I had some difficulty after buying a pair of replacement valves for my power amplifier. Derek talked through the issues with me on the phone, then posted me a replacement component which arrived overnight. It transpired that I needed to replace a valve; Derek very generously allowed me to buy a single valve so that I would have a working matched pair. All of this a few days before Christmas! I feel well looked after,

The items were in stock, promptly dispatched and arrived the next day very well packaged. Great Communication from Derek - can't ask for more!

I'd received from Watford Valves an intermittently faulty Carling DPDT footswitch to be used in a Crybaby wahwah true bypass modification. (The switch sometimes randomly cut out completely when depressed.) After much testing to verify that the switch was indeed the source of the problem, I reported the fault to WV by telephone, and without further ado received a replacement footswitch in the post the very next day, and free of charge. The new switch has so far been perfect. (Apparently Carling switches are usually super reliable, so I'd just been unlucky.) I'm completely satisfied with the customer service I have received from Watford Valves regarding this issue, and would be confident to use them again. I have been a customer of watford valves for many years, buying Valves and loudspeakers. Derek's advice has always been spot on and I have never been dissapointed with anything I purchased from him. As an example, one of may favorite amps is my Laney LC30 that I bought second hand about five years ago. It is a super all valve amp, but with the fitted Celestion 70/80 speaker, it was a little harsh for me. I spoke to Derek and he recommended the Celestion creamback. It was the Perfect choice, the harshness was gone and the tone both clean or overdrive using one of my Les Pauls was absolutely superb. Recently, I was getting the occassional pop from the amp when hitting power chords and a gentle tap on the TAD output valves showed that one was shorting internally. I rang Derek and asked Him which were the best EL84's and he recommended are his Harma brand, the same as used by Brian May. I ordered a set on on Thursday and they arrived Friday morning. I Fitted them and the improvement in sound was instantly noticable. The amplfier was now much more "alive." The original vavles had been on the way out but had still sounded good, These Harma's are superb and its like its on steroids now!!! I'm really pleased. Thanks Derek!

I had recently had an issue with my Mesa Boogie guitar amp. Derek was incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond what might have been expected.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Watford Valves.

I have used Watford Valves for many years all top service. Where they stand out is knowledge of the products and a true understanding of HiFi and sounds.
On their advice, I bought KT120 to replace my KT88.
Their description of the sound upgrade was spot on. A wonderful upgrade. I contacted the makers of my amplifier in Holland and they confirmed the upgrade.
Happy with advice, upgrade, prompt service, and delivery. Well done.

I ordered 2 EL34 valves sent wrong ones but i emailed them they were very apologetic sent right ones next day to be honest couldn't really fault the service they were spot on and yes I would use them again

Worst Customer Service Ever From this company Watfordvalves! Bought pairs rectifier tubes, but royalmail delivery to unknown address then I made contact to WatfordValves and received a response from a Person name Derek Rocco saying that I need to contact Royalmail and find out, and I did that and told Royalmail that my item marked as delivered but I didn't receive then Royalmail gave me a complain reference number and told me to claim for refund from the shipper, and I did that but the the shipper(Watfordvalves) keep telling me look for the item everywhere because the item was marked delivered, then I did that I also asked my neighbours but Nop no ones received my items.

Then I made phone call and told them that this is urgent that I need my refund because I didn't receive my items and they need to claim with the Royalmail complain reference number, but they sent me another email with a long story saying that the claim will fail because the item marked as delivered and this never happened before.

I then gave up with them and told them that I'll dispute from my Bank and get my refund!

Buyers Beware this company is Dodgy! If you care about your time and money don't buy from them anything i have learned a lesson and ill always remember this!

As per others here, down the years i made two attempts to buy output valves from Derek, (sovtek kt66s and Jan Philips 6L6s). Both pairs were unusable faulty junk, both times he refused refund or replacement. The expensive Jan Philips NOS valves looked and performed like weeded out rejects from another retailer. Never ever again. Bye now Derek...

I would like to thank Derek for all his help and fantastic service, ordered a new set of valves for my EAR V 20, 30 in total, they arrived within 48hrs, I spent a couple of hours removing my old vales(around 15yrs) and fitting the new set, everything is working fine and even on the first listen my system is sounding more like it did when I first bought the amp, hopefully it will get better with use.

Accepts no responsibility for anything he sells. I had faulty valves from him that he wouldn't accept back (blamed my amplifier, which I proved was fine by putting the old valves back in) and had Marshall style knobs from him that were advertised incorrectly.

He never accepted the valves back, he just constantly interrupted me over the phone and wouldn't let me explain. The knobs I didn't back down on, but it took days to get him to accept them back. Avoid at all costs.

I contacted Derek for advice on replacing the speakers in my Trace Elliot bass cabinet. He was very helpful via email and over the phone and the prices on his website are good. I ordered two of the speakers he recommended then discovered that the fault in my cabinet was just a loose wire. Derek was totally fine with me cancelling (as he hadn't sent them out yet) and happy that I'd found and sorted the problem. Thanks mate.

A genuine guy and I wouldn't hesitate to use his site again when I (really) need new speakers, valves, or accessories.
