A Cultural Crisis Within Law Enforcement: A Call for Accountability

It is deeply concerning that a pervasive culture of ignorance appears to have taken root within our police force, manifesting in an alarming disregard for crimes that demand intellectual engagement, investigative rigor, and a commitment to justice. Cases requiring critical thinking and detailed research are often left unresolved, exposing a systemic failure to fulfill the basic tenets of law enforcement. This dereliction of duty not only betrays public trust but also emboldens criminal behavior, creating an environment where wrongdoing is tacitly encouraged through inaction. The lack of diligence and effort underscores an unsettling indifference to the very responsibilities the police are sworn to uphold.

This pervasive incompetence is not just an affront to victims of crime but a damning indictment of leadership within the institution. It raises the question of whether those in charge possess the acumen or the will to enact meaningful reform. The public can no longer tolerate a service that prioritizes apathy over action, and we demand a thorough investigation into this widespread ineffectiveness. To restore confidence, senior officers must address this culture of mediocrity with urgency and implement robust measures to ensure accountability, professionalism, and a renewed dedication to public safety.

This stretches way back to \March 2023 and through 2024 - in particular since 29th June 2024 - and continues today.

Inaction followed by no explanation

Filed a hate crime under the Pubic Disorder Act 1986 only to be told there was no crime and requested Ofcom deal with it. They do not follow their own Police College guidelines or that of the CPS. Nor can they be bothered to explain their call centre decision.

This mess is funded by the tax-payer. How come things have got so bad? I have little faith in this force to deal with very much. I requested to understand the call centre staff review but have had no reply.

If there are points of law that actually supported their decision, it would have been helpful to have been explained why they have rejected this. Otherwise I suspect other reasons for the refusal to investigate or even register why they stated there was "no crime" when the CPS guidance clearly states that this is such under s66 Sentencing Act 2020 and s5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

It very disconcerting to know that those who are disabled have no support from the Police. Yet we are required to stump up more cash year on year for services that are failing.

In another related matter, I tried calling 101 but was kept on hold awaiting a response from the control room which never happened. I have little faith this Police Force will be able to respond to any emergency call other than wait 45 minutes to see if someone can respond. Very concerning and worrying. The Equality Act was supposed to help those who were recognised as being in a worse off situation. Yet the government and Police Force seem not to respond to any s149 duty and really don't care.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. I contacted them online in relation to an intimidation incident. They say they respond within 10 days, but usually sooner. 19 days later and I have heard nothing. Phoned them today and was told I’d be put through to the control room but there was a 10 minute wait. I waited 40 minutes!
I rang 101 again and was told that they’d put me through again but there was now a 40 minute wait. No offer of someone bothering to get in touch even after their failure to respond. I said I didn’t want to wait 40 minutes again and the man cut me off and simply put me through to complaints. Oh, surprise, surprise, nobody was able to take the call and you had to do it online.
It’s no wonder few have faith in the police.
I will be making the court aware of this failure to take this matter seriously. Especially as the person concerned has previously been warned by the police already, and that incident number was provided to the police this time when reporting the matter. .

I was advised to call 101 so i did and got through to an agent who quickly decided my anti-social behaviour complaint was not worthy of her time so put me straight on hold for 20 minutes. I got fed up so tried complaining online however my postcode was not recognised so I gave up on this as well. No wonder crime is on the increase as you can't report it even if you want to take the time to do so.....I won't bother again. Far too stressful

Domestic abuse ignorers

This lot are disgraceful. They fail victims of domestic abuse. They discriminate male victims and allow female perps to carry on unchallenged.
They fail all victims - my children particularly. This lot are a complete shower and a waste of time.

Useless Police

Observed a gang of travellers trying to sell dodgy cigarettes and perfume in high town Hereford 7th August and loads of cyclists and e scooter riders dodging dangerously close to pedestrians. The gang was approaching the public and stall holders somewhat aggressively.I said to a stallholder that I observed everything and he said this was the norm that they operate with impunity with no sign ever of a police presence.A few years ago a poor lady was killed by a thoughtless cyclist here.So typically nothing has been done remotely to make people stop this conduct. On return to the shirehall to catch a bus I observed loads of police cars just cruising by in roads near to where all these crimes were happening.Talk of useless is an understatement.

Having had no visible police patrolling…

Having had no visible police patrolling for some months made a complaint were adamant they had, so requested an F.O.I you won't believe the answer " we do not hold that information" strange that. The commissioner recently had a flyer printed along with all residents council tax bill clearly stating quote 2,506 new officers have joined West Mercia force again wrote to ask were they have been deployed( we only want a couple), unable to give an answer. That's exactly why everyone are giving you ONE star and your force has been rated inadequate they all can't be wrong.

Ignore child abuse, relentless on speeders, only after lazy easy stats....

For years I lived next to a child abuser in Evesham and was told by various officers we should stop reporting him and veiled threats.

it was only after one of the kids escaped and got help that this useless force decided they had no choice but to prosecute him (he went to jail for a long time).

I know some officers are good but it's a small minority. This force will chase you relentlessly for a minor speeding ticket, but anything bigger is way too much bother for them, they will only do the very bare minimum and will try everything in their power for an easy ride!

If anyone wants more information, happy to send links to news articles from the court, officers names etc...
