Ordered a book online which I needed to return. The website says to return to a shop however 2 different stores refused to take it, customer service were useless and couldn't explain where I could take it and then charged me to post it back. Still not refunded even when posted.

To be honest WH Smith in Congleton, now housing the town's post office, offers a superb blend of convenience and excellent customer service. There is a specific guy called Leo at the WHSmith in Pinner.

He went out as a way to be helpful provided me with the service when the other colleagues were not interested.

So I really do believe that he is an asset to the company and a great employee.

I recently had to send a parcel by DHL to our son and his family who live in Hong Kong. We went to the Southwold branch of WHSmith which we have used in the past but to our surprise, it was now permanently closed. Therefore, I had to drive to the Woodbridge branch where Mollie Thomas was brilliant and managed to navigate DHL’s arcane process on our behalf, and get the parcel sent. Well done Mollie!

Went to whsmith in chesterfield and brought a red letter day 2day break then when we tried to book we were told the number on our purchase. had not been registered at shop I went back to shop to be met with attitude. saying the trouble you had last time I am surprised you brought another I told them it's was with a different company she went to manager. who smirking told me I needed to contact the company as it was valid. I told them I had done a 24 mile round trip to sort this and I did not need to do any thing I purchased from them and my contract was with them the manager at whsmith chesterfield told me computers were down. and I needed to come back next week iasked if they were going to pay for my round trip they said no with a smirk. I said look I want my money back. they said I need to come back next week they smirked and said I was raising my voice between 3 people they were smirking and told me to leave shopm and then got security involved. I waited for security and told him if they can take Money they can pay me back. I should not be traveling 24 mile at a cost to me they were laughing as I stood out side shop. when security came out he gave me a phone number of shop to ring i said i did not want to deal with them but area manager they would not give me his email address. so i went online and was offered a credit note i said what can i spend £120 on. i want money back to which they gave me online appaling service by whsmith chesterfield i will never shop here again

At least prices are coming down.not as good as once was, like most things. Also we noticed Invitations and Thank You’s cards in the Glenrothes store. No apostrophe is required, but I suppose that’s the norm now aswell. Bad English!

I gave a this high because the staff are amazing and the experience in there is so much better cause there three members of staff who are outstanding and they are jay, Christie and izzie definitely izzie because she sorted my Lancaster boomer book out so i can get it each week. So I owe a thank you to her. Also the store looks a lot better now to what it did more space to move around which is good.

Falsely advertising a sale of a set of Caran d'ache 14 gouache pans reduced from £44 to £22. Yet when I checked the small print it said 8 pans and £22 is the normal price not a sale price. People who didn't check the small print would have been sorely disappointed.

Super high prices at airport. Total rip off.
A high street giant that has turned into something unpalletable for me. I avoid them as much as I can now.

Ordered a magazine on line with them to deliver that was March 29 th.

Still not arrived? Contacted them to complain, now asked to refund. Heard nothing, absolutely a disgrace to run such an iconic British company into the ground.

I have been disappointed with their prices and choice of items on a regular basis, and thus my experience with WH Smith is not satisfactory.

Whatever you do, don't break down in Moto services in Medway... WHSmith staff are supposed to help,as they can put you on an exemption list, they simply don't care,they insist you pay car parking despite the fact you've broken down,they refuse to give their details and hide their badges when you complain to WHSmith Customer services...they send you round the houses and then radio silence..they just hope you go away and forget about it

I can only assume the WH Smith Clifton Down Bristol branch is not interested in serving customers. No one at the till, just a notice telling us to find a member of staff. No staff to be found. They might as well rename this branch as the Marie Celeste. Won't be returning.

I bought a charging lead and plug as I needed it in hospital.
The cost £27.98 !! I have the receipt.
The same thing cost about £7 on eBay new.
Why does this company feel it can be
so greedy by ripping people off when they are in hospital?

I today purchased an electronic calculator from WH Smith when I opened it found out a screw was missing and it felt very flimsy I will try and return this tomorrow before I take this further since when have WHSmith started selling broken goods

Selling scam gift cards.
Why are WHSmiths selling these everywish scam gift cards. My daughters got one each for £35 pounds, but when you go to the site to get the voucher code, you can not get a Amazon voucher code for £35, you have to pay more money, another £15 pounds on top, and have to get a £50 pounds voucher code.
Why should you have to actually spend more money on these gift cards.

I purchased a sim card from wh smith at madrid airport terminal 4. I was charged 30 euros but in reality the sim card is free and the topup was done for only 10 euros.

I visited the WHSmith store at London City Airport on 31/10/2023 after arrival in London. I went in there to buy a simcard, and to my surprise I later found out that the store overcharged me. Empty simcards with just a number are free in the UK. However the store charged me £10 for the EE simcard and £15 for the EE topup bundles. The receipt has the following detail om them:

This is a scam I am pretty sure they do to all foreigners. Please, be aware when you are buying anything from this store. The dishonesty is really appalling.

All simcards are simple plug and play. Truly dishonest employees that don't deserve to work in these type of places.

I think they’re better than people think

i see people complaining about staff not wanting to help. as a staff member who among most of the staff working for this company, we are treated with the utmost disdain by whsmith. no thanks, no praise, low wages, high responsibility, no future prospects, no recognition..........2023 this company is contributing a mere £10 per head to an xmas dinner which, while more than any other year is still an insulting amount and they had just as well not bother

the point is, if you too worked for such a bad company that treats it staff with utter contempt, you too would likely be not the most enthusiastic employee
