Wescot chasing a debt to someone who has never lived at my address

I can relate to many of the previous reviews about Wescot, I received five letters in 2023 to my address chasing a debt owed to Aqua Credit Card by a person who had never lived at my address and was completely unknown to me, after contacting Wescot I received an apology and that they would amend their records. Nothing happened for about a year, then I received an automated call from Wescot, that the same person owed money to Barclays Bank. I did not reply to the phone message, but blocked the number. A couple of days later, I received a letter from Wescot, chasing the debt owed to Barclays Bank, I immediately phoned them and complained about what had happened the previous year and again in 2024.
They promised to amend their records so that it wouldn't happen again, I requested they email me with proof of their actions - no email received, and they refused to re-send it. I put in a written compaint to Wescot, and they replied saying "they had acted appropriately" I then decided to send all the evidence that I had gathered to the Financial Ombudsman, and I have just received an email rejecting my complaint - surprise, surprise !!! I have given Wescot a 1* review, would have preferred a minus 5* but its not possible

I had a text message followed by an email from Wescot SCAMMERS

I had a text message from these scammers claiming to be acting on behalf of Paypal, and they said that they had been given control of my Paypal account and they needed me to contact them. They also went on to say that they would email mail me more details in the next few days.
Well that email has arrived and there are, surprise suprise, less details and they don't mention Paypal in their email at all. So got to be some sort of scam.
And by not mentioning Paypal, it doesn't look like the phishing email that it actually is.
So I have reported the text to Paypal security and I have forwarded the actual email to phishing..paypal.uk because it is a scam, even moreso , given that there is nothing wrong on my Paypal account when I logged directly in.
So big bunch of SCAMMERS based in a PO BOX in Huddersfield.

Evil company

Evil company. Had thirty six changes of staff, five charges against the firm by various banks over the years. Demanding and starting to threaten still for a debt that isn't owed, doesn't exist and that they haven't been asked to act for the company they say I owe. Search on Linked In for my post about them. They ought to be named and shamed. Their active Directors have been named on Linked In...

Morally defunct practices.

I fear that the persons in charge of Wescot Credit Services have lent themselves to be the culmination of every failure of ethical, business and administrative practice. I do not say this lightly.

I have dealt with this company before, and my previous experience around 2020/2021 was pleasant. I have, however, received countless letters regarding a PayPal debt; the same PayPal account which was settled in 2021. Wescot no longer hold details of previously settled debts on their database which leaves a gaping hole that the consumer (and the poor customer service advisors) must apparently fill. Telephone advisors were not able to locate the previously settled debt, or give me any information as to when the "new" debt was assigned to Wescot. I am now left with no other option but to report the entire company for fraud and malpractice by way of gross negligence, and to feel sorry for the poor employees who have to bear the brunt of the consequences for the failures of the higher-ups. Do better Wescot.

I have a debt with Marbles credit card…

I have a debt with Marbles credit card which i pay every month without fail.
I get a letter from Westcott saying I was in arrears,
Marbles confirmed they had received the payment on time, my bank confirmed that it had indeed been paid.
So I contacted Westcott and inform them, all sorts of excuses are wheeled out. They are beyond pathetic, probably the worst company I have ever dealt with, not fit for purpose, companies like this should be shut down!

SHOCKING COMPANY, they should be SUED!!

I paid off a debt with T-Mobile to Wescot IN FULL with bank statements as proof over 10 YEARS AGO!!!! It is 2024 and this incompetent bully of a company SOLD the debt to TWO debt companies: Lowell and Overdales solicitors AFTER paying them. I have NEVER had a debt in my life apart from this years ago and was issued a CCJ! I am SO MAD! All 3 companies are trying to bully and scare me to pay £400+ for something I DO NOT OWE. I can’t believe this is happening in 2024, all the reviews are proof. Today an incompetent lady called GEMMA emailed me to say they are unable to locate my account… IS THIS FOR REAL?!? I have sent my bank statement, if I receive the same ridiculous email AGAIN, I will pay money to sue this company for all the damages, harassment and incompetence.

Well i’m not even 18 yet and they have been calling me for 2 years constantly saying i owe debt, I block them and they seem to always get a new number? They’re harassing me and claiming me to be someone i’m not, naming me a man under another name. LEAVE ME ALONE!!

By far, the most respectful debt company out there

By far, the most understanding and respectful debt company I have dealt with. I had a bounced payment sent to Wescot, both representatives I spoke to were friendly and helpful. Many other debt companies need to take a leaf out of Wescots book. Thank you for your help and understanding.

dispicable company

Some time ago, this company acted for a client, threatening us with court action for 'non-payment' We made it abundantly clear that the payment had been sent and that we deserved an apology. We never ever heard anything. Yes, this is some while ago, but as I scanned old mail, I was reminded of their practices.
They may have improved since, but we never were acknowledged.

Fraudsters sent me debt collection…

Fraudsters sent me debt collection letter on behalf of an unknown PayPal account.
Then the guy at the Wescot customer service was digging into more personal details like my past addresses etc when I called them regarding this.
Reported this to PayPal instead.

Couldn’t change their mind let alone an address

Backwards.

Have harassed me with letters for someone not known at my address, when corrected they refused to change they’re system because the credit file agencies who were also corrected said this person had a link to my address, despite being given the persons address, phone number and email address, they continued to send letters requesting debts be repaid to my home, they refused my complaint citing they were a member of a financial body and very la de da, yet their claim was false because credit file agencies had been informed 2 years prior that the link between this person and the person living with me were no longer. I’m amazed they haven’t gone bust when they’re given the correct whereabouts of someone and still badger the wrong people, too busy writing letters to the wrong address. I hope they go bankrupt for the hassle they have caused me

Pleas ignore these morons

Who the hell are these people . I was going to say worse but I wasnt allowed. Keep sending letters about a PayPal debt which isn't mine and verified by PayPal. By the way they won't come to your house which one of their operators said to me, one of the times when I called them and got rather cross. They are a bunch of shallow, gutless morons..they don't have the guts to come to your house so everyone please ignore them.

Terrible company

I've always tried to maintain a professional attitude to companies like this who buy debt for peanuts then normally try to help customers pay something off it however last month my wife gave our income and outgoings to a call centre operative and came to a new agreement but last week we received an email asking very very personal questions about borrowing money off family members and whether we could make that a regular thing, asking about my health and details about my lifestyle.
It stinks of strong arm tactics and with the amount of people that are struggling during the current cost of living crisis I'm guessing the new owners want their investment back.
