Had my Tiguan repaired under warranty…

Had my Tiguan repaired under warranty for significant water ingress to find a seal hadn't been fitted properly at build. six months later the problem has recurred and i have a river in my footwell. dealer tells me i cant have a courtesy car for 5 weeks but i need to have the car looked at immediately as i cant drive it with water sloshing around in it. vw cust care are really bad on the phone, speaking from a script with limited ability to connect with the customer nor autonomy to look after their needs. they should be hiring me a car to ensure i dont have to hire one at my own cost as this is defective workmanship and not my fault but they have no interest in looking after me as a customer. wont buy a VW again

I bought a t-cross approx nearly a year…

I bought a t-cross approx nearly a year ago and audio system poor. I had enough of this earlier this year and contacted i firstly found out my vehicle was no longer dealing with volkswagen. Terrible trying to get someone to get in touch with. I have now had diagnostic check done abd apparently nothing showed. I took this to volkswagen head office and dealt with in SOUTH AFRICA and really bad service. Sent 4 e-mails in last 11 days plus 2 calls and no response. They are now finding another t-cross like mine and let me drive it to see if same happens. Been waiting 5 weeks and no contact abd also during this time a recall on t-cross cars was made on 1st May but I never been told. I rest my case gor you to judge

Please heed my words, dont even think about going near a VW

Everything about my experience with VW has been appalling. They were late delivering the vehicle. The iD4 was a complete let down, and very poor value for money, and the experience went down from there. It took weeks for a recall to be completed with the vehicle sat at the garage. The return process was messed up and they charged me £246 for two dints in the passenger doors that I hadnt noticed had been done in a car park. If only every in life was as reliable as a VW.

Headlamp Deflection for European driving

Enquiry relating to Headlamp deflection when driving in Europe. First attempt totally failed to address the issue. Second attempt produced only advice that was available to anyone visiting Halfords and purchasing Eurolite stickers. For a major car manufacturer website it was as useful a chocolate teapot. Get your act together VW!

The 12-Year Rust Warranty Feels Like a False Promise

I purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance and expected a high standard of quality from a brand that advertises a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
Unfortunately, rust appeared on my vehicle after only a few years and with very low mileage. When I contacted Volkswagen, my claim was rejected because the specific type of corrosion was allegedly not covered by the warranty.
My biggest disappointment is not even the rust itself, but the gap between the marketing message and the reality of the warranty process. As a customer, when you see "12-year anti-corrosion warranty", you naturally expect support when corrosion appears on a relatively young vehicle. Instead, I was told that my case did not qualify.
The result is a complete loss of trust in the brand. A warranty that sounds impressive in advertising is of little value if corrosion appears and the claim is rejected. This experience has left a lasting negative impression and will strongly influence my future vehicle choices.
Very disappointing customer service and warranty support.

VW Stafford really stepped up this bank…

VW Stafford really stepped up this bank holiday. In short my oil cap slipped into the engine block whilst filling the engine with oil. Unable to move this left me stranded away from home in Leicester.
A huge thank you to Richard, Ellie and Ed for supplying a cap from a vehicle on site, as the parts and service departments were closed.
Many thanks again superb customer service.

VW Disappointed with my recent experience

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at Volkswagen Citygate Ruislip.
I bought my car from VW Norwich ID3 71 REG in 2023. Within half an hour of collecting it, an error message appeared. After returning the car, I was told updates had been done, but the problems continued.
I’ve always used VW Citygate Ruislip for my MOTs and servicing. In May 2026, an SOS error appeared, so I contacted customer services to check my warranty. I was told I had a 7-year warranty, so I booked an appointment. Just before my visit, I was told it only covered the battery, not the whole car. I cancelled because they wanted £250 just to diagnose the car.
I decided to keep my original appointment and paid the £250. When I got the report, it included a telematics fault (£599.16 to fix), outdated high voltage battery module software (£891 to update), and other minor faults. My car has only done around 34,000 miles and has been regularly serviced, so I was shocked. When I asked for an explanation, I was told it was just “bad luck.” I also questioned why the battery wasn’t covered under the 7-year warranty but didn’t get a clear answer. I asked if only VW could fix these faults, but again, no clear response.
I spoke to several independent EV engineers. They all said these faults should have been picked up during MOTs or servicing whist the car was in warranty too and might be covered by a recall or the battery warranty. I was told VW should have run a diagnostic check, and the high voltage battery fault would have shown up and been covered.
I did not realise my original warranty had expired when I called to rebook my appointment. During this call, I asked if I could buy a new warranty and use it to cover the fault. The representative said I could, but I’d need to wait 28 days for the new warranty to start. However, when I dropped my car off, I was told this was not the case. I was given conflicting and misleading information, which left me even more confused and frustrated.
I also want to know why the car’s request for updates was not identified or addressed during previous MOTs and services. As a customer, I rely on VW to keep my car safe and up to date. I’m concerned these important updates were missed, and VW seems to think this is acceptable.
This whole experience has caused me a lot of stress and anxiety and still my car has the outstanding issues As a loyal VW customer for nearly 10 years, I expected better. I no longer feel I can trust Volkswagen and will be looking elsewhere for my next car.
I hope VW will take this feedback seriously and improve their service and communication.

