The most incompetent company there is

I genuinely struggle to put into words just how awful this company's service is. Incompetence doesn’t even begin to describe the level of sheer idiocy on display here. For three years (yes, three entire years) they managed to screw up the addresses of nearly every apartment in the building. And get this: even after confirming three separate times that the issue was fixed, they still kept sending bills with the wrong information. You’d think at some point they’d stumble into competence by accident, but no, they stayed consistently useless.

Then, as if their long-running incompetence wasn’t enough, when we finally cut ties and canceled our contract, they botched the final bill too. They charged us for an entire month after the contract ended, even though their own system confirms we’re no longer their client.

This company is a bureaucratic disaster, a black hole of common sense, and an insult to the concept of customer service. I’m beyond relieved to never have to deal with this clown show again, that is, once I claw back the money they incorrectly charged. Avoid them like the plague.

Awful provider

Awful provider - run!
I was living in the apartment from Aug till Feb in 2021 and 2022 accordingly. In 2024 they at first sent me some ridiculous amount to pay for the 1,5 months I was living there. In 2025 they are sending me more "dept" notifications for 2021.

Worst service

Gave us amount of 1440 eur for consumption. Not even helpful in telling what is the problem. The water meter was faulty, but no support to remediate this issue.

Worst customer support who are not understanding and not helpful.

If only there was a rating below 1…

If only there was a rating below 1 star. The worst service possible. So many problems with this company, sending out my taxes to collection agencies without sending it to me first. Or they send invoices for an apartment you moved out of 2-3 years ago. They just choose to send letters whenever they feel is best - even their employees can't give explanations

A horrible company with the worst…

A horrible company with the worst customer support in existence.

They send bills from 2020, 2022 with additional costs like it's a normal thing. Their finance system is an enormous mess, and their customer support is extremely rude.

Worst customer service.

I was a Waternet customer from September 2022 to July 23. Always paid my dues. Several months after leaving and closing everything in Amsterdam I received an email imposing me to pay 75 euro in addition without explaination. Tried to contact them to understand. No answer. Now I received an email from Vesting Finance imposing me to pay 198 euro. With no reasonable explaination. I feel abused by this approach. I want to pay but I cannot because they only accept Dutch banks and I live abroad and closed my Dutch bank account end of July 2023.
I sent them several emails asking for a feasible way to pay but no answer. This is just abuse of power.
Don’t move to the Netherlands, you will end up in a totalitarian way of living with customers, especially strangers, having no rights.

7 months reply

They reached out to me 2 years after I left my place regarding a bill I never heard off (of course with interest) when I inquired about it they took 7 months to reply and now adding extra interest on top of it, ridiculous

Unbelievable

This company behaves like a criminal organization. They make constant mistakes with their administration and they will send you to debt collection without prior communication.

I would think twice before moving to Amsterdam just because of Waternet

In all honesty, if you can live somewhere where Waternet doesnt handle the water, i would strongly suggest you to move there instead.

I have never dealt with a more rude and incompetent company in my entire life, and I work customer service too.

They keep passing my issue from agent to agent and no one knows what they are talking about. They give you wrong explanations as if you were stupid. The agents have loads of attitude and will not hesitate to scream at you or talk over you. I had to see my pregnant wife crying over the phone because one of the agent was screaming at her saying “well this is it if you dont like it its your problem”. Absolute shocking.

We keep receiving invoices from 2 years ago from an adress where we were not living there anymore. We have sent them proof of deregistration from Waternet and from the Gemeente Amsterdam and they dont care. Now we have debt collectors chasing us for a bill that is not ours.

They should be taken to court. Their behaviour is criminal.

The worst company I have faced in the Netherlands. Their website is so terrible. Management of personal data terrible, bill management: tracking reminding are horrible. Customer care personels have no clue and can't be of any help.

I was transferred directly to the debt …

I was transferred directly to the debt collection for a bill not paid in 2021 (the first bill) even though I agreed to be automatically deducted monthly.
I never received any email, or a letter to inform me about this payment. And of course, I would have paid it but instead, 2 years later I am transferred directly to the debt collection with 40 euros in interest to pay + the original bill! Could they not let me know via email that if no payment was received I would be transferred to a debt collection? After contacting both, no resolution has been found and I obviously had to pay about 60 euros for something I was not even aware of.

Non-existing customer support

Non-existing customer support. Live-chat not working. You call them, no one picks up - no information if you are in a queue. Been on the phone for 20 minutes now - no clue if they will ever answer.

Wish me luck. For now, what a total sham.

Update: They picked up. Told me that they can't help me right now and that I have to call back in the afternoon and that there are no other way to contact them. This is like something out of a comedy-movie.
