Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the user experience, frequently encountering issues like terrible matchmaking with constant "uptiers" where they faced much stronger opponents. Customers also felt that the game's pricing and value for money were poor, often describing it as "pay to win" and criticizing the need to spend money to progress or acquire better vehicles. Some people also felt that the product's quality was ambiguous, with concerns about overpowered premium vehicles and perceived national bias in vehicle performance and game mechanics. However, a few other people also felt that the game was enjoyable and that many of the complaints stemmed from a "skill issue" or playing the wrong mode, highlighting that it is a free-to-play game with good graphics.

If i could give a 1/2 star i would

If i could give a 1/2 star i would, this game has so many problems and issues that have not been delt with..you should only be able to use 1 plane per battle, and the STOP CROSS PLATFORMING WITH PC's, they ruin the game for console players... War thunder has proven to be one of the worst games out there... There's nothing realistic or accurate about this game... Play at your own risk I wouldn't spend money and get ready to get mad.... Players are going to the game SQUAD now, because even the content creators are getting sick of war thunder... There's really nothing good to say about this game......

Player since 2013

Player since 2013, Rus Ger US tree in naval, aircraft and tanks.
Literally no way to contact Gaijin, non existant customer support. Why ? Because there actions and behaviors show they do not care about the players. Largest complaint is the matchups. So so simple to fix but they refuse and offer BR exploit vehicle to overpower match. BR 7.7 rank 5 will be up against 8.7 BR 6 over and over again. It would be like entering a Mazda miata in a formula one race.
The developers decided it would be best to lock your account although only for 10 minutes at a time if you do not finish the match. This means you must up your tanks for enemy to destroy which cost you silver. Seems like a counterintuitive customer service approach. Lets upset everyone off and lock there account for ten minutes at a time.
Honestly, I look at the BR spread and just disconnect 9 out of 10 times. Its not just me its everyone. This continues to lead to a grossly unbalanced match. 10 vs 7 with a f u BR for the match. Now the entire team is obliterated with Enemy waiting in spawn to shoot you.
So that's the match up I get after 10 years of playing this game. I cannot remember a worse customer service interface or organization. Try and send them an email with a question, try and contact them. There is also clearly an issue with china players using us servers. IMHO they are all hackers, send a video or screenshot of hacking, try and get a response. Its a giant Gaijin cash grab

Woefully inaccurate, inconsistent and unrealistic…

For a game that seems to be spoken about as an accurate tank simulator it’s a joke.

The fact some medium tank in WW2 is taking 3-4 well placed HEAT shells from a panzer VI then one whacks you just because it’s Russian is a joke. It’s just pure Russian propaganda it seems and panzers had flaws but they were not that easy to whack out from things like a F Stuart tank. Joke

Keep away

Played this game for a few months so I can write a review based on time spent. I have also spent the last 30 years playing games on PC/Console (this is the worst by far) Keep away this game is so bad ! Yes the graphics are ok and that's about as good as it gets. Russian armor is seriously over powered. Game is clearly bias towards Russian armor and for that matter air as well its a joke. I have to agree with many of the other reviews pointing to the same issue/s. Customer service is terrible. They constantly ignore the many, remove posts (pointing to the Russian armor and air bias). I wont get into the large amount of money or many hundreds of hours you have to spend to level up in this game. My advice save your money and your time there are far better games out there than this one.

The game is rigged

The game is rigged. Free players not only have to cope with inferior equipment but have that equipment sabotaged by Gaijin. Vehicles disabled at spawn, sights miscalibrated, engine stalls, main gun misfires, interceptor guns jamming, interceptors spawning in the wrong direction, inaccurate artillery, 105mm sabot rounds that shatter on the sides of BMPs, weakened armor, inability to lock onto targets. Then there's the ping in Australia, servers crashing, the game crashing. Gaijin is corrupt & grifts players.

