Received a 1986 bottle of clos du Rey as a gift. The cork completely disintegrated when I tried to open it and the wine had turned to vinegar.

I’m thrilled with the 50 year old Armagnac I ordered. It was a 50th birthday present and the free gifts included were of great quality and really added to the overall wow factor. The next day delivery really saved the day too, it was with me by lunchtime! I would highly recommend the company and I will use them again.

I spend way too much time on their webite! Having been raised by wine merchand parents in the Netherlands, that is the most exquisite wine shop I have ever encountered. All kinds of rare vintage drinks! I send anniversary gifts to all my friends in the UK and Europe. I mostly buy vintages for myself to taste rather than keep. I love their customer service too. Personal Assistant level. And they cover the wines for a year!

Received a gift of 1997 Crozes Hermitage as a gift. On the back of the bottle was the Sainsbury's label, recommending the wine be drunk within one year. Needless to say the wine was dreadful!

Ordered a £70 bottle of white wine from them for a gift for an important birthday so had to be delivered on the day. They promise "next day delivery if ordered before 14:00". The recipient was in lockdown in their house: there are 4 people in the house and a dog that barks whenever anyone approaches the house. The delivery company claimed they tried to deliver but categorically did not. Not the present is late. Very disappointing. No response from Vintage Wine Gifts.

I ordered a 1941 anniversary Taylor's port set last minute of Friday at 16:00. They could still deliver for Saturday !!! My dad was delighted with his 2 bottles of Taylor's that make his 80 years in life!!! Thank you Vintage Wine Gifts. I 'll definitely order again. Perhaps a 1941 vintage wine for me this time 🙂

Have used this company 3 times for a certain bottle of cognac each time sent wrong bottle even after ringing asking if the bottle is the one in the picture so I won't be using again

Purchased a bottle of a 1946 red for a 75th birthday gift; so far, so good. It was £239.77. The company state that they have a "no quibble price guarantee" - "If you find the bottle that you have purchased cheaper online within 30 days from the date of purchase, assuming the bottle is identical and available we will gladly refund the difference less the cost of the luxury box and accessories as we have to compare the like with like purchase. If the retailer is only selling the bottle then there is not a direct comparison and we will make an allowance for the box." Again, so far, so good. However, within a few days I found a bottle of the same vintage for sale online for £114.46... So, pretty much half price. I emailed them and sent them the link and the availability. They responded by saying I hadn't allowed for delivery costs. I replied that even with the delivery charge, excise duty and VAT, it was still £115 cheaper than theirs. Allowing for a cost price box and corkscrew (let's be very generous and say £15 total) that's a difference of £100. The "no quibble" price guarantee turns out to have a lot of "quibbles", and the last figure they offered me as a refund was £30. I'm holding out for the £100. Don't trust their "price guarantee" and don't buy their wine: I've discovered for myself, too late, that I can buy the same wine online at half the price then buy a posh box on Amazon for a tenner.

Be careful. My son was very disappointed to find that, in sending me "1941 Taylor Fladgate 80 years of port" for my 80th birthday, I in fact received not 1 1941 bottle but 2 x 40 yr old 35cl bottles. Very amusing and possibly lawyer-proof but not quite the thing.

After being let down by a big online wine company I had to scramble to find a replacement bottle and found one via WineSearcher at this website. I'd never heard of them before but they had the exact bottle I needed. Ordered on 22nd December and paid for next day delivery.

I was a little worried when I didn't get any kind of dispatch email later that day, but the bottle turned up well packaged with regular delivery updates from APC - the courier.

There's a comment below about the quality of the 'gift box'. To me, the plywood box they've shipped it in is to protect it during shipment and isn't intended to be displayed.

Anyway - dug me out a hole pretty close to Christmas and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Our 45th wedding anniversary and stuck in Lockdown so couldn’t spend with family. I bought my husband a bottle of Dow Port 1975. Ordered at 2.00pm and arrived next day. Excellent service. Presentation was perfect in a lovely box and variety of tools to accompany ie thermometer, corkscrew etc. The port was excellent and worth every penny

I was after 1977 Warres port for husband and came across this site...a little dubious as had a few of them, bit after an email I was satisfied that genuine bottle. I placed my order expecting 5 to 7 day delivery, only to receive it the next day. Beautiful presentation box and at a great price. Very happy customer.

