We left the apartment in december 2024. Did the handover and have the handover protocol done correctly. But still havent received any security deposit back.
Hired a lawyer , but still havent received any received any deposit even after formal legal letter.
They definitely have to be taken to the court proceedings.
Worst place to rent property from.
We have been out of Germany for 3 years now, no deposit in sight and we got a letter confirming a refund for heating ( well over 3 years later).
If you care about your money, don’t use this company.

They are breaking the law but you can't do anything about it...betrug with heating costs,,, 12 months backlog with emails...
Working on roof of building very loud and from 07.00 without any pre warning or notification..against German law... Who to cal..who to inform...not possible...Tenants are helpless....and no one does anything due to the apartment shortage in Berlin...if you don't like it ..leave..someone will take your place next day... Germany used to have a good reputation for efficiency...now the worst...
They did not want to return my rental deposite for 3 years once I left the apartment. No answer at all.
Finally I got Lawyer and they returned it with all expenses after the court order.