This game is literally a waste of time

This game is literally a waste of time. Time before there are sufficient players for the game to start, time for the map to load, time before you can start rolling, time to get to where the action is happening and then you get killed. And then you have to wait for you tank to be repaired. You could spend money to speed things up, but I personally don't see anything about the game that would persuade me to part with my readies.
There are elements that intrigue me. Like how can a heavily aroured SP Gun be disabled and destroyed by machine gun fire but an armour piercing shell fired by the same vehicle into the vunerable back of an enemy tank causes no damage at all. Rubbish

nice looking game

nice looking game, with a lot of vehicles, nicely modeled. with very god terrains
very often up tiered, with a weird feeling that the game is rigged and since it is difficult to get high tier vehicles, it attract a lot cheaters.
it seems like gaijin cant or wont handle cheaters.
play low tiers, don't pay unless you have fun and gaijin fixes their greed an problems with rigging/cheaters

After ca 10 years of playing War…not worth it anymore

After ca 10 years of playing War Thunder, where I have gathered all skills and have tried all parts of the game I may freely say: the game is broken. Particularly upper level (BRs) do not provide any experience worth of effort and money. Although I am skilled player with paid Premium account I can hardly compete anymore. The game has become a game of reflexes and P2Win tanks, planes have huge advantages.
Unless you have a couple of hundreds $ per year the game is simply a frustration. There are much better games out there.

Pay to Progress and win

Mid game, grindy as hell. Pay to win/progress. Not F2P friendly. Dailies and Free BP stuff are okay, but not enough. This rating will not change. Game is filled with grass with tank campers, 699% accurate sweaty players and bots. Play at your own risk and mentality.

Very expensive time waster

Nothing about realism advertised applies in-game, devs chose quantity over quality, and it made the experience buggy, infuriating and not fun. The in-game progression is very rough and basically impossible without dedicating your whole life to it, which forces you to spend money to enjoy it.

russian propaganda game

russian propaganda game. should be delisted from Steam™️ as it contains controversial political messaging. In this game the stats of russian tanks are fictiously overinflated while realistically modeled ie armor, spall liner, shell explosive filler grain count. Likewise "nato" tanks are underpowered in the games Stat balancing which is chosen by the developers at Gaijin Entertainment. Likewise they deploy a 0.001 chance lootbox scam model that hides the odds with oblique dice symbols that have no explanation or meaning furthermore the currency to gamble with these lootboxes is only obtainable with real money, so they also run illegal gambling in multiple jurisdictions and countries. The developer and seller of this product, Gaijin Entertainment, likewise has weak and bias terms of service enforcement; chinese and russian players are not punished or held liable in any way and are allowed to use third party hack and cheats with total impunity, this is a flagrant disrespect and unethical practice against their customers in the west and constitutes an illegal practice of discrimination qualifying them for reprimand if they wish to continue raking in many millions of America and indeed nato money. I will be making corresponding complaints to the Federal Trade Commission in regards to the illegal gambling, as well as other reports to appropriate authorities and they will already be sent in by the time this review goes up. So please do not take my words as hollow or incendiary, and kindly allow my review to go up. Thank you

Unrealistic for some nations and lack of effort but can be improved

right where do i even begin, the game is not a bad game however its mainly pay to win but if you are a experienced player then you may be fine. This is not my main point. My main point would be how under performed some nations are compared to other nations such as you guessed it RUSSIA. Especially Britain. This major nation has a lack of ground vehicles and they all perform like garbage. The challenger 2 and 3 tanks are an utter disgrace and is unrealistic in the way that they perform. Particularly in amour and fire power. They make Russia OP mainly in armor. Shoots DM53 right through its frontal amour plate and only takes out 1 of the 100 tiny amour plates on the tank. So unrealistic. I would also like to add that the lack of ground vehicles for Britain is so underwhelming. At least add more ground vehicles for a major nation such as Russia or Germany. Lastly this games RB system is shocking. So unrealistic. Especially in Realistic ground battles. This game needs some serous fixes just like the ones that i have addressed because if they dont then this game is down right appalling

PAY TO PLAY GAME

What i noticed, typically russian game where russian tanks are overpowered making balance unfair to otheres.
You can tell by comparing the Same BR where russian tanks at zero researched modules start with all penetrating ammo's and harder armors leaving them unfair.
Their implement BR and Eras where higer era tanks are harder or impossible to destroy 1vs1 but this does not apply to russian tanks their Era 2 is easily destroying era 5-6 tanks where others are not.

You can notice this is some sort of communism they are living in where no matter what they are showing to others that russia is the best, where they are simply uneducated murderers killing innocent people as we see in modern history and it the history books

BIG FU*** NO TO THIS PEACE OF S--H--I--T

THIS IS PAY TO PLAY GAME
