Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Following a first time seizure at home we needed to see a vet & this was our closest option. It was the evening but not middle of the night & other pets were there so the surgery didnt have to be opened just for us. Quick vet check over & sent home (less than 15 mins). Another seizure the next afternoon (on Saturday) meant a return visit, less than 10 mins, with quick checkover & 10 tablets provided. Sent home with a bill of over £545 for this & adding insult to injury charged £35 to send claim to insurance company (who only cover £200 for emergency fees). Extortionate & disproportionate to other vet services (ie. another emergency vet charges £99 out of hours fee)

If I could award 0 stars I would. Beyond awful on many levels. I emailed my complaint to you in September. I had an email in October and again November saying you would get back to me. It’s now February.. and I have received nothing!
I was charged £1900 and my dog was in your care for 15 hours and when I left the next morning you had no idea what was causing her to be unwell. It took my own vet less than 5 minutes to work it out. Your business is purely about making money & exploiting people & animals.

After contacting the service it was felt my cat needed to be seen. Nursing staff were brilliant kind and reassuring. The vet was the opposite. He reminded me it was an animal hospital like A/E which made me feel I was wasting everyone's time and really shouldn't be there. However my cat was given a pain killer and anti inflammatory because of possible bad tooth or infection ? I was in and out within 5 minutes. I understand this wasn't a life and death situation but I didn't know where else I could have got pain relief or advice for my cat who was in pain and not eating or drinking which came on suddenly . My cat is resting now and is not in pain , which is good but I feel confused about what your service is for ? Where could I have gone for the above treatment ? The vet apologised for being rushed but I came away feeling that being a nuisance is a very expensive ( over £400.00) way of spending a Sunday morning. I Will think twice now before using the service again.

Megan the vet was exceptional. She cared for our 5 and a half month puppy with so much empathy. We could not fault her and despite it being difficult circumstances with an unwell dog. Megan made us feel comforted leaving him in her hands.

The worst experience ever. The veterinarian neither knew nor cared about the suffering of my dog. After I insisted several times about the pain my dog was in, he only prescribed paracetamol without even checking the ear — which was clearly the source of the pain. When I kept insisting, he finally looked at it but then said he couldn’t do anything because he didn’t know what the last vet had seen.
I do not recommend this company at all, especially their emergency service in Worthing. They charged me £401.58 for only five paracetamol pills and provided no real help or care. Absolutely disappointing and unacceptable.

We saw Francesca again and she was fab as she was when we saw her before . A really lovely lady with a sweet empathetic energy which makes things much easier for me.. I am terribly obsessive compulsive and when my support dog is sick I kinda go into melt down mode but am always calmed and reassured by Francesca, who is able to allay fears by explaining everything clearly but simplistically
These guys are the Marks N Sparks of vets and somehow always have professional, warm, very friendly staff So grateful to Francesca

Worthing branch although the care received was absolutely fine and the vet we saw on arrival ( Emily ) was lovely the overnight vet Christian should not have discharged me until my vets opened at 8am. I did query this twice however he said I needed to either transfer to Grove Lodge or leave to move my pet to my own vets and collect my dog at 7.30.I felt he constantly mentioned paying the bill as if was not going to pay it. It was also not made clear about how to claim on insurance and it seems you’ll also charge extra for assisting with this! It’s a shame it was such a poor experience. I echo the other reviews so expensive and it would have been nice if I had been informed that my costs had escalated from the £1500-2k originally quoted to almost £2700 so by quite a bit! I feel they take advantage of worried owners with the expensive fees also it’s weird that hospitalisation is charged in 7 hour blocks good way to make more money I’m sure! It would be wonderful if the charges were actually transparent on your website or the link you constantly share ie dog blood test £…to £… ect make it easier for everyone to understand rather than just trying to justify the costs.

All parts of the consultation very good.
Very busy and very expensive. I can see that some people just can’t afford to get pets the treatment they need and deserve.

Emergency appointment was easily obtained on a Sunday afternoon. Our dog was suffering with intermittent walking difficulties. Of course when we arrived at vet her demeanour had improved. The emergency vet is really only dealing with catastrophic visible conditions and felt it was merely an age related condition. I’m not sure what I expected, but I felt it was a very impersonal experience, no access to animals medical history from usual vet. Unfortunately, our dog declined again that evening with what could only be described as neurological. We had to wait until our usual vet was open next day, which was quite distressing all round, making the difficult decision of saying goodbye.

The vets were very thorough but gentle and reassuring with our puppy. They gave good advice to us and we felt confident that they had the knowledge and experience needed. They did not suggest unnecessary procedures. Our puppy is making very good progress now and recovering well.
