saved her.

Our pet was initially treated by another vet but transferred to vets now for overnight monitoring. This obviously incurred charges for both the transfer and another check by a vet. The main concern seemed to be are we insured and how much for!! Our pet then had all the same treatments that she had already received at the previous vet some I would deem necessary but amazingly some of the extras seemed to add up to nearly exactly the ‘deposit’ we had to pay that would not as we later found out be covered by our insurance!! Happily our pet was ok and returned home but there didn’t seem to be any affinity with the animals and customers just a thanks have you paid pick her up asap approach.
These large vets practices for me seem to have lost touch with personal care and seem to want to take as much as possible from pet owners who can and obviously will pay anything for their pets.
I will be moving my pets to a family practice from now with overnight facilities, the out of hours care (even though the practice was open Saturdays) is also another scam designed to get more money from worried owners.

Vet provided a wonderful service thoroughly checking over our pet rabbit who required antibiotics and pain killers. Vet showed us how to administer medication. She was very kind and the nurse assistant was just as kind and friendly. Very happy with the service received.

Total rip off
Not the vets on the ground fault but these are owner by large companies that only care about profit.
£302 for walking through the door. £180 for a bandage.
Was given an ‘estimated’ £2.5 - £3.5k for an overnight stay for my dog, with pain management.
X-rays and any treatment would be on top of that.
Proffering from people who love and care for their animals.
Posters/signs everywhere you look about paying/claiming etc. My dog has now received treatment from a ‘local’ vets that actually care about the welfare of their animals, at a fraction of the cost.
