Even a gift subscription isn't worth it

Setting up an account with a gift subscription you still have to provide your credit card. They don't charge you until your gift subscription is up then they assume you want your subscription to continue.

They provide no phone number so I'm still waiting to get refunded and while I'm waiting they ship another record which will make it so much harder now to get refunded.

Overall their site and customer service is awful

Getting missing/misdelivered shipments resolved is impossible. It's been weeks and they are still yanking me around so now I have the BBB involved.

Good service

They sent out the vinyls quickly and when they renewed my subscription without me asking, i got a refund the same day. Definitely recommend them and great customer service!!

Unreliable Service

I signed up to get notified for a limited edition press of an album I've been hunting for ages and I was simply not notified. The sale happened without me knowing and now it is sold out, probably never to get pressed again. Extremely disappointing and quite frankly rude. At first I thought i made a typo in my email when I signed up but they did however end up sending me various newsletters for other albums so I guess their notification system is either faulty or just bad. Will not be interacting with this label again.

This is the first time ordering from…

This is the first time ordering from this company and don’t think I will ever order again per their website it says if in stock will ship out immediately been over a week nothings been shipped out. Tried contacting them multiple times via email the only way you can get a hold of them and they will not respond to my emails.

Used them over 3 years on and off...out…

Used them over 3 years on and off...out of my 4 orders 1 was slow to arrive and at present 1 has not turned up. If you put VMP complaints..some articles pop up on reddit...Here some members are getting multiple issues of the same album free, where customers like me are still waiting..there response time to emails is bad..but they can still send out and bombard you with emails on up and coming titles...but all I want is the album order I paid for ..they have my money but I have no ablum...to be honest I would give this "shower" a wide birth..I have written to them 5 times got 1 response to my 4th email

Mixed feelings about VMP

I have very mixed feelings about VMP. On one hand, I love the production quality of the majority of their releases, especially when it comes to their records of the month. The devil’s in the details and they make sure to pay attention to every single detail, and I appreciate that given the premium prices that they charge.

On the other hand, as they've grown bigger, it seems like they've stopped caring so much about their customers’ music journey and started caring almost exclusively about their bottom line. Lately, there have been many production errors and delays in shipping while prices have gone drastically up, and they seem focused on trying to drain every last cent from the fans.

For example, they will repress an album by a big artist after growing demand from fans, but instead of just making that album available for purchase on its own, they’d bundle it with another record from that artist that hasn’t been selling as well. And the thing is, most of the big fans who asked for this repress in the first place, already purchased that other record before, so now they are forced by VMP to purchase it again in this $100 bundle so they can have the original album they wanted to get.

On top of that, if you are not a member, they will charge you $9.95 for shipping but then ship via USPS’s Media Mail service which is the cheapest and slowest option and doesn’t cost more than $4.

I was a member for some time, but honestly, their selections are very much all over the place and more often that not don’t feature records that I want/need in my collection (let alone for $43) which makes it hard to justify the monthly splurge.

Overall, I appreciate the effort they put in the quality of their products (for the most part), but I wish they didn’t indulge in these sneaky schemes to overcharge their customers. I understand vinyl is an expensive hobby, but it really doesn’t need to be as expensive as they are making it.

BADLY PRESSED ALBUM RECEIVED...NO RESPONSE FROM VMP

I ordered the Aaliyah album and just received it a few days ago, 4/1 to be exact and today is the 5th as I write this review.

I finally got time to listen to album this past Monday, the 3rd and IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! Its the very definition of a BAD PRESS! It has loud background noise behind every song on both albums (all four sides) in the collection! It also skips my needle around the album becuase the grooves are too shallow! In some areas of the album it actually sounds slowed down or sped up (I couldnt tell you how this possibly happens)! I emailed immidiately after listening to all four sides of both albums and also checking my record player with my other albums to make sure it wasnt damaged somehow. I have not received a response as if today!

I am quite irritated and a little concerned that they sent this purposely and are ghosting me to prevent having to issue a FULL REFUND or a replacement collection album!

