THE best day ever...
WOW! The best day out for many, many years. I took hubby here as a little birthday add on. We arrived into the prettiest little courtyard surrounded by plants and early spring flowers with comfy cushioned tables, chairs, benches and little water features everywhere to be welcomed by Mike, the Potter and owner and the lovely Shelagh who went and made us drinks with some cake. Mike showed us around the workshops and his beautiful gallery/shop of things he has made and then we set to learning all about his life and industry. We started by making RAKU pots, which we got to bring home and whilst they were 'cooking' Shelagh produced the most amazing hot lunch and we all sat together and ate with a drink. Then it was onto the messy stuff and we learnt how to work with the clay at the wheel and it's not as easy as it looks! We had hours of endless fun making things that nowhere resembled the fine work that Mike puts out. We were wearing most of it but I assure you we had the most fantastic day. It was worth every penny and we will go back, be that for another go or to pop into their licensed bar for a drink or a coffee or orchestrial musical evening. Go on, give it a go!!
