Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Very expensive. Obviously paying the bill upfront but the insurance department drag their feet when dealing with the claim. £300 to walk through the door, disgraceful.

Vet unfortunately failed to notice the issue was a wound under our dogs tongue. We did say that we felt the issue was with his mouth, possibly a tooth or similar. Although the medication given helped for the day, the following morning he was very unwell again. We took him to our usual vet who then found the issue and put the correct treatment plan in place.

Although the staff were lovely and did their best your ridiculous overcharging is out of control. My vet does a consultation fee of £30, you are charging 10 times that, you are taking advantage of desperate people. On top of that I was charged £32 for one injection and an eye drop, on top of the cost of the drugs. I can't wait until the government investigation stops you taking advantage of people.

Experience of Vets Now was efficient and calm at what was a distressing and stressful time following my dog having an unexpected seizure.

Service was superb. Charges are outragiosly astronomical! Looking seriously and changing my vet's so I don't have to drive fifteen miles every time I have an out of hours emergency.

Took one of our dogs to Vets Now - Herne Bay on Sunday morning due to a lot of blood in her toilet and vomit.
It first seemed that we'd caused a bit of extra work because we hadn't called ahead, although if you take yourself to A&E in an emergency, unless an ambulance is needed, you don't necessarily call ahead to give them a heads up.
The vet had a little look over her, touching and feeling different areas of her body, she did check her temperature and confirmed she had a raised temperature. Vet informed us she probably had a stomach infection/virus and we were prescribed paracetamol and a pre-biotic paste (Oddly enough, the exact same as a lady that was in front of us with two small dogs).
We were then sent on our way after paying £500+ for the privilege of a 10 minute consultation.
We were not told to phone our registered vets the following day to request more pre-biotic paste, as they had not prescribed enough for the duration she was required to take it.
Her situation had not improved on Monday so I contacted her regular vets to get her seen. The vet was very surprised that Vets Now did not offer the chance for a blood test.
Our dog is now in the vets with suspected pancreatitis.

At a very stressful time , my call was answered quickly. We took our Dog over straight away. We were seen quickly, medicine given and luckily back home soon after. Very kind and professional, so glad they were there.

Well another visit to Vets now with our Dachshund. We were very pleased with the professional service we received from the practice as soon as we arrived. Sid was diagnosed with and abscess and a bleeding tooth which he required antibiotics and pain killers. The vet advised us to see our own vet for a possible tooth extraction. It was a stress free visit.

When Lottie was admitted at 4am in a bad way with severe vomiting and diarrhoea she was dealt with immediately. Both Hannah and Charlotte and all the team were great at keeping us informed, allowed us to visit Lottie during her stay and definitely saved her life.

Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Lauren and Charlotte were full of compassion, advice & knowledge for my staffy Missey. My dog had an operation with my own vet and sadly was not given enough pain relief from this aswell as dealing with arthritis. So I used there out of hours service, my dog settled instantly with Lauren who clearly loved staffs just as much as me. I am so greatful to them, my 14 year old girl is now finally relaxing, pain free and herself thanks to these wonderful two! Do not hesitate to contact them, they are the best vets around! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Fast, friendly and competent. Telephone operator quickly sorted out an appointment at an easy to reach surgery. Receptionist, vet nurse and vet were lovely, sympathetic and professional.

Took our dog in the middle of the night, called when I arrived and the vet came straight down, opened up and took him in, I was provided with a estimated costing before anything and to be fair, it came in less. Great service.

I brought our Pete dog to you for an emergency consultation on 01/01/24 and subsequently put in a claim with Sainsbury's Pet insurance. Despite several occasions of your company being contacted by them they have not had a response. This is significantly holding up my insurance claim!