Dragged my heels with joining this…

Dragged my heels with joining this after I read about it a while back but signed up this year as a treat to myself because they've had some absolute blinders as records of the month in the past. Am 2 records into a 3 month membership and the selections and experience has been great. Not had any problems with deliveries or defects yet but confident that these will be resolved quickly if I do. Have already changed my 3 month to a full 12 month membership at next renewal so you can't get a better endorsement than that.

Awesome subscription

Awesome

Really good quality exclusive records, had one record in the past go missing in the post but they sent out a replacement immediately. Kept subscription going longer than I intended as there's always something I can swap for. Definitely deserve higher ratings than what they've got on here atm.

This has to be one of the lamest…

This has to be one of the lamest experiences I've ever had. Their catalogue is nothing special. Who cares about special edition or colored vinyl. If it is essential, then you probably already own it. They also want your credit card information to start a gift subscription so they can automatically bill you when you forget to cancel. Curate your own music, don't let some else do it for you, and support your local record store not VMP.

Never got the record

Bought a record (without beeing member) but never got it. They sent me a tracking number that wasn’t valid. Had to claim on PayPal to get my money back.

6 months in and no plans to cancel

I’m now on my second 3 month subscription and have no plans of cancellation.
The customer service is phenomenal any issues and they send replacements extremely quickly.
For a record collector like my self these guys are brilliant! Exclusive pressings you’ll not find anywhere else at very reasonable prices and the sound quality is always on point.
This is an American based company who ship worldwide, I live in the UK and I generally receive orders within 10 days.
I would highly recommend this to anyone serious about music.

Awful sound and pressing on records!!!

I have purchased records from VMP before and the sound for each record has been good. I just received the Usher (Confessions) and Miranda Lambert (Revolution) and the pressing is awful, so the sound is hollow and distant. I thought it was my system but I have more than one record player and I tested them on each record player and the sound was the same, muffled. I looked on the website and wanted to return it for another copy because I thought that maybe I received a bad copy. Only to find out that they don’t even take returns… their records are NOT CHEAP, so for them not to work with you is pretty S#%%{ in my opinion. They give to advise to sell it on Discogs as they said their records sell 25% more then their original price but I would never sell a record that sounded like crap. Why would I? I think they should fix this and let the buyers return the items for another copy. Is only fair! Last time I would ever spend my money on this company! Never again!

Company took money for 2nd subscription period without authosation.

Avoid this company!
My husband signed up for 3 month subscription and subscription period was to end on 4 Jan 2022.
On 1 Jan 2022 they renewed the subscription without any notification and took out $226.21 aud from our account without authorization - we did not want a further 3 months as the first 3 months wasn’t worth the money!
They have ignored all emails and messenger correspondence.
Very dodgy do not subscribe with this company.

I was disappointed to see vinylmeplease…

I was disappointed to see vinylmeplease had such a low review score on here, so I had to pitch in with my excellent experience!
Sure, The price is a little steep, however VMP has introduced me to MANY great artists, and I've been subscribed for a year now + one addon subscription! I've bought MANY records in the store for good prices and I'm overwhelmed with their fantastic customer support.
I think the negative reviews are from people who are unsure what VMP really is, So be sure you're interested before you pay, But these guys are great.

I bought this as a gift for my wife

I bought this as a gift for my wife. It is a good concept ,but our experience was bad. It took 2 months for them to send my wife's order after she created her list. My wife was excited to open the order, soon to be disappointed. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to music. She didn't like not 1 of the 3 albums. Only 1 album was the genre she requested. I contacted the company via email they wouldn't replace them. I was extremely disappointed with customer service. I wouldn't recommend buying this membership.

Don’t waste your time with VMP... BUY LOCAL

Vinyl me please has no intention of fulfilling orders. If you pre-order an album don’t expect to get it. They will use your money to press the vinyl and then return it after the album has been made. Customer service is lacking and could use an upgrade. Not worth the hassle. Buy local and support the record shops who actually need you business.
