Tried to fob me off
I studied here 2013-2017. My experience was very underwhelming. Absolutely no support was given and I ended up having to resit a year due to a combination of mental health issues and total lack of support with my studies. Because of my struggles, I ended up only getting 320 credits. I looked up their table of awards and discovered that 300-340 credits awards you with an ordinary/unclassified degree - yet they tried to fob me off with a certificate of higher education. I spent a full year fighting for what I had earned, and only when I threatened legal action did I suddenly receive my degree in the post about a week later. They have removed themselves from the university rankings for a reason - because they were consistently last place for multiple years in a row. I only went to this university because I live in the Black Country and it allowed me to stay home near my partner at the time. I was accepted to York and I wish I'd gone. Absolutely AVOID this university.
Not Good Organisation
as a student of the university of…
as a student of the university of wolverhampton i can say that the support here is next to Nil. The university and their tutors to not respond to emails (apart from two i could name) , do not communicate and certainly do not help their students. the call help desk are clueless with most enquiries and do nothing to help and the technology and university portal is a disgrace in that it gets hacked to the point students lose their modules days before their exams and nothing is done about it. there is no sense of urgency for a students career.
i have been a student studying an LLB course and i got a lot of support at the beginning.
I then graduated and began a legal practice course which is self funded. Since i have joined this course which we fund, this is where i have noticed the decline in support and attitude and it is clearly monetary motivated. i have registered for exams to be told less than 24 hours that i am not sitting the exam and given no explanation. I have emailed multiple people, called help desks and have received no response via email and no information or help from the ask help desk. All i want to do as a student is graduate and get a job and it’s almost like the university don’t want me to, they just want to stop my exams and keep me for as long as possible, suffering and stressing and entering more financial difficultly. I would say it was good, but since Covid i would say avoid the univerity of wolverhampton at all costs. Don’t waste your time and money as they certainly won’t waste theirs on you.
I recently applied to do my foundation…
I recently applied to do my foundation pgce at university of Wolverhampton however under the conditions that I do my maths gcse. I was advised by my teachers advisor to ring admissions to see if I can get discount on any gcse tests. (at this point I was ready to book my maths gcse but there was no harm in asking to see if I can get it cheaper.) anyways so I rang admissions they then said no they don't have any discount however the informed me that I can just do their own equivalency test instead. so after going back and forth with them for like a month I decided to do that instead. 2 weeks ago I was emailing my tutor and told her that ive got everything ready and I'm just waiting to do my equivalency test. she then responded back saying that they don't accept this test. after this I rang admissions they said they'll sort this out and today they've told me that they can't accept the equivalency test, even though they said they can. what's worse about this I rang admissions again to complain about this and the lady over the phone said that they do accept it. so admission clearly don't communicate with the course tutors and the University admissions clearly not run well. this is ridiculous and I'm frustrated by this and I would not recommend anyone to apply and if you do, do not bother with the admissions team as they clearly don't know what they are talking about. all I'm gonna get for this is a apology which isn't really going to help me. yes I know i can apply again next year but I will not apply to Wolverhampton University.
I do not recommend the Online courses…
I do not recommend the Online courses are the worse experience I have ever had. Lack of professionalism, communication and support.
New students and current be aware!! Scrapping Campus buses at the…
Scrapping Campus buses at the University of Wolverhampton, miss sold dreams and unhappy customer!
I was suppose to be at the University of Wolverhampton today, but I rely on the campus bus and can't afford to get other means of transport. The campus bus does not come until 10:40 and to get a train and then an Arriva bus and then also pay my national express bus is out of the question 🫣
I am so frustrated at the University of Wolverhampton. Honestly, I don't know how I am going to afford to continue on my final year, not only that the additional time it is going to take to get to University of Wolverhampton: Telford campus.I previously went on placement to Telford and the commute was about 3 hours there and 3 hours back, just by catching a national express bus and a banga bus, plus two left ts of charges!! Well this is going to be worse as now it going to be 3 means of transport, so additional time and even more money, when will I have time to do my assignments, or work just to survive?
The more mocking aspect of it is that they have suggested the train, but that is £170 per month or banga bus which is £64.00 per month (runs hourly), plus my national express bus pass which is £46 per month and £68.40 per month for the arriva bus. Yet to get to Walsall campus there is frequent buses and my national express bus pass would cover it. The university decided to build a university in an area that is not covered by the national express buses.
This decision is not inclusive to people who are living in poverty, I have just managed to cover my rent, etc,. And now this. The research in the most hit population for the cost of living crisis is students, but none of this was factored into their decision.
I may have to take a leave of absence, but this is something I do not wish to do. But until I pass my driving test I don't know how I will survive, they are disadvantaging the students and it certainly does not feel like the university of Opportunity. I gave my previous job up for this, I sacrificed, worked hard and I feel it has just been thrown in my face and other students faces, despite our sacrifices. Even addressing the money aspect does not resolve the situation, as time is a factor and the fact I have had to get a job on the weekends just to continue speaks volumes about my financial state.
