Kitchen Design

We were fortunate to have our kitchen designed by Yousef. He has considerable expertise in kitchen design and appliances. I felt he got to know us to understand what is was we need in our kitchen design. He is enthusiastic and made really good suggestions. His communication is excellent, we have had several appointments with him, he always made himself available to either call into store to speak to him or he would reply to emails straight away.

Long, aggravating and still not over

Ok so short version. If you are hellbent on getting a bathroom then for all I know, Wickes are as good or bad as anyone else, but it will be in all likelihood an aggravating experience. If you are weighing up whether to get a new bathroom or not and using Wickes, then don't, the parsnip isn't worth the pull.

Long version, firstly, this review is squarely about Wickes, not the fitters we eventually were allocated who were a good, hardworking bunch who did a good job. They are nothing to do with Wickes.

Timescale, we went into store on 22 Aug 2025, its 21 Nov 2025 and things still not completely sorted, so allow over 3 months for 1 bathroom.

On that note, remember however pleasant the person is you are dealing with, they are a sales person so lets say 'fluid' in their approach to the accuracy of answers to questions e.g Q1 Is that the max price, A Yes (real answer 'don't know it might well be more once tge fitter looks at it). Q2 how long will the install take? A 8 days (real answer 16 days). Q3 will the fitter be dedicated to the job. A Yes (real answer lol, you'll be one of many many competing priorities they have), etc.

So, expect to have to chase wickes constantly to get anything done. (Take it as read anything I mention here involved having to contact them multiple times to get anywhere, we'd paid up front so they had our money). Eventually got a fitter, less said about them the better, suffice to say they cancelled a 20 minute home survey last minute a couple of times. Everyone can have a bad day etc but lets just say we were surprised at the tone of the communication and leave it there. So they can't do a survey, radio silence from wickes,multiple chasing for a new fitter and at the point we were about to get a refund, hey presto, they pull a fitter out of the fitter hat. Those guys were good but took ages to get them.

So eventually a new bathroom. No sign of the skip bag of rubble etc being collected. Chased wickes again and guess what 'no record of a collection, we'll do it manually if we can, you should hear monday'. Yeah ok, another one for the Wickes 'interesting if true' file. I'll no doubt be chasing or having to somehow dispose of how many tonnes of rubble myself.

One final thing for more wickes flavour. They sent some guy out early on (I won't name but we have the name) and could hear him saying to the fitters things like 'get this put in and that put in' and the fitters remonstrating 'won't that be more expensive for the customer' and him saying 'just get them to sign this'. The fitters didn't try any of this nonsense on for wickes but who knows, some might.

So why not 1 star? Well we do have a new bathroom and toilet 3 months on and the purchased tiles, shower etc are good, but really that is the fitters - they would score highly. That said, lordy its been unnecessarily stressful and expensive. And in addition to the bathroom we still have a load of rubbly junk. If we ever did our downstairs would just go straight to the fitters and cut wickes out.

Quick update, weekend passed with no contact from Wickes, despite assurances. My wife chased them, they say they have no record of collection sign off and are blaming the fitters, instal manager, who knows who but bottom line is big skip bag full of rubble and rapidly sodden mushy mass of cardboard they won't/ can't collect. Its laughable. Or at least it would be if I wasn't left with a huge dump outside the house.

Further update, Wickes finally agreed to remove the waste and passed this to a company called Hippo. They were meant to come yesterday, didn't. They have told us they couldn't come as their driver was over the alloted driving hours and now we've missed our slot, have no idea when/ if they will come. Wickes now pass the buck to Hippo, meanwhile our front lawn is being further damaged by Wickes unwillingness to fulfill their contract. We/ you if you go with Wickes will be left with the cost of removing huge heavy waste. Be warned. Nothing goes smoothly.

Mark Hewitt at Aintree designed us the…

Mark Hewitt at Aintree designed us the most beautiful kitchen. He was so helpful with everything from choosing the colours to picking out tiles to match the floor. Nothing was too much for him, helping with hiccups with building issues and making sure that everything was available when we needed it.

Yousef was superb

Yousef, start to finish. Unlike other companies he come out at ordinal measure and spent a lot of time, talking through ideas, what I needed, what would work or not. By the time I got to design, he already had 2 made on arrival. No up selling no needless items, just honest advice and help.
Only issue was with delivery, wrong colour item arrived, dispatch team issue. Now all sorted.

Needed help with product

I asked one of the staff if the sold the product I needed. He found it, advised me on it, took it to the checkout & then carried it to my car and placed it in the boot.
His name was Phil and I was so glad of his help 👍Makes a refreshing change to be praising staff instead of raising complaints

Great meeting

Stephen was great, he listened to my ideas & gave me some tips about what would suit my small kitchen. He let me know straight away cost issues & what the best range would be for my circumstances. In all a great meeting & Im looking forward to my follow up next week to see his design.

