We are constantly told to be…

We are constantly told to be environmentally conscious yet this council cannot even collect the food waste bins .If they can’t be bothered why should I.This council has got to be the most useless council and that’s saying something, that I have ever encountered.

Wealden district Council

The Councils that destroy businesses still go into work on Monday as usual. Public systems seem to be running on autopilot, prioritizing expansion or bureaucracy over meaningful service. It’s hard not to feel disillusioned when there's overdevelopment in a community without corresponding improvements in healthcare, education, transport, or infrastructure. And when visible accountability seems absent, it can feel like people are being managed rather than served. It’s no longer possible to cycle through Westham Village the road is an absolute disgrace.

Degrading

Horrible and degrading. I was directed by my support to seek help, I have no fixed abode with circumstances of abuse as well as disability. I sought help and they were so degrading re asking invasive questions in an interrogative way implying that I was lying multiple times, yet at the same time called me selfish for relying on friends for help in desperate times. They stated I would need to provide evidence of abuse and threatened to call the abuser to ask their side of the story when I said I was scared this would antagonise my situation they told me that was unreasonable and therefore questioned my integrity on the matter. They just sent me an extremely invasive questionnaire that has allot of questions I’ve already answered more than once in my interview as well as excessive administrative details that I can’t manage. I didn’t think it would help after this but I tried to speak with Brighton council instead as I don’t feel I have options and they didn’t do anything near this level of detailed insensitive questioning and re questioning and helped me with the administrative side or told me it’s okay if I don’t know the answers and to just do what I can. It is nothing short of cruel to treat vulnerable people this way. I was interviewed by Ben Sharples, I don’t name you just for shame but after speaking with others and seeing how wrong that experience was I know it’s important I address this and hope in the future people are treated with decency and perhaps better training is provided to support your interviewers to not unnecessarily degrade vulnerable people in these ways.

Family of 4

Family of 4, 2 with ASD. Have another 2 children staying at weekends. Partner has MS even though he works full time. Only allowed a tiny black bin. Will not give bigger bin. Pay thousands in council tax and estate maintenance. Cant always get to the tip as I’m a nurse and work shifts.
No wonder fly tipping is increasing. Absolutely fuming and disgusted with Wealden Recycling and waste. Shame on you !!

Pardon the pun but this is rubbish

As my recycling collecting was not complete I tried to call and ask for it to be collected. As there was not any answer,I called back later in the day. A very helpful lady said it would be collected early the next week. As it was not collected I called back again, and after a lengthy hold, I was eventually told to up load photos and they would look into it! Pardon the pun, but this is a rubbish service!

Extremely poor service in every aspect

I am a tenant and so far we have been waiting since April for our rear fence to be repaired/replaced as it is rot and the dog to the rear keeps poking his head through and barks and tries biting us and my grandkids.our house is under-insulated and below the standards it should be to be precise loft insulation is 200mm to thin and no cavity wall insulation.as well so we are paying a fortune to keep it warm.the repairs service is absolutely rubbish never reply until 2/3 days later if you are lucky and then that’s useless.we pay full rent and full tax and do maintain our house ourselves to a high standard.
Absolutely disgraceful they do still get there rent every month without fail but don’t provide the services in there tenancy agreement.

Unimpressive communications.

Wealden sent me a demand for overdue Council Tax. I immediately responded by paying over half, which was more than what was due up to that point in the Council Tax year, putting me well in credit.

Wealden made no attempt to demand the balance, issue any sort of account statement, or clarify that my customary payment of half every six months was no longer acceptable.

Instead they proceeded immediately to a Summons.

I am thoroughly unimpressed by their lack of transparency and clarity.
