Two weeks of silence before a two-month closure
Our company held dedicated desk memberships for nine people at x+why’s Level 7 space at 22 Bishopsgate. When x+why took over operation of the floor, we were told on 23 September that it would close from 23 October to January 2027 for refurbishment. We were also told our agreements would need to be re-signed and that alternative x+why sites would be available in the meantime.
We replied the next day, picked a preferred alternative site and asked some practical questions. These covered a site visit, storage for our equipment, keeping the team together, and how the closure would affect our fees. We heard nothing. We followed up on 2 October, again on 5 October, escalated to the Workspace Director, and sent an urgent email on 8 October. We got a response only after we made a formal complaint to senior management on 9 October.
When we signed up, we were told x+why offers a premium level of customer service. In practice, with a closure only weeks away, a paying member with a contract in place went more than two weeks without knowing where the team would work or on what terms.
The spaces may well be good, but we can’t recommend x+why to any business that needs reliable communication from its workspace provider.