I do not plan to be quite about this and I will be fighting it for myself and other students, imagine all those students with children and their time is being robbed off them, and students who have had to get jobs. It is an injustice, they should have kept the Telford bus. Each student pays £9250 per year to be at the university and I was miss sold as I was informed there was campus bus and to only be given two weeks notice is disgusting!
Worst experience as an international…
Worst experience as an international student. My wife paid all fees and needed a form filled up for tax purposes and logged calls with the Funding/Evision dept. Almost 2 months and no response. In that time she has been audited by the govt revenue agency and blacklisted for not supplying the documents relating to the tuition fees and is still being investigated. Meanwhile, multiple emails and call later-nothing from Wolverhampton. Take your money elsewhere if you want a university that cares about international students. We have been placed in legal jeopardy over something they could do in minutes but cant be bothered to do.

DO NOT sign up with this university!
DO NOT sign up with this university!! Just don’t, they put me on a 6 month study break and I was supposed to go back January this year, and nothing happened and I still haven’t heard a single thing from them!! Extremely poor organisation, we were supposed to have regular meetings online while I was on study break and nothing happened, they locked me out of all my courses and library access when they said they wouldn’t as I would be restarting and now I don’t even exist on their systems at all!! So they’ve robbed me of a module £600 AND most importantly me continuing my masters degree with them!! Would go to a different uni but don’t know how I go about getting these robbing magpies to either give me my money back for the module owed or sorting out what has gone wrong in the study break!! Either way you have only to google their reviews online and you can see just how bad they are!! And trust me there is zilch communication between anyone, they don’t keep to what they say why etc. I want to go to another uni now to start all over again but don’t know how that works with student finance
Awful
How a university justifies 15 minutes of lectures a week on a “taught” masters course is baffling . The response from the university on that matter is “it’s a masters” inferring self guided learning ….. I’m sorry … no ! I have just embarked on another online masters course at another university and receive no less that 11 hours of lectures a week that are live and not pre-recorded .
The course staff are disinterested and unhelpful just directing you back to the course material if you have a question and let’s not get me started on my dissertation supervisor that was late for 2 meetings, had to be chased and chased for feedback , and went radio silent in the last week before submission .
If you value your mental health and being able to enjoy studying avoid this deplorable institution at all costs
MSc Psychology Disaster AVOID!
I have waited a couple of months before posting my review because I just wanted to put this horrible experience behind me.
This course is an embarrassment, run by people who don’t have the ability to run anything like it. You can refer to yourselves ‘academics’ as often as you like. It doesn’t change the fact that this course is woeful. They managed to destroy my love of education. I easily got a first in my first degree and couldn’t wait to start this course. I should have read the reviews first.
They will be all over you like a rash to get you on it (the admin staff are great btw). The technicals issues are embarrassing. I had problem after problem from day one. Enrolling was a nightmare. Then, after paying for my first module I received countless requests for payment. If only I knew how bad it would get.
The ‘teacher’ (what a joke) had an ego the size of Manchester and not much to back it up. He was going to grace us with his wonderful tips each week (he did that once and frankly I wasn’t impressed). Low-quality worksheets were thrown together in Word and put up, then taken down without telling us and a different one put up, causing massive confusion in the first week of the course. Not ONCE was there ever any apology for errors made. Everything is glossed over.
Hours were filled with lacklustre ten-minute Power Point ‘videos’, so boring it made my eyes bleed. They were narrated by somebody who clearly wanted to get away early that day. Students were forced to visit YouTube for inspiration and help. I did complain to the course leader and received a very dismissive email.
There is ZERO communication between students - they don’t encourage that, I wonder why? I counted about 24 names at introduction. By week two about half a dozen people were taking part in assignments and online tasks, by week seven two or three.
When people expressed their anxiety (they actually get you to measure that with a survey along the way - lol!) our ‘teacher’ told us that he understood somewhat, because he worked for multiple organisations, was trying to get published, buy a house, learn Japanese and keep his other half happy! Er? Who cares? You’re not paying seven grand. I do have a screen shot of that message and did send it to the University. I was contacted by the Head of Online Studies and invited to a Teams Meeting to discuss things. I agreed to that and guess what? She never come back to me with a date. (That was at the start of Feb ‘24).
I completed the first module in five weeks, despite HATING it because they put us right on Statistics first (how to destroy a keen student). I completed it early because I was going to be overseas and wanted to focus on my assignment. Then (yes there is more!) they had a cyberattack that took the site down for THREE WEEKS. This is unheard of. I quit then. I was not going to give them any more of my money.
This is an appalling institution that deserved to be put in the spotlight for their shameful attempts at education. I do not suffer from anxiety or insomnia, however Wolverhampton University managed through their Psychology and Well-Being Masters Course to tip me into both. I felt like I was part of some hideous social experiment with the ‘academics’ at the head of it. Well-Being eh?
