a sub par banking group to start with that has rolled back almost all customer services and basic banking services. would recommend the underside of your mattress over westpac.
for three months they have ignored my attempts to reach out to them and sorted me through AI. what went from a complaint has now ended with me changing banks and ensure everyone i know is aware of the pitiful service they provide.

Worst bank service I've ever had,
I have to wait for hours to get someone on the phone to ask if I can move my money to my international account, I've been wasting my time and energy for 1 week now.
What's more, as I'm not a native English speaker, the people on the phone don't help me by speaking very quickly when I ask them to speak slowly.
It's a shame to have to fight to use my hard-earned money.

By far the worst product I have ever used.
I told them in person when I picked up my travel money card, I told them over the phone when I activated it, I told them through the app when I set my pin; I was moving to canada.
They have blocked my transaction or withdraw or blocked my card atleast 5-10 times while ive been here. Every time I pay for international calling (because that is the only way to get support for travel money cards; through an AUSTRALIA ONLY NUMBER; not through the app) to get it unblocked they seem unable to stop it being blocked again.
Worst product I have ever used. And its not free. They hide the fee in the terrible exchange rate they offer. The Wise Travel Money card has a 0.5% exchange rate fee, why does this have a hidden 3.5% fee?
There is so much more I can say that has gone wrong with what was meant to be simply and good. But just avoid them like the plague.

I have been a customer of Westpac for 30 years conducting the same business. I recommend that no one should consider using their payway application. The team at payway have been nothing but unethical and unreasonable. Please take your business elsewhere there are better solutions available.
Terrible fraud protection system and call center wait times
I do a simple international bank transfer, via my web account, I use a security generated from my Westpac iPhone App.
At this point I have also entered a security code from my mobile phone. About two came through.
Transfer proceeds, five minutes later, I get an SMS “Your account has been locked due to suspicious fraud activity please call us”
I’ve now been on hold for 50 minutes, waiting to talk to someone…
This is very worrying sign that Westpac do not trust their own security system, how can two way authentication, a phone security code not give you confidence that this is a legitimate transaction?
I don't mind a phone call to verify but don’t lock me out of my account for over 50 minutes (and counting) and put me on hold. This sort of thing should be higher priority? It seems that protecting fraud isn’t urgent.
This didn’t give me confidence that you are protecting my bank account but rather the bank doesn’t trust their system so “putting it back in the user” and make them wait.
Maybe this was fine in 2004, but it’s 2024… Will move banks after this experience.

I have spent over six hours on hold, repeatedly transferred to incorrect departments, and have not been provided with a case number or reference to expedite the resolution. This lack of support has caused immense frustration, stress, and a significant impact on my mental health.
Furthermore, the prolonged lack of assistance has forced me to share my private number on a public platform in desperation to seek help. This is a severe breach of my privacy that could have been avoided with proper support from your team.

WESTPAC NO WAY!
I am a new customer to Westpac and I have to say I’ve received the worst treatment from customer service.
From a glitchy Westpac app, having to constantly call them to get home loans and credit cards set up.
Customer service only available during business hours for assistance on applications.
You think bringing across nearly a $1m of business they would be a bit more helpful.
I wish I stayed with my previous bank now 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I got a message from westpac asking to call back. But I called several times waited for over 3 hours over the phone…… Probably the bank is short staffed ???

DO NOT BANK WITH WESTPAC STAY AWAY!!! Their fraud team and customer service is HORRIBLE. It's a nightmare trying to pass the 'fraud' checks on your account. One second your accounts work fine and next they make you do multiple identity verification checks, and even when you pass those they still lock your accounts, make you call them multiple times to people in different departments and in the end they still ask you go into a branch as 'only people in the branch can unlock your account'. If you go overseas, good luck getting access to your accounts when (not if) they lock you out! It's like they think international calling is free and you can just fly back to visit a branch to do the same identity checks they make you do online. Absolutely ridiculous and the whole process of trying to bank with them is a nightmare. Stay away, stay away, stay away!!!

Am with Westpac, loyal previously, however customer service is not their ultimate priority here, staff quite rude, new staff being trained understandable but when their trainer is ‘not sure, best phone the Westpac call centre between these hours’ my experience with a simple query, being diverted to another point of call, frustrating! I too work full time, massive work load, my simple query and no apologies from a ‘non knowledgeable trainer’ was frustrating. Frustrating as the queue was long, no time to look into my query so just ‘next’. I will be taking my invested money elsewhere. Westpac with its latest record profits has the audacity to treat its customers like they are just a number, customers are loyal, or were, they contribute to Westpacs profits. I have not as of recent had any customer satisfaction with this bank. I work in a client centric role, I treat my clients with respect and address their concerns individually, Westpac have no interest in servicing customers with queries that are somewhat complex, unless of course it is financially beneficial to them. Westpacs call centres and real time bots are not HELPFUL at all. Call centre lines are horrendous, the staff are polite however, also obvious they cannot address complex queries, their replies are scripted, reading of online scripts to answer queries, queries not tailored to all. I will be taking my business and money deposits elsewhere, not all banks are the same.. sorry Westpac word of mouth is the best advertising and I know so many are not advertising you as their bank of choice either.
Westpac Fraud team are the real fraudsters
Recently on holiday in the UK and had 5 fraudulent transactions thru our account from the same merchant. We noticed 2 days after it happened so immediatly closed the card. On return to Australia we notified them online (they didn't want to know in local branch). They refunded the 2 smallest transactions totalling $45 and left us to fund the remaining $850 saying it was our fault but if they didn't believe us whey did they refund 2 of the tiniest amounts - they are cheats and fraudsters and whilst we don't have decades of loyal service we have been with this bank for 15 years and we will not be with them for 16. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR LOYAL HARD WORKING CUSTOMERS.
Westpac latest app
I have been with westpac more than 35 years & they are the best bank ever but in saying that the the latest app update is horrid I can't work it out now to check all transactions it only shows latest 5 this is not good enough for me & my budget being a pensioner, I got so stress not fun. Please go back to the previous app I'm confused with it & not happy. Thanks

DO NOT BANK WITH WESTPAC!! The Worst customer service, worst fraud team. Been on the phone for 2-3 hours a day for over a week waiting for someone to answer. And when I finally get through they cannot help unblock my account while I am overseas. They then ask me to visit a branch or contact them through my internet banking when I have no access, their system is flawed because if I could I would, I don’t think they understand what overseas means. I also had a relative I share the same address with to visit an Australian based westpac to assist on a facetime call and all they could do was give me another failed number, i believe they have now blocked my phone number which is associated with my bank account which is also ridiculous because now I have no means of contact, I would never recommend this bank to anyone do not open an account with westpac bank.

Worst customer service, worst fraud dept staff. Specially a guy called DANIEL. Was on the phone for 2:40 hours waiting for someone to answer. I would never recommend anyone to open an account with westshit bank. Closed all my accounts. Please move to other banks

I have been with Westpac for 25 years. Its services used to be pristine. Now it is a dysfunctional dead body and nothing gets done. My nephew was in the middle management and recently left and he said the management spent all their time infighting and trying to destroy each other's business.
One example: my business card had some frad transactions. I called and asked to suspend the card. They suspended my personal account and left my business card open for further frauds. The dispute team sends me emails asking for information. I replied. Two weeks later they sent identical emails. I replied with identical replies. Two weeks later they sent identical emails again. All my formal complaints went unresponded.When I call to sort things out they would say "I havedoneenoughforyou" and hung up straight away.
Will close all my accounts when I come back from holiday. It is a stinking decomposing dead body.