VW are hopeless

I booked a service for my Golf with my local dealer. I received a confirmation email but when I turned up this morning the dealer had no clue about my booking and turned me away. What a complete nightmare.

Extremely disappointed with the "Approved Used" quality from Crewe VW

I purchased a 2019 VW Polo from this Crewe dealership 18 months ago as an "Approved Used" vehicle. I chose a main dealer for the peace of mind that comes with their multi-point check, but I have been left deeply disappointed.

During my recent MOT, the car failed significantly with "Major Defects". All four tyres were found to have cuts deep enough to reach the cords/ply, and the track rod end ball joint dust covers were excessively perished. Furthermore, the health check revealed the brake fluid was in poor condition and needed replacement.

It is hard to believe that these issues developed entirely within 18 months of moderate driving. It suggests that the "rigorous" pre-sale inspection was either skipped or performed to a very poor standard. I have just had to pay over £1,060 to bring the car back to a safe and legal road standard—costs that I did not expect so soon after buying from a reputable VW dealer.

I expected much better from the VW Approved Used program. Buyers beware.

History of dreadful VW service

After experiencing issues with my Polo's infotainment system I spoke with their Digital Services dept and outlined my problem. As the Polo is still under warranty the agent requested me to send in a video to enable them to identify the issu ref 0004454704 this was sent on 1st May As I fully expected VW have not responded, apart from sending me promotions to purchase a new car.My experience of VW customer service is dreadful, this is my second Polo( my first new Polo had a hole in the floor)! so naturally, I have no faith in VW and I will never purchase another VW .

VW Group 1 car dealership

VW Group 1 in Otford Sevenoaks is a great company. We have been going there to service our VW cars since 1995. We have also bought some of our cars from the same dealership. But we do shop around. However we never shop around for servicing. They are excellent. Sales are helpful. Servicing is brilliant. Parts are amazing. If you want a VW buy here and service here.

My vehicle is not fit for purpose

I'm sorry to say this after many happily owned VWs but I have been sold a vehicle that is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE and no-one is prepared to help a loyal customer.
I have an ID3 purchased new in Feb 2024.
I was persuaded to accept a "new special edition".
Dreadful mistake.
It has low-profile tyres and I've just had my 7th flat in those 26 months.
I drive defensively, I take longer routes home to avoid pot-holes - all to no avail. The tyres just don't last and when you have a flat in an electric vehicle that's it! You can't limp anywhere!
These particular wheels have zero alternative tyre sizes. The price of new wheels is ... £1,400 EACH!!!!
I worry now every time I leave the drive!
I'm stuck with this nightmare for another 2 years.
No-one at Volkswagen will help.
If anyone at VW tries to offer you a "special edition" walk away!

VERY BAD SERVICE

I am writing to formally express my extremely negative experience with VW Bathgate.

In December, I booked my vehicle (VW Tiguan) due to issues with the automatic gearbox. On the day of my appointment, I was informed that no fault could be found. Despite this, I was still charged £72 for the inspection.

Shortly after leaving the garage, warning lights appeared and the vehicle became undriveable. I was forced to arrange recovery to have the car returned to the garage. Under these circumstances, I find it completely unacceptable that the initial fee was never refunded.

