Dont trust your confirmation

I booked a cottage on the website and paid my deposit. Since I didn't recieve an email confirmation I rang the company to check they had recieved my booking which they had, and they confirmed the details and sent me a booking confirmation. Three weeks later they rang me and said they had mistakenly agreed to a Friday to Friday booking but the property I had booked only offered Saturday to Saturday so did I want the new dates or to cancel. I explained to them that the week I had booked was part of a trip and I had no flexibility on dates so unfortunately I would have to ask them to abide by the contract I had with them. They said no they wouldn't honour our contract so a refund or rebooking were the only options. There was at no stage an apology for their error in accepting my booking and no offer of compensation for my inconvenience. After a long attempt to explain the obligations of contract law which they clearly didnt understand I told them to stick it and took a refund. I didnt have the energy to take legal action over this which I probably should have, but I won't use them again and as a director of a large national business I will make sure that members of my business are fully aware of thier ineptitude! - Disgraceful.

As a cottage owner I am appalled by…

As a cottage owner I am appalled by this company and cottages.com etc. For example, my next guest due in May paid in full for his holiday back in March. Holiday to be rearranged and payments to owner now not received until the holiday has taken place. They changed their policy regarding 'owner payments'. So they keep all of this money with no thought to the struggling owners or customers. Had an email video message from a Shelly D'arcy, Vice President of 'some' department - probably paid a fortune....advising owners that the social media coverage is 'false' and not from any genuine cottage owners or genuine guests..... Utter utter rubbish and an insult to our intelligence - ! With this bad reputation growing every day....... Hoseasons and cottages.com need to change their selfish ways and fast! Another guest contacted me to beg for a refund, as I had never received a penny from cottages.com, I couldn't help. People are desperate for their money, what part of 'no refunds' is fair???There reputation is near ruin and they will certainly see a mass exodus of cottage owners in due course no doubt, therefore everyone loses.

Welsh Country Avarice.

I booked a cottage this year with Welsh Country Cottages. A lovely place, it is £1700.00 for a week in July 2018. My circumstances have since changed and I have seen a lovely holiday elsewhere. So, I emailed them today, with 300 days' notice, thinking I would have to pay admin charges. I thought fifty to seventy-five pounds would be reasonable as no one will lose out and all they have done is send a couple of emails.
No, the standard deposit of £490.00 is payable if I chose to cancel. Silly me I should have read the small print. I thought this was a large company that you could trust and they would treat me as an individual customer.
So, let this be a warning to you, these guys only want your money and as soon as you click yes on the web site you're in it. Think very carefully before you send these greedy individuals any money.
