Selling Broken Luxury Goods

On 15th Feb from Heathrow terminal 4 world duty free I bought a Burberry body perfume bottle and kept it in my world duty free bag and board my flight from London to New delhi, via Abu dhabi. I kept my bag safely and carefully in the overhead bin of the aircraft and at Abu Dhabi Airport, while taking off that bag from over head bin I realised it was smelling perfume and leaked all inside the bag. The bottle leaked all the perfume.

At the abu dhabi airport and in washroom I opened the sealed and realised that the entire bottle was broken. You can see that in the video attached below. Also the bill was in the same bag and the entire bill ink letters got washed away and destroyed because entire bottle got spilled in my bag.

I have sent all these details to the customer care department, including all the proofs, information, barcodes and a very cleared photos & videos. However instead of helping us the customer care people were ignoring the query stating that they are not responsible if the packaging is poor or fragile, it's literally client's responsibility to carry it.

So my fellow friends kindly carry the perfume bottles while boarding, in your hands for the 15 hours light or on our heads, or keep it in your hand bag, which you will be asked to keep in the overhead bin as well, so if broken, it's your fault, they have already managed to eaten up your £70 by providing you broken products in sealed packaging!

Thank You!

Recently used their store at Terminal…

Recently used their store at Terminal 2, LHR. Questioned why they were so expensive for cigarettes and booze when compared with High Street supermarkets. I got it wrong and other customers have too, at least judging by some of the reviews. Spoke to a very helpful Manager who'd worked for years at Tesco and she put me right :) Their cigarettes, by way of one example, have the most prominent prices as being for a carton of 400 - which looks like 200 - but initial impressions are that that is also the price for 200. Booze, likewise, you need to double-check the volume before comparing with High Street prices. WDF are cheap on many fronts but the amount of content / volume you are buying is obviously key. WDF might help themselves to a greater extent with better shelving price tags.

Bought a display pair of Gucci…

Bought a display pair of Gucci sunglasses, looking at them later I realised there were scratches all over the frame and glass.

I paid full price so understandable I contacted their customer service who were useless.

I had discussions with at least 3 different agents, and then with their manager (Lisa Morely) who showed no sympathy and said they had no record of my returned parcel so I'm now without sunglasses AND my money.

Disgusting.

Won't be shopping again.

Dumbing down

We`ve travelled on North Sea Ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge for many years, I`ve always relied on picking up some holiday reading in the onboard shop - not this year ! The World Duty Free organisation has decided there`s no profit in books. Shame on you.

Avoid!!!

I never believed that such a big company with international status serving international customers could be that poor.

They promise quibble free returns. Yeah, right. Returned my product as directed, never heard back from them. Ever. Calls, voicemails, emails.

So I paid for the product, paid for the return and lost the product.

I have now challenged the transaction via my credit card but still haven't heard back.

Will never give my money to them ever again.

DON’T BE FOOLED

DON’T BE FOOLED..... We bought Chanel perfume at London Gatwick for £93.70 assured by World Duty Free staff it was the best price. We found the same Chanel perfume in World Duty Free at Palma for €93.50 (approx £80). Initially World Duty Free staff said they could refund the UK purchase and purchase again at cheaper price. Then they said we needed to take UK purchase back to Gatwick for a refund or contact World Duty Free on our return.
We called World Duty Free to be told they don’t price match out of the UK and we shouldn’t have been told they would match it and nothing they could do but offer a refund if we paid postage to return the perfume. Leaving us without any perfume.
A VERY poor show and huge Training input needed to Staff.

Cheaper in the supermarket

Cheaper in the supermarket, however picked ip a 1ltr bottle of Tanqueray to be told I couldn't buy it as I was travelling within the EU. Just add the duty on, you incompetent fools. Also apparently there was signage, but unless you have a degree in hieroglyphics, good luck deciphering it.

Worst “customer service” ever - shameful for a service that deals with many international customers

Worst “customer service” experience ever - bought a pair of sunglasses as a gift to click and collect when opened they had scratches on the front so not in acceptable condition to gift therefore wanted to return. Was told I’d have to return at my cost and it’s NOT a “60 day no quibble” guarantee as they say because they have quibbled and said they will only refund me after assessing the damage (sunglasses picked up a few days ago)?! What does that even mean?? I then called the terminal I bought from directly and they said the sunglasses are scratched as they were a display pair - when I queried this I was told that all sunglasses stock is sold from the display!!! This is nonsense - I have bought sunglasses before and they were brand new. Secondly, why would I pay full price for something tried on by umpteen other customers and damaged to boot. Thirdly, they should have notified me that they were display prior to purchase as I would have expected a further price discount or not bothered buying a damaged gift. Anywhere else if you pay full price and get something damaged or used you get your money back! Absolute thieves.

Cannot be trusted

Cannot be trusted

This company cannot be trusted to keep their promises. Their customer service network is slow and inefficient. Do not buy anything from Duty Free with the expectation of collecting it upon your return - they state they are 24hrs but they are not.

One of the worst examples of customer service I ever experienced.

Truly a shocking company that only wants your money

Cigars not stored properly.

I bought 2 cigars from the Heathrow Terminal 5 branch, when I opened the tubes they were covered in mould, clearly they have not been stored properly. Waste of £20.

Staff are friendly enough but the service is poor and the prices are not at all cheap. Buy online before you go.

Don't patronise: return issues, collection issues and awful prices.

Purchased perfume for collection on arrival, however, collection issues, all effort to contact customer service unsuccessful. customer service phone straight to voicemail and never returned calls, email too was never replied.
They are just there at airports to collect your money and don't care about customers.
Totally awful all round !!!

No quibble guarantee, more like quibble everything!

I purchased some perfume and cologne at Gatwick Airport, the shop advertises heavily that they have a no quibble return for 60 days for any reason. This was again highlighted at the till and on the back of the receipt. It turns out I purchased the wrong perfume and went to return it in the arrivals area on my return. However they don't do returns on that till because the products are not "on their system." I can return a product from ASDA purchased in Glasgow back in Cambridge but apparently World Duty Free can't process a refund in the same building. They said I would have to return it special delivery at my own cost to get a refund. After weeks of complaining and threatening to file a charge back against the company they finally said they would refund the postage. I posted the item and then they backtracked and said they wouldn't refund me, which meant another email before I finally received a refund. I can honestly say I will never buy from that shop again.
