Carrots have the diIsease E Coli, and refunds are difficult

Summary:

- they may have given me the disease E Coli with their “Wegmans brand” carrots
- to get a refund of my $1.69, I have to go into the store with the unused portion
- when I get to the store with the unused carrots, they also want the original bag, even though they had a record of when I bought it
- no bag, no $1.69 refund
- GFY, Wegmans

Details:

I may have the disease E Coli because I took a risk on “Wegmans brand” carrots, but they make it much worse.

The disease E Coli takes up to 10 days for symptoms to show, and it’s a nasty disease. It’s also CONTAGIOUS, so I may have passed it on. Thanks, Wegmans.

However, I’d be ok with that, because they probably got the carrots from some other company, and things happen.

Wegman’s calls me and tell me about the recall, because they have a record that I bought it through my loyalty card. OK so far.

They say I have to return the unused portion (which was a lot). I put them in a bag, and make a trip about 20 minutes before closing time, and assume they’ll say what any store would say – “we’re sorry, and just go get a replacement”.

No, I have to wait for the night manager, who then

- wants to see the original bag
- needs my phone number to look up when I bought it
- wants to know what date I bought it on, as if I have a “Carrots calendar”
- I say, “you have the computer records in front of you, and you sold me the carrots”
- he gives his response, with his 5 face rings and flamboyant attitude, “I didn’t sell them to you”
- he can’t do it without the bag and the bar code

I just gave up and left. Keep your $1.69 refund, Wegmans.

No wonder they have 2.6 stars out of 5 yelp reviews

Final score:

Me: 0 (although I may have E Coli)
Wegmans: Saved $1.69 refund price, and contributed a deadly disease to the community

Food choices were outstanding but the Asian hot bar was HORRIBLE.Taste was very bad.Dried out food, half of the choices were empty. Not the quality expected for the price. This was in your Wake Forest,NC store, normally stores in this area are higher quality.I was also told by a regular customer that the bar was taken down at one time but has recently put back in the store.Maybe consideration should be made to remove it permanently as it was horrible, not anywhere close to standard.

Excellent Customer Service

My husband, I love shopping Wegmans. We drive 30 minutes or more to shop the store. This store is located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania and we find such a friendly staff so helpful. Bryson in the deli, Ethan grocery check out & Haley behind the counter at the service desk. Each focused solely on the request each was asked about. Thank you Wegman’s!

I'M SENIOR CITIZEN AND HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT 499 LAFAYETTE STREET. THESE SO CALLED MANAGERS YOUNG WHITE AND IMMATURE FEMALES LIKE SUSAN NEAR OR AROUNG THE CHECKOUT ARE INEPT AND POORLY TRAINED

They recently opened a store in New York City at 499 Lafayette Street. Two associates by the name of Megan and Susan, so called "managers" in and around the checkout area are inept with customer care concerns. They're immature, incompetent and poorly trained. I'll never bother shopping at any WEGMANS store again, nor will I recommend friends.
Susan what you did tells me that you have no empathy or concerns for the elderly. So is this a summer job while the school year is on break? SUSAN you're immature and rather stupid.
YES YOU'RE A LOSER! - WHAT YOU DID TO ME, WAS UNCALLED-FOR AND TELLS ME YOU LACK ANY EMPATHY AND RESPECT FOR SENIOR CITIZENS! You must've had a crappy upbringing from your parents. This job you have at Wegmans is not for you! Go move on and seek another line of work. GET A LIFE! I think you're in need of a spanky for being a bad girl! Shame on you Susan!!!
As the saying goes: IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE HEAT, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

SHAME on Wegmans Pharmacy

SHAME on Wegmans Pharmacy. Their “new” policy Does Not Allow any special orders any longer. So customers can no longer request a specific manufacturer ( made in the USA). Instead they are stocking drugs manufactured outside this country…from China, India, etc. Quality becomes “questionable “ for some drugs from other countries. Where has their Customer Satisfaction gone??

Quality changed

I use to love this supermarket but everything has changed because of the economy. They had the best tofu, salon and crab legs but now everything looks old. The portions of the pre-cooked food are high but quantity is small.

Wegmans is only out for profit

Wegmans is only out for profit, and they don't care about their customers. I recently purchased a veggie sub from Wegmans Irondequoit location. I regularly purchase them, about once per week. On this particular visit, I ordered my usual sub. They make the subs behind a 4½ foot wall, so you can't see what they’re putting on your sub. When I got home, the sub had very few ingredients, it was mostly just bread. I contacted their "customer service", and included a copy of my receipt. They gave me the run around, thanking me for the feedback, but making no effort to satisfy me (a free replacement sub would have been what any other reputable company would have done). I sent a follow up email, and was told my complaint would be sent to the store's manager, and that he would contact me, which NEVER happened! The case was handled by "Julie". So, they ripped off a senior citizen for $15.00. Wegmans has zero customer service. They've lost this customer.

Incompetent employees and…

Incompetent employees and management. One "end cap" had Dove soft soap on sale for $5.99 so I grabbed one. At the register, it rang up as $6.99, even though I scanned my Wegman's card. I had the cashier call a manager to check the price. I told him it was on the 'end cap'. After a few minutes I went looking for him and he was in the middle of the store looking for the soap. I brought him back to the "end cap" and showed him the BIG price sign. But then he couldn't figure out how to correct the price at the register, even after three tries. I left the item and checked out without it. I then went to the customer service desk and asked for a manager. Who shows up? The idiot who could not figure out how to correct the price. I asked for the store manager. After waiting and waiting, and waiting some more I finally left. No wonder they are losing customers.