Me and wife were served by a young lad by the name of Elliot (wickes aintree)not only did he put 17 packs of laminate flooring on the trolley he continued to unload into our vehicle whilst very polite and very well manerred great customer service thank you👍

Wrong toilet delivered twice, mold underneath sealant

More than 26 emails sent starting with E.Knowles Jan 2025 then Megan Hall June 2025 sending images and videos who just closed complaint. I'm just getting in touch with yourselves, once again, before reaching out to Novuna finance in order to action a section 75 on my bathroom unresolved complaint.
I sure hope you are able to assist. Originally a lady called Elizabeth Knowles was assisting but everything went quite and now we haven't heard back and the case is closed.
I have had a few issues with my bathroom installation which includes the following:
- The seal on my shower screen has come away and mould is building up
- During the original installation, the installer dropped the shower tray on the ceiling (from above) and there's a crack in it downstairs. Despite his best efforts, it stands out like a sore thumb and needs to be addressed
- There's not enough fall on the waste for the shower tray. The waste always has water sitting in it and it back fills rather quickly. We need someone to look at this for us
- There is a crack in the sink which has been reported and not resolved
This was all raised on the 15th of January with Elizabeth Knowles and further videos and images were sent through. I would rather not produce a claim with Novuna finance with a Section 75 and would really appreciate the help that you could provide. We would just like to get these things rectified in a timely manner.

Installer said he would come back to fix crack but never did.
Completion date was after 18th Feb 2024

After reviewing our system, I can confirm that no formal complaint or warranty ticket was raised following your installation, which was signed off as completed and satisfactory in January 2024. Unfortunately, the original installer no longer works with us, which limits our ability to evaluate or follow up directly on work carried out at the time. Any issues that arose immediately after installation would have needed to be addressed through direct liaison with the installer.
Regarding the specific points you've raised:
Mould on the shower screen seal: Mould build-up typically results from moisture and lack of ventilation, and is considered a usage-related issue rather than a product or installation fault. Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential to prevent this, and it is not covered under warranty.
Crack in the downstairs ceiling: As we were not notified earlier, and with the installer no longer available, we unfortunately cannot verify or assess the origin or responsibility for this damage. Any remedial work would need to be considered separately.
Shower not draining / leakage: Could you please confirm the severity of the leak? Have you taken any interim steps to reduce or stop the leakage?
To help us investigate further, please send:
A video showing the water leakage and poor drainage
Details of when you first noticed the issue
Any specific incident that may have caused or contributed to the problem
Crack in the sink: As with the other issues, no prior record of this was raised within the expected reporting timeframe, but I will check with the supplier regarding this.
Please note the installation was completed over a year ago (delivery on 29/02/2023(wrong date), installation starting 08/01/2024), and any delays in raising issues make investigation and resolution more complex. That said, I’ll do my best to assist where reasonable.

Once I receive the requested videos and further details, I’ll assess the case and let you know the next steps.

A 2 year guarantee of workmanship that is not worth the paper it's written on. Mould is underneath the sealant and is not cleanable. Sealant will have to be stripped off and replaced which would invalidate the 2 year workmanship guarantee, Pushed to sign off finance when there are oustanding minor issues don't do it.

New Kitchen

From start to finish Wickes did an amazing job. Mark Hewitt in the Aintree shop was excellent in helping me to decide on a kitchen and led me to the right decisions. He was very patient and not pushy at all. I would highly recommend Mark if you are thinking of getting a new kitchen.

I spoke to the staff on the phone I can’t remember the name of the lady I spoke to but she couldn’t have been more helpful solving my issue sending back a product we ordered by mistake. (We bought the correct one today) where we were helped tremendously by the staff. Elliot helped me to my car with the keter storage box. Excellent store. Well done to all the staff.

A Glowing Report

We arranged for a kitchen designer to have a look at our bombsite of a house, we had no kitchen, just a sink, Steve (Ambler) arrived on time and measured up and give lots of advice. Fabulous bloke, loads of patience and loads of help and advice. A week later we went into the Aintree branch and had a meeting with Steve showing us what our kitchen would look like, went through all the details, no hard sell at all and from start to finish Steve helped us. The kitchen arrived on time and in perfect condition and would highly recommend Wickes and especially Steve Ambler, no waffle, no faff, just extremely efficient and helpful. Thanks to Mark Hewitt for his fantastic customer service when designing and ordering my new kitchen! It is everything I wanted… and more! He was a breath of fresh air, upbeat and extremely helpful from start to finish.
The kitchen was delivered when he said it would be and fitted to a high standard by Michael Pritchard. Again, Michael was fantastic with an eye for detail. He went above and beyond to make sure it was exactly what I wanted.

Steve Ambler

Steve Ambler from aintree store helped us in the past with our kitchen design which 10 years later is still going strong.
This time round I wanted the bathroom designed but with kitchen cabinets (they’re much bigger and cheaper). Steve made sure they were suitable for a bathroom and then had the patience of a saint while I changed my mind a few times on the design 😂. I would highly recommend him.

I was sold the dream kitchen

I was sold the dream kitchen, but unfortunately, I ended up with an extractor fan that was not fitted to standard. I can't use it, and despite several emails and phone calls, no one is taking responsibility or offering help. I was advised to contact AEG, and the technician who came agreed that the installation was unacceptable.

My kitchen looks nice, but it's disappointing that the customer service team dismisses my concerns while there are still unresolved issues.
