Very friendly and quick appointments. Only issue is the cost of medications which are very expensive. This applies to a lot of vets but I do find the prices here are way too high

Poor, costly service

We have been with Whitecross vets in Kings Heath for several years and have experienced a reduction in the quality and levels of service at the same time as prices have continually increased. We have had no issues with the vets or veterinary nurses care quality hence this isn't a one star review but the administration of the service and administration staff leave a lot to be desired and their costumer service is terrible. We have now found ourselves another vet practise.

MY CAT HAD ABCESS UNDER CHIN…

My cat went for consultation with the vet Francesco and luckily noticed an abcess just under his chin. He talked me through the process and he was booked in for surgery to have the abcess drained. He has several health conditions including hyperthyroidism and tumour in mouth so is on lots of medication. So I was quite anxious he would be okay. On the day both the vet Francesco and the vet nurse Chris were kind and caring knowing he was a nervous cat with multiple health issues and handled him with dignity and respect and kept him calm throughout. He had sedation during the procedure to drain the abcess and was given an anti biotic. I picked him up later that day and I could see just by looking at him that they had kept his stress levels to a minimum which immediately helped lower my stress levels too!! Thank you for looking after my beautiful boy.

White Cross Pet Plan

I have been on the pet plan for two of my cats for over two years. Apart from general care, tablets occasionally and flea and worming I have not had anything dramatic. The cost has now gone to nearly £60 per month for my two young cats.
I am suffering with two life debilitating conditions that have left unable to work. I had an appointment for one of my cats and even though I had paid the subscription for both my cats thay would not forfill the appointment, therefore I had to cancel.
I find this not only distressing but quite frankly unecehical.
I have some basic tablets to pick up for them but feel so upset I don't want to go there.
Beware before taking out the pet plan, they calculate what you have had and then if you cancel refuse treatment.

Compassionate and competent vets for cats

All the staff at Whitecross Stanningley vets practice are polite, compassionate and competent. I was given a tour of their new practice and it was really impressive! I have an elderly cat with multiple chronic conditions and the practice always tries to get me an appointment with the same vet for continuity of care. Francisco, my vet, is patient, approachable and always goes the extra mile for his patients and the pet parents. I feel lucky to have found such a great practice that I can trust with my fur baby's care.

Fantastic service!

Since their opening in November, I have had 3 occasions to visit White Cross Vets In Stanningley and each time have been very impressed by their professionalism and standards of care. Everyone I came into contact with was kind and supportive and did everything possible to try to help our visit less stressful. In November, on their opening day, Oscar my dog was rushed in and was found to need emergency surgery for Bloat, (GDV). Special mention goes to vets Rebecca and Francisco who acted calmly and swiftly, assisted by one of their nurses (sorry I can't remember her name but she was there on the opening day) I was kept updated about how the procedure was going throughout. The clinic itself is lovely and new with state of the art equipment and I would definitely recommend them.

I Would like to leave some feedback on the experiences I've had dealing with White Cross Vets Birmingham Heath. The best decision I ever made was choosing this practice to care for my pets.

The care they have received has been outstanding & Nuse Viki is the best. Everytime I come into the practice, I'm always greeted with a smiling face.

Thankfully, (in the nicest possible way) I haven't had much dealings with the whole team at Kings Heath, but each interaction has been a pleasant one regardless of which team member I'm speaking to.

I've never found a need to complain about the care they have received & they are always at the end of the phone for a friendly chat about any concerns you may have & to give some friendly advice.

Again, thank you so much for all the care you have provided to my pets. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas & all the best for 2026!!

White cross vets at Bloxwich - A great team

What a Rip-off!

Once again they have increased their Pet Plan subscription, which represents a rise of 26% over the last two years. They claim that the latest increase is small and they are giving extra benefits, but they are not services that we are likely to make use of. We will look elsewhere for an alternative vet.

Reckless Negligent Overdosing Murderers

Please do not use this vets. I cannot bare the thought of another beloved pet suffering and dying, or a family going through the trauma of desperately trying to save their pet only to watch them suffer and die.
I have raised a formal complaint with White Cross Vets, They do not admit to overdosing my beautiful dog, after her being administered with 5 vials of Apomorphine in one injection. There was no monitoring or aftercare and White Cross Vets have refused to admit any liability or accountability regarding my dogs suffering and death being due to their negligence.
This is now under investigation with The Royal College Of Veterinary Surgeons (rcvs).

I don’t think I will ever get over the trauma of losing my beloved dog in such needless circumstances. I regret the day I ever took my girl in there.