The vehicle then remained in their possession for nearly three weeks. During this time, I repeatedly requested a courtesy car. I was initially told one would be available within two days; however, every time I attended to collect it, I was informed that no vehicles were available. This continued for the entire duration of the repair, causing significant inconvenience.

In March, the same gearbox issue reoccurred, despite having supposedly been repaired by them. When I raised this, they refused to accept responsibility and instead quoted me £777.27 for further repairs.

I subsequently took my vehicle to an independent garage, where the same issue was resolved for £300, raising serious concerns about both the quality and pricing of the service provided by VW Bathgate.

Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing. The level of service, accountability, and communication fell far below what would reasonably be expected from an authorised dealership. I cannot recommend this garage and will not be returning.

Cynical and money grabbing

We have VW beetle from new 2017. There used to small things go wrong however those are clearly down to poor manufacture quality: central touch screen failed - VW solution: buy new unit for £1500; driver seat filling crumbling down due to material deterioration - no VW solution; software issue with central clock - VW pretends they know nothing about this despite thousands user reports in public domain - VW requests chargeable "diagnostics" and chargeable firmware upgrade - the fix is there as per publicly available information. I was lied into my face by VW call center agent, I was treated as lower kind of customer by City Gate service centre trying to charge me £200 for connecting the cable and uploading software upgrade. This is all due to manufacturer policy which was upheld and confirmed by VW call centre agent directly to me. That is extremely cynical attitude towards customer who trusted the German brand. As per my opinion VW does not have even a stand up offering of car range atm. I could not find anything interesting in huge showroom myself - apart of multiple shiny propositions to fool buyers to buy EVs.

I’ll never buy VW again…!!!

I don’t usually leave reviews, however following correspondence from Volkswagen UK suggesting that I had already posted feedback on Google (which I had not), I felt prompted to do so — so thank you for the nudge.

This experience with Listers Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Coventry and Volkswagen UK has been extremely disappointing from start to finish.

From the outset, the vehicle supplied to me did not match what I had ordered. This was not a minor oversight, but a series of issues involving both factory specification and agreed items. The vehicle supplied included multiple discrepancies, including:

• Rear door supplied with a window instead of the specified solid rear door
• Manual DPF regeneration system not supplied as ordered
• Original wheels that were meant to be provided were not included
• Agreed styling components, including front bumper canards, were not supplied
• The vehicle was supplied with incorrectly spaced number plates (“P51N TS” instead of “P51 NTS”), which I understand are not compliant with UK road regulations

To be clear, the vehicle was handed over in a condition that did not match the agreed specification and, in the case of the number plates, raised concerns regarding compliance for road use.

To be fair, Listers did offer options to resolve the situation, including replacing the vehicle or offering a goodwill gesture. However, the replacement vehicle would have taken months, which was not a practical solution, and the goodwill gesture offered (£500) did not come close to reflecting the cost or impact of the issues. For example, the incorrect rear door alone would have cost approximately £1,800 to rectify.

What followed was an equally disappointing aftersales experience. Instead of a smooth and proactive resolution, I found myself having to chase repeatedly, explain the situation multiple times, and effectively manage the process myself. At no stage did I feel that the situation was being handled with the level of urgency or professionalism I would have expected from a main dealer representing a brand like Volkswagen.

Eventually, the only workable resolution was for Listers to buy the vehicle back. While this might sound reasonable on the surface, the outcome still resulted in me being financially worse off due to issues that were not of my making.

Hoping for a more balanced and customer-focused approach, I escalated the matter to Volkswagen UK. Despite acknowledging that the level of service fell below expected standards, Volkswagen UK declined to take any meaningful ownership of the situation and deferred responsibility back to the retailer.

Initially, a small goodwill gesture was mentioned; however, this was later withdrawn, leaving no form of compensation despite the circumstances.

For context, I have been a loyal Volkswagen customer for many years, having owned six previous Volkswagen vehicles, two of which I currently still drive. This makes the overall experience even more disappointing.

The entire process has been frustrating, time-consuming, and ultimately left me financially worse off as a result of errors outside of my control.

I would strongly advise others to check every detail thoroughly before accepting delivery, as once issues arise, you may find yourself in a similarly drawn-out and disappointing process with limited support.

A very poor experience from both Listers and Volkswagen UK.
