Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There was no empathy from the vet towards my dog or us as worried pet owners. All they seemed interested in was putting the card machine in our face—there was no reassurance or comforting words. They were only concerned about the value of our pet insurance. Hopefully, I never need to deal with these people again. It was all about the insurance—what a disgrace. Also you sent me the email to do the review.
Firstly, my pet’s name is Ivy. The vet was Kings Cross Road, Dundee. Also, if you want to reply, please make it transparent for everyone to see. Why not send someone in there to see how people and their ill pets are treated? Disgusting.

Very positive experience. My dog was seen straight away and the vet was really good with her.

My cat was in some discomfort and breathing laboured. I called vets now and was told to bring him up immediately, which we did. Helen, the vet, did everything she could at that point, to make him stable. We were very grateful. On leaving though, we were asked for a deposit which I thought was uncalled for as we had insurance. Unfortunately, the vets could not treat our cat's issues at we had to let him go. It was very sad.
The vet team at Parkside were amazing though throughout, keeping me updated all the way.

Absolutely unacceptable and deeply unprofessional.
From start to finish, the primary concern appeared to be money rather than the welfare of my critically unwell puppy.
Before 5pm, prior to the practice transferring over to Vets Now, we were seen by a male vet who was genuine, compassionate, and honest. He clearly explained that he was extremely worried about our puppy. While this was devastating to hear, it prepared us for the seriousness of the situation and the possibility of the worst.
However, once care was taken over by Vets Now, the information and approach changed completely. I received a phone call during the night in which the caller failed to identify themselves. The very first thing said was, “Have you got the money sorted?” There was no update on my puppy’s condition, no reassurance, and no indication that his wellbeing was the priority.
Later, we were contacted again and told that the puppy had “perked up” and that we could take him home, despite him being blue and clearly struggling to breathe. This gave us false hope at an already devastating time, only to leave us even more heartbroken. It was deeply concerning and appeared to be driven solely by the fact that we did not have the £500 deposit immediately available.
The lack of professionalism, empathy, consistency, and duty of care shown was shocking and unacceptable. This practice failed to meet the basic standards expected of a veterinary service.
I was called to come and pick my puppy up and noticed he was blue and crying. I asked if he was ok and was told he was fine but he was not. They clearly wanted me to just get him out the building and if I did he would have died. I noticed he wasn’t right and told them I didn’t not want to take him home, he was sadly put down.
I would strongly advise others to avoid this practice.

The vet that dealt with me was very professional, caring and empathetic to me and my dog. She talked me through every step she was doing and gave me encouragement. I can’t thank her enough as my dogs are my everything. However the price is extremely expensive. I get it was an emergency but gosh £315 for consultation fee.

We had to drive 45 miles to reach the out of hours vet. It was a long and fraught journey with a sick dog. The vets now practice covers a very wide area and is too far away from rural places in my opinion. An additional practice in the ph1-7 postcode would be great.
The vet who met us was lovely and immediately put me at ease. She treated my wee dog swiftly and was very kind. She clearly loves animals

£330 for a consultation — from an industry built on compassion for animals. It’s devastating to think that some will be left to suffer because of costs like this. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Vet was amazing with Tank my frenchie . I was seen promptly on the Sunday and she was so lovely with him. Made him pain free and explained everything to me.

Everything was fine but had to wait about 45 mins as there was only one vet on.