From Rochester, Ny where Wegmans started

I lived near Rochester, NY. my whole life. I'm 68 now, and remember when the first Wegmans store opened in Rochester. They were great then. But now it's just a money grabbing corporation. Their prices are off the charts now, unless you're rich. Talk about price gauging! But they give plenty of money for donations just to make themselves look like their interested in the community.

Downward slide

There are just so many things. 1ST the stockers block the isles so you can't get to stuff and interfere with their work. Some mornings Wegmans is full of stockers and it is almost impossible to shop. Today i couldn't get a couple subs because 5 people were working on sub platters for 2 women who just walked in and ordered. Salmon Farm raised with skin they quit keeping in the case, you can only buy it prepackaged. Meats i stopped buying there because of the way they package it. I get frustrated leave and go to Miniers in Big Flats (Great Meats) (Best Meats)

The pharmacy in Burlington MA is poor. They fail to be consistent with follow-up, are frequently unable to get meds on a timely basis, and are quick to blame others and dismiss feedback. So disappointing.

THE FIRST TIME I BUY PREPARED FOOD AT…

THE FIRST TIME I BUY PREPARED FOOD AT WEGMANS AND IT TURNS OUT TO BE ROTTEN. DANNY'S SPECIAL SUB WAS A DRY SANDWICH THAT DID NOT EVEN RESEMBLE A SUB. A FEW PIECES OF UNIDENTIFIED MEAT, 1 THIN TOMATO SLICE, NO CHEESE, NO ONIONS, NO SHREDDED LETTUCE INSTEAD THERE WERE SPINACH AND DANDELION LEAVES! I WAS SPEECHLESS.
THE INSTACART PERSON THAT DELIVERED IT WAS A DRAB UNFRIENDLY CREATURE WHO GAVE ME A SANDWICH NOT EVEN MADE FRESH. LEFT OUT ALL NIGHT FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY.
I GREW UP IN ROCHESTER NY WITH WEGMANS. THIS IS NOT THE WEGMANS I KNOW.
WE LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND WENT TO THE WEGMANS STORE IN WAKE FOREST.
I THOUGHT FOOD LION AND HARRIS TEETER WERE BELOW AVERAGE. I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND AFTER VISITING THIS STORE THIS MORNING.
I HAVE ASKED INSTACART FOR A REFUND.
I WAITED SO LONG FOR A WEGMANS DOWN HERE AND NOW AFTER 18 YEARS I WAITED FOR NOTHING. GARBAGE STORE. IT IS BEING RUN INTO THE GROUND BY 2 TWITS. SO SAD.

Wegmans products went wrong

Wegmans products went wrong!
Wegmans use to sell a lot of different brands before but they’re promoting their own and it’s not that great. And they use to sell organic rotisserie chicken but now it’s all conventional! Same with the salmon… I could choose from organic wild caught to now it’s all farm raised! I trust Wholefoods Market more vs Wegmans. Bye bye. It’s started in 2023 and now in 2024 it’s progressively getting worse

Cost are driving customers away

Wegmans has probably some of the best produce of all the local stores however the prices are unbearable high and they force feed their brand by pricing national brands out of reach. We used to do 90 to 95% of our shopping their. It's well below 10% now.

I recently visited the Owings Mills

I recently visited the Owings Mills, MD Wegmans. So disappointing! I just popped in to grab a bakery item for a customer and decided to grab a piece of pizza. The woman at the counter was rude and sold me a $4 piece of cold pizza. I love the Hunt Valley store but this one is not one I would recommend.

Wegmans have for decades reduced and…

Wegmans have for decades reduced and modified the recipes from the company’s they purchased or did business with and literally destroyed recipes that were previously very profitable and popular! Which the company has destroyed. The consumer has been paying more for the wegmans brand products that they’ve been selling and eliminating name brand products! The wegmans products are lacking in quality and they want to charge more money for lackluster products!

Worst Grocery Store Ever

I have lived in the D.C. area for decades - before Wegman's came to VA. I had to move twice for a few years for my husband's job. Wegman's has so little selection. They push their brand, which is awful. Now the ONE THING I have bought at Wegman's in large quantities they no longer carry - Seal the Seasons New York Tart Cherries. The Mgr. says everyone is calling to complain, but I guess customers don't matter. I could get a GREAT selection of food & produce at HEB and Publix. This is the worst grocery store I've ever used. I won't be shopping here anymore.

A shell of it's former self

Danny, and even more so, his offspring Colleen and Nichole are running this place into the ground. Endless egregious price increases, smaller sizes, lesser quality, a general lack of anything on sale, a small selection of digital coupons for family sizes of their own brand.

Of course, one then gets to check yourself out, and assumed you are a thief first.

Hot Bar $16/lb., self-serve coffee (at the same price), the "gourmet" section in general is a joke! I used to grab something to eat before shopping - not anymore.

Yet the Weggie family just sings LA LA LA LA. This is no longer my go to store. Wake up in Rochester.

Yes, suppliers are to blame too. Even the employees don't look happy anymore.

I was so overwhelmed by Wegmans love and support they showed for Abrielle's Benefit. This outstanding company responded to my donation request in a timley fashion and generosity beyond our dreams!!!
The store managers ( Jessica, cashier Karen, and those in charge of donations) at Wegmans in Dewitt NY restored my faith in humanity!! We only shop at Wegmans and will not stop! BIGGEST Thank You