In agree with the last review
In agreement with the last review. The MSc psychology conversation course is awful. I've done masters degrees online before and never have I been treated so badly by a lack of care, guidance and support
Avoid this university
I’m currently doing the msc psychology conversion and I would not recommend this university to anyone for so many reasons. Help with understanding / deciphering information from lectures is absolutely non-existent. You constantly get met with ‘well, it is a masters’ (but the course is advertised as suitable for people with no psychology undergrad or a level?). I know of masters courses where tutors will consult with you on your assignments - but here we are encouraged to not talk about them with peers and anytime you ask for help you get met with the above comments or re-directed to a lecture. The communication is shockingly bad. During the cyber attack, no one communicated clearly what would happen re deadlines. Currently, we are overdue an assignment mark back. And the uni have not communicated 1) why it’s late 2) when we will get it. Countless people have emailed and received no response. We pay them for a service, and if you are late with an assignment you are penalised by 50%. However if they are late marking, they just don’t tell you and expect you to nervously wait with your fate in their hands. Honestly, spend the extra £2-3k and go somewhere else. This uni causes you nothing but stress.
Study somewhere else
Doing the online bridging Psychology course. No help, apparently lecturers aren’t allowed to speak to you and you’re not allowed to contact other students. What? Marking is a joke, you spend half your like escalating errors. The online tools are not fit for purpose. So confusing. Terrible lectures, an afterthought. Terrible university.
If I could give no stars I would
If I could give no stars I would. Absolute shambles of a law course. Continuous changes to the timetable (with no consultation) including introducing late nights classes for students leaving them at the mercy of trains companies to get home. No regard to the student welfare and a student support service which is non existent!! Absolutely avoid Wolverhampton!!!!!! 🤦♂️
Don’t go here.
Enrolled for MSc Psychology. Paid £1,200 for first two modules that should have started on 5th March. I received nothing. I was the told they had a cyber attack and everything was delayed. Looked at the terms and conditions and it came up saying I was forbidden at looking at them!! Requested my money back and I am STILL waiting for it. Disgusting treatment. Now looking to see a solicitor. Hate being passed from pillar to post with no resolution.
a bucket shop
1- The online Masters in CS with AI is a shamelessly low quality course in which they make no effort to hide that they're cutting corners left and right. Micro-lectures are simply unintelligible, with the person consistently mispronouncing the words including the technical ones which he's meant to know. He jumps from one topic to another halfway, with a language only understandable to himself.
2- The IT system is pathetic (it's been down for 1 week now) and their chief concern is how to resume the payment system!
3- there's no effective support of any kind.
4- Your tuition fee is only so you can have access to the books that you can buy yourself. I would get the refund if I could in a second.
Worst experience of my life
Worst experience of my life. I joined this university as a mature student to study a BA full time. First off the admin staff are very rude and unhelpful. If student finance are slow with the money for your tuition fees or child care you will be harassed daily and threatened with expulsion. The teaching is extremely poor and virtually no support from tutors. You really are on your own here. Thus the psychological stress becomes too much and the main reason for students dropping out. In my course 70% dropped out before the end of year one, then 50% dropped out during the second year. The content taught on my course was of no value whatsoever in the workplace. Worst of all I found myself targeted by a group of students due to my race and religion. Went to a senior member of teaching staff for help. To find, because I’m white, male and Christian the said staff said only non white not Christian can be a victim of discrimination.
To those even thinking about applying for this university, DON’T!
I’m in my last year of college and I was looking at uni to apply to to start in 2024 and Wolverhampton was going to be one of my choices, but when I tell you the experience I had to even go through and I haven’t even enrolled at the university yet I’m planning to go to BCU because they contact and customer service is dreadful and disgusting. The staff don’t know who to put you through to on the phone and it will take days for them to even reply back by email and you can’t even do anything about it. You just have to sit there and wait and sometimes if you tell the staff for the issue they instead of sorting it. They’ll just keep transferring you to someone else. She doesn’t know how to solve the issue and and it goes on After dealing with this, and I was meant to go for a portfolio review and they were not specifically enough about where the interview was being held. They said the university of Wolverhampton and mentioned that has meant to go to George Wallis building even though when I went there, there were several more than 10 and I didn’t know where to go and when I went into the main building, there was no staff, not one single person or even security guards to ask for directions. I tried calling them at the time and that’s where the contact issue went downhill. I will not recommend this university to anyone who who is even thinking of applying. I really wish I looked at the reviews before I actually applied to wanting to go to this university but good thing I had a back up which is BCU so I am planning to go there and I honestly regret applying for this university just by seeing how they treat this units and they haven’t even enrolled when they need help or somewhat assistance .
Thinking of quitting the Msc in…
Thinking of quitting the Msc in Psychology Online. The teaching materials are dreadful. There is no tutoring to speak of and they don't care for the mental health of their students. Avoid.
