I bought my boat from wonderful people

I bought my boat from Whilton Marina and could not be more amazed at the quality of service and attention to my needs as a complete novice. Advice, help - nothing was too much trouble. The cafe and chandlery people are wonderful, all staff across the site are wonderful. Seriously don't go anywhere else.

Great Experience

We recently purchased our first boat with Whilton Marina, and it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Excellent communication throughout. Very friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with our many questions & queries. The engineers were always so helpful and quick to respond, and our handover was very informative and detailed. Would highly recommend Whilton Marina.

Selling our narrowboat

Our initial telephone enquiry about selling our Narrowboat was met with a professional and informative approach .Rob returned our telephone call to explain to us about the various options available . We agreed a date and time for Rob to travel to our marina , some 100 miles away and view our pride and joy. On the day of meeting Rob confirmed a time and called us and when he was 15 minutes away. Rob offered a wealth of knowledge and offered us a fair price of which was paid into our bank account the very next working day. The boat was collected from our marina of which saved us organising another nine days of travel. A very sad day to say goodbye to our holiday waterhome but with the ease of selling to Whilton Marina a smile was put back on my face.
Highly Recommended !!

Well located marina with good facilities and friendly, helpful service on all counts

I have been absolutely delighted with the friendly and knowledgeable assistance I received whilst looking for, and purchasing my first narrowboat. Everyone at Whilton made me feel at home and helped me at every turn. Special thanks to Dave in sales for helping getting set up on the boat, and manoeuvreing her out of and back into a fairly tight space! When I came to do it myself I managed it with reasonable confidence and only a couple of light scrapes! I would definitely come back to Whilton if I am ever in the market again, and may also find myself asking for a berth again at some point as Whilton is well located with friendly people and good facilities.

Quick and efficient to fix our engine issue

Popped into Whilton Marina today after losing nearly all engine drive whilst coming down Buckby Locks. The team there came almost immediately to look at our boat (despite it being time for their lunch break!) and after diagnosing the issue they quickly fit us with a new throttle cable for a very reasonable price. We were on our merry way again after a little over an hour! Excellent service.

A five-star service

A five-star service!
I admit to having little or no knowledge when it comes to engines. However, over the past 3 years of owning my narrowboat I have found that I don’t have to try and get the oil down the same hole that the dipstick came out of (very difficult but not impossible!), but that there is a larger hole with a screw top on the top of the engine (Things are looking up!).
Recently I was informed by a good friend who told me I had quite a bit of water in the engine compartment and that it looked as if I might need a new stern gland (Ohh really! Sounds good I thought!) … Can I get one at Tesco?
It was clear that I would have to have a chat with the guys at WhiltonMarina where I was conveniently hibernating for the winter (I’m a fair-weather cruiser!).
So, this is my review regarding the pre-planning and the work carried out by the guys at Whilton.
The following however is partly copied from my work-sheet, after all, you didn’t think I knew all these big technical “enginy” words, did you?
• Cutaway and replace cutlass stern gear with traditional type stern gear
• Cut out and replace boss.
• Fit new stainless-steel shaft and new propellor.
Apparently, my propellor was rather the worse for wear, possibly when I went aground (not my fault!) so I now have a lovely new propellor which may help with my boat going in the direction I want it to go in, instead of the direction it wanted to go in!
All finished and I’m now back on the boat (after staying in the wrong hotel for one night!). It really is a great feeling when you can leave something in the capable hands of professionals knowing that they will deliver the goods in the time quoted and for the agreed price.
So pleased I’m even going to give the engine bay a lick of paint.
Definitely worth a mention and a five-star review.

Helpful customer service

We put our boat up for sale with them during the most difficult time, and they managed to sell it after about 4 weeks for an acceptable price.
At the time you could only purchase a boat if it was for your main residence so this limited their market, had we prepared to wait we could have potentially made more but it was our decision to sell at the time to enable us to free up some capital.

Buying my first narrowboat.

I have been visiting wilton marina for 2 to 3 years as I have wanted to live on a narrowboat for many years.I decided I would use wilton marina to purchase my first narrowboat as I liked there relaxed attitude to viewing and they have a good selection of used boats.
The day had finally come when i could put a deposit down on a narrowboat.I walked over to the sales office and gave the name of the narrowboat I wanted to put a deposit down on.I was asked if i had the available fund's I explained I was a two weeks away from receiving payment from my house sale.I explained a doctor was purchasing my property for his daughter so little chance of any issues.I had also confirmed I would be completing on the sale in around 2 weeks time confirmed by my solicitor. The normal process at wilton is you give £1000 deposit then 3 to 4 week's later your able to take the boat away,That is not what happened in my case.I was told I needed to pay £5000 and if i did not have the rest 4 week's later I would loose the deposit. My dreams of owning a narrowboat from this marina were shattered?I have a very different view on wiltern marina now and would not use there services now or in the future. What happened that day turned what I thought was a great marina with very friendly and Helpfull staff into a living nightmare.I will now spend my hard earnt cash at a marina where im hopefully appreciated as a customer not somewhere that does not have the slightest piece of respect for you.
