Bad attitude from the cheeky girl with…

Bad attitude from the cheeky girl with her hair in a bun and silly London
Soho jumper. We came here for lunch all the way from Surrey as my mate
lives in Battersea and told me its under new management. Arrived with a
paper note on the door "open at 1:30pm today. They are supposed to
open much earlier!. We came back at 1:30pm . They still were not quite
open yet ( chairs still on the tables). We were left to wait outside until she
was ready to open. We are then told no food from the kitchen until 6PM!. We
ordered beers and paid for them. My mate took out a packet of crisps from
his bag to eat as tbey had no food available. This rude girl beh8nd the bar
says, " Did you get that from us?". I mean seriously?, you have no food then
get cheeky about us eating some crisps from our bag??.. DO NOT come
to this place!. The staff are VERY rude. The service is rubbish!! You will be
VERY disappointed!!. Very badly managed. Left a very bitter taste in my
mouth. We WON'Treturn again until they get rid of that rude girl.

Sadly I don’t enjoy writing this.

Sadly I don’t enjoy writing this.
One or two
Members of staff were not welcoming. The girl with the blonde bum was frantic and dismissive of customers. It was as if we were annoying her been there. Opened late no food, it was a complete inconvenience to her that we arrived and made us feel very uncomfortable. Might just need more warm and focused welcome on the customers. Poor management sadly. I couldn’t wait to get out of there as I felt like a burden.

Went there recently discovered the menu…

Went there recently discovered the menu was Mediterranean Greek / Thai influence and under new management.

It really dead for a Friday night no one was dining that did concern us a little but it’s our local so we gave it a chance.

We opted for fish and chips and red Thai curry.
The curry was more of a broth soup consistency (too watery) and the battered fish didn’t look healthy it was darkish brown on the surface appeared to be fried in old oil perhaps.

Improvement would be to state the fish on the menu that way customers can make an informed decision no one wants to assume
Thicken up the Thai curry or state it as soup but a curry goes better with sticky rice than soup. Approx £23 a lot for a watery curry
The fish and chips was the worse dish overall sadly so the score is lower due to this approx £17
The Waiter was friendly and very gracious

I have been to the Woodman previously…

I have been to the Woodman previously and never had such a bad meal as this evening. I ordered the sea bass as I thought it would be light and substantial but was very disappointed 😔 the fish and spinach was soggy, just a sliver of celeriac mash and a few scattered cubes of potatoes. I complained but was still charged the full price of £16. I will not be going back again.

The Woodman - a jewel in Battersea Village, and a must....

We first came across this jewel in Battersea when we had a flyer handed to us while in Battersea Park, announcing the opening of 'The Woodman' under the chef's (James - Owner) control. Since then we have been a regular diners and even after our move from Battersea to Putney, we have still ended up there for drinks & Sunday lunch meet with friends. I can't record every having a bad meal there and only once someone wasn't happy about how rare their beef was, but he was a South African, and they are funny about their steak/beef.

Good selection of French wines and there's a good selection of Ales on the bar. waiting service can be hit or miss but that's down to waiters/waitresses high turn over, to be honest most pubs have that issue, bar side never been a problem. It's a popular local so for Sunday lunch so book in advance. It gets a 5 star, as my last visit was good, good service, wonderful food, and it's sad that the venue is no longer a local for us..
