About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

shameful fleecing attitude

I have no idea who rates these lot as 5stars... obviously they don't pay the ridiculous bills or maybe these are just fake reviews.

Before covid our dog had gastroenteritis, our vets suggested overnight care as no vets now do this in Liverpool. they charged £700+ for a night stay where all they did was keeping our dog under observation and nothing else. Since our dog had gastroenteritis.... They also charged us a £20 fee for cleaning our dog stool.... I mean.... ridiculous.

Come 2024 we took our cat over the weekend as our vets are again closed, with urinary tract infection but being stable as our vets referred for overnight care. They are charging us £961 and if the cat stays until Monday morning £3000....

Again the cat is stable, they are not going to do anything to the cat besides changing fluids and making sure the catheter is in place and the cat is recovering.

I don't know who runs this company but they should be ashamed of themselves for these prices. The only reason why people use them is because there are no other choices in Liverpool. Utterly shameful behaviour from these vets. If your vet suggested these please beware as they will fleece you with a smile on their face.

Excellent emergency treatment on a Sunday evening for my GSD from the initial telephone call and the examination and treatment by the Vet. Very clear advice provided by the Vet, plus all details sent to my normal Vet practice for follow up on Monday

Very caring, efficient and competent

Very caring, courteous, efficient service with a good outcome: our very sick rabbit is now completely better. I have given 3 stars instead of the 5 that our experience deserved because of the extortionate cost. I understand that this is the case for all vetinary services, not just this particular venue. I hope that vet services will soon be more regulated.

I had the misfortune to have to go to NOW vets,I was told the cost was £288 which I understand as It was an emergency vets but the overall cost of £663.23 was extortionate, when I was told by the vet that she had done small tests in the back, then was told my precious dog would pass away that night, and she did die,but if the vet knew that, why did she do tests and then charge such a high they just prey on your vulnerability,I would not recommend NOW vets,I tried pdsa which is in the same building, but refused me even though I am a pensioner and my own vets were closed,I would rather have donated to pdsa than give NOW that money. They are heartless and greedy

Very disappointed with the lack of clarity

Took dog in and was fine paying the fee and bill etc but when he was doing well within. A few hours rang back to ask if it was a side affect A. didn't answer my question (thanks Google) B.asked to come back if breathing got worse or he started coughing. Asked clearly in the call is that a new fee or a return visit asked me to hold then came back and said return visit.

1.5 hours later starts trying to clear throat bit of a cough...rang back to this time be told it's a full new fee no guarantee it's related.

I'm sorry but that's extortion....you told me that hat to look out for and when to bring back if it showed them try another 288 consult.

I was happy with the service until you tried to scam me...

No Trust & extortionate prices.

After a road collision & rushing our loved pet to them mid evening. They made me collect my critically I’ll little one, at 7.30am with a drip still attached, to take him on a 20 mile journey to stay at a different vets as a day case & wanted me then to pick him up again & return him with another 20 mile journey at 5pm. Sadly all the movement & transfer was too much, he died on the journey. They charged me over £1300 for the pleasure of less than 14 hours supposed care.
Would you transfer a person out of a critical care unit?? Then why do it to a pet & put the responsibility on the owner.?
As for fees, extortion & praying on vulnerable people who just want the best for there pet & will risk everything they have to try & help there pet, only to be faced by a money grabbing, no compassion service. ££££ is all that seems to matter to them.

Filthy & poor experiences

The clinic absolutely stinks and it has done on every visit I've had, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned for months.

I can hardly call it a consultation because I was barely given not even two minutes of the vet's time.

The vet was quite condescending and impatient, as if my concerns were a waste of their time. It's incredibly frustrating to be in a vulnerable position, seeking help for your beloved pet, only to be met with disrespect and feeling like an inconvenience. Only to then be presented with a bill of over £330 to speak to a "vet" for literally less than two minutes and zero treatment.

Avoid this "vet" at all costs!

Brilliant vets and staff

We had arrived at vets now, after our Hungarian Vizsla, Ruger, had taken a very bad turn after being diagnosed with Immune Mediated Anemia.

He was taken into the care of Ruth, he was looked after and on other vets advice was given a blood transfusion.

We had, had to leave Ruger with vets now for two days whilst the blood transfusion and his other medical care had to take place.

Ruth and her team were brilliant and had been constantly calling myself and my partner with updates on rugers condition.

After this we were able to pick Ruger up, due to him making progress after his blood transfusion, and on seeing his waggy tail and demeanour around Ruth and the rest of the team he had been clearly looked after and cared for by them all.

Would highly recommend Vets Now, if you are concerned about any medical matter with your pets.

Super friendly and knowledgable

Very friendly reception staff, I was very worried about my dog Annie and they rushed her straight in to be checked. The prices are high but when your beloved family member is sick and they give such exceptional care it's worth every penny - you get what you pay for and what I got was my gorgeous girl back!

Terrible attitude

At 4:47am on 23/09/23 I spoke to Natasha de Freitas on a video call regarding my dogs leg as he was unable to walk on it. She advised me to go to Huyton PDSA immediately and we arrived there at 5:30am. Upon arrival, the receptionist checked my dog in and told us to wait for the vet. A male vet came out of consultation room 4 and immediately told us that we had to come back at 9am, as the report he held was from the previous call i had made at 8pm the night before. I tried to show him the email from Natasha to prove that we had been told to go in immediately and he refused to look at it. He looked my dog up and down and said “it clearly wasn’t an emergency” whilst my dog was lying on the floor crying and unable to stand up. Obviously this was upsetting and I asked him to double check the report incase the new one had come through late. He came back out 5 minutes later and said there was no report. He was extremely aggressive with us and told us he would not see to our dog and told us to come back at 9am that morning. I asked him why he was being so rude and he said “Because people like you are abusing the system”. This was extremely distressing to hear as my dog at the time was crying in pain and I was desperate for him to get help. I asked for his name and he refused to give me it, and simply walked away. The receptionist told us he was not from the PDSA and therefore she didn’t know his name, but said it began with a H. I am so disgusted by your staff and how he thinks it’s acceptable to treat me that way after I told him countless times that I had been told to come in immediately. It is clear that your company only cares about the money, and that your “professional vets” lack any compassion towards animals.

Amazing Staff

Requiring support at midnight the team went above and beyond to help - initially supporting giving advice & guidance over the phone then arranging an emergency appointment.

All staff we encountered displayed genuine compassion to us as owners & our dog.

Arriving at the facility our dog was dealt with quickly & the care shown to him and me was above expectations!!

Whilst we don't want to make a habit of attending we absolutely wouldn't hesitate to use again if needed - Thanks so much!!