1 star because zero is not an…

1 star because zero is not an option..Took our dog to you for the almost 9 years of his life.... he almost lost his hearing because it took almost 3 years for you to recognise a simple fungal infection. You tried to scare us into paying £5k for CT scan trying to convince us he had meningitis when we knew he'd just hurt his back jumping. And when we brought him to you throwing up water all the time you told us he was just too fat and told us to put him on a diet for a month.. after a month of no diet he was underweight and you still failed to consider something serious was happening. Once there was no more money to be made from drugs he didn't need or didn't help you wiped your hands of him (because you overcharge for CT scans and know it was out of our financial reach) and sent us to the Animal Trust...something you could have done almost 2 months earlier - he could barely breathe for the last 2 weeks of his life and the Animal Trust couldn't even give him the CT scan he needed when we first brought him to you, because he wouldn't have survived. We know he probably couldnt be saved from the lung cancer he had but he suffered far longer than was necessary while you fleeced every last penny trying to convince us he was just overweight and it was our fault. He was never a fat dog. You will never see another pet of ours. You care for profits not animals.... we've never seen the same vets stick around for more than a few months... trainees gaining experience while you charge ridiculous fees for qualified vets? I suspect so. I hope the shareholders rot in hell

What was perceived as a straightforward…

What was perceived as a straightforward process, became an extremely nerve-wracking ordeal for both me and my Pet Chihuahua Oscar! The White Cross vets' staff provided inaccurate and unprofessional advice. I would caution against entrusting your pets to their care. I am currently in the process of lodging a formal complaint and will pursue this matter to the fullest extent. My aim is not to seek a refund, but to prevent others from undergoing a similar distressing experience with their pets. The staff displayed a complete lack of empathy and, to be blunt, their manner of communication, which felt like they were ganging up on me, was utterly disgraceful! The woman in charge in the absence of management for another week used inappropriate language such as "knocking them out" instead of using more professional terms like "administering local anesthesia". During a procedure where my Chihuahua was under local anesthesia for two hours for a scale, polish, and extractions, exceeding the expected 90-minute timeline, the necessary extractions were not completed. Despite the urgency stressed by the vet over the phone regarding the critical need to remove these teeth, I was informed that I would have to bring Oscar in for another session. The vet intended to charge me another full amount. When I picked Oscar up, but the nurse advised me if this was her pet, she would not put him under local anaesthetic again as his heart rate and blood pressure dropped dramatically. The Vet himself did not advise me this and I am so glad that Young lady Truthful.

Absolutely awful staff at this vets

Absolutely awful staff at this vets, very unprofessional and show no empathy when towards their customers. Charging for a consultation then providing a quote and then on the day of the procedure charging twice as much. Please think twice before visiting this vets. Also forgot to add they did not apply the 20% discount until this was queried and took over 8 minutes being put on hold to confirm this would be applied.

Disgusting

Disgusting!
I am sick to death of this place and I’ve moved afer 5 years of being a loyal customer as my dog came from Ravens rescue and I felt like I should stay here as they know my pet. I travel miles to come here and I won’t be giving them another penny of my money. Issue is - I had a valid prescription that was in date and signed for aquoquel and the company I was supposed to have them from called vets as prescription was expiring within 30 days and Wolverhampton said not to dispense the medicine despite my prescription being in date and I was told another consultation would be required and fee for written prescription. Why? Paid 50 quid plus over priced piece of paper that is worthless and now got to pay again? I asked for a call back from manager and guess what no call back 😂😂😂 I don’t mind paying but I’m no idiot and refuse for be ripped off.
I’m beyond mad as I’ve had to go to another vets and it’s cost me 200 quid to pay for a consultation and tablets!
You are a joke and deserve to close as you have no compassion and are just money grabbing !!

I rang on 7.4.25 to request a repeat…

I rang on 7.4.25 to request a repeat prescription for my dogs skin condition. He is on Apotease.
I was told that by law he had to see the vet first as it had been over 6 months since was last seen.
I was given an appointment , saw the vet and we discussed me having her make up a prescription that would last 6 months so I could order as and when he needed them.
I declined this and paid for a months supply.
That months supply has lasted my dog 4 months because he only has flare ups from time to time.
Today I have called to request a repeat prescription and have been told he needs to see the vet for another consultation !
I questioned this but was told that I had to see a vet to get the prescription.
My question is why can I have a prescription that will last 6 months without having to see the vet in that time but also now being told that because 4 months has passed that I have to pay for a consultation .
This is so unfair and I’m clearly being either given the wrong information by reception or ripped off. Disgraceful