I have to say that I my experience with vintagewinegifts was excellent. I phoned them before placing an order for a 1971 red wine. I was worried if the wine is corked being an old bottle, what happens. They 've got a policy of replacing a corked bottle within a year of purchase with a bottle of the same value. Phew! I ordered the bottle on a next working day delivery, which arrived the following day in a wonderful silk lined box with accessories. The courier exceeded the 2 hour estimate they texted me by 20 minutes but it is ok for me in COVID times. Happy Customer!

Would never use this company again. The owner insulted my wife calling her a “silly woman” during a phone conversation. This is all because our vintage bottle of 1965 wine was corked and not fit for human consumption. The owner took umbrage to our criticism (and he will do to any criticism); he did his best not to honour the three-month guarantee (which we were 2 weeks over) which sums up the level of customer service and lack of satisfaction guarantee We were eventually “partly” compensated with two bottles of very mediocre Italian wine which would have been a fraction of the price we paid. The gift box was cheap and nasty and not worth the additional cost, though people can easily get silk and satin mixed up. It also concerned us that the wine supplied was not professionally endorsed by a wine affiliation or federation for authenticity but maybe we missed something in the information as they do seem to have very complex small print T&Cs.

I am adding an addendum to my review made in 2020 in response to Giles reply sent yesterday16 April 2023. The experience I had was,with the then owner Tony Carter who was beyond obnoxious and bigoted. If the business now has a new owner Giles then can I request Giles gets in touch with me direct please. I would happily remove my review jf Tony Carter is no longer involved in the business.

Addendum 2
Our order was with Vintage Wine and Port and direct correspondence was conducted with Tony Carter using the same company name Giles oversees "vintagewinegifts". Therefore there has to be a business connection and as Giles seems to know who Tony Carter is then there is definitely a business affiliate. Too often we see different names,are used to hide what's under the big umbrella. I politely request Giles confirm the information on companies House shows both companies are entirely separate??? When that proof is provided I will remove my review. My guess is Giles is Tony Carters' new protogee given the task of tackling the justified negative reviews. To now question a review 3 years old is grabbing at straws!

I couldn't believe that i would ever find a bottle of claret that old and that delicious online. The perfect anniversary gift for our wedding. My wife was very pleased! Thank you vintage wine gifts! Also excellent Saturday delivery service!

Looked at the Vintage Wine Gifts site, very good, great choice of first class wines, and a nice wine accessory case was a very nice touch to go with a delightful bottle of vintage red for my daughter and husband who come to visit us in France several times a year. The advertises a good delivery service, even next day delivery, if you pay a premium. What could possibly go wrong. Ordered well before Xmas, a mid week day delivery the week before Xmas. Daughter runs a busy Beauty and Hair Dressing Salon, the business is open from 9am to gone 5am every day leading up to Xmas, the Salon is packed, the delivery should be a breeze? Wrong. I placed the oder on Wed Dec 18th, late afternoon, and paid for next day delivery, okay, expecting the 19th for delivery was optimistic, and it didnt happen, but hey ho, an email arrived saying delivery Friday 20th, up to 16OO hrs great.....happy. Did the wine arrive, no. So, rang Vintage Wines, closed for the holidays, left and answerphone message, and sent an email, 2Oth. By the way, still waiting for any response from Vintage Wines, its the 31st today. So, checked my email box, ah, we tried to deliver the wine, but there was no one at the Business Salon, 12pm Friday 20th, and we left a card in the mail box - lies, the Salon doesnt close for lunch, and the Salon was packed at lunchtime. So, I rang the delivery company APC Overnight, no, thats not a joke, ah, the gentleman explained, it was a relief driver that day, and we didnt manage the delivery ...... but you sent me an email saying you had tried and left a card, ah, i do apologise sir, we can only deliver now on late Xmas eve....To end, the wine has been delivered, all fine, good presentation box etc, but nowhere near the date promised. Vintage Wines should do as promised on their site, or, be realistic on delivery, Not Happy, Wont order again.
