Things went really bad once Trinet acquired Zenefits. They had good customer service and a nice platform for the price. Afterwards, horrible customer service and the push to get everyone on their PEO platform for an insane cost.
Terrible experience with their Payroll Department. Numerous mistakes and no way of contacting them directly.
Terrible experience with their Payroll Tax department. They made numerous mistakes submitting my employee and employer payroll taxes and those got me in trouble with Unemployment Insurance. It was IMPOSSIBLE to contact the Payroll Tax team directly, I just kept getting bounced around by customer service reps, and they kept saying "the Tax team reviews tickets within 30-45 business days" even when it was urgent, with outstanding balances and unpaid taxes (from THEIR mistake!). Avoid Trinet at all cost, there are way better options (and cheaper) out there.

Group of college interns managing your business and have no clue what businesses are frustrated with the lack of accountable support group. Dont fall for the fake demonstration. We did.

We are a small business and gave Zenefits a try. When we very first started, implementation was great but once we were done with implementing it was/is frustration after frustration. We waited MONTHS, not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, almost 5 months to hear back from anyone in regard to our needs, questions and simple requests (ex: how to onboard an employee). We purchased Zenefits to help us. But it has not helped. It's cost us money, time, and more! Both HR and payroll have been a nightmare and headache. You can't speak with someone over the phone, everything is done through email by opening a "case/ticket". We fought tooth and nail with them about many of our concerns, questions and issues and it still took months and complaints in order for us to get someone to help us. All we ever asked is to get service for a service WE PAY FOR! Some things still haven't been addressed and some of the things that were "addressed", we later found out that they were done wrong and not in compliance to our state's laws! Zenefits is a rip off and can get your company sued. Stay away!

Zenefits is pretty user fiendly and has all that we need to process payroll efficiently, manage benefits,etc.
Their customer service turn around used to be terrible, but has greatly improved. It takes a while to hear back from the tax department, so this is something they can improve on. Other than that, I enjoy using the platform.
Continuous Trainings
My company has been with Zenefits for three now and it continuously grows and gets better. My favorite part is that they are always sending out training and "how-to's."
Fragmented Service and Horrible Payroll
Zenefits is a collaboration of a multitude of different companies that try to act like one company. Every module is monitored by a different company.
I didn't even get set up correctly for the first 6 weeks , with no compensation or apology.
They give me less than ONE day (approve the next business day by 2:00 p.m.) to approve timecards and payroll and IF there is a holiday, there is virtually zero way to finish the week and pay my employees on their payday. Yet, they take my money right on time- which leads me to believe they earn a ton off of interest of their clients money.
Not even a comparison with ADP and Paychex but I'm stuck in this contract for awhile...don't do it.
Awful experience
Awful experience. Zenefits got me in trouble with my employer. Customer manager from ClubZen/Trinet Zenefits claimed that I didn’t do the trainings and took away the reward points that I’ve accomplished from the trainings that I’ve done. I’ve tried to explain to her that I’ve accomplished those trainings before I joined the ClubZen. I even did pass the certificate professional exam from Zenefits before I joined the ClubZen. She claimed that all of them were not recorded and therefore she took away the reward points that I’ve received. I try to solve the issue with the customer care from Zenefits but instead of solving the problem they file a complaint against me to my employer and got me in trouble. I have to take a day off in order of my employer to solve this issue. Zenefits is bad!
Zenefits charges for people that has left our company
We have a team of 6 people. Zenefits charges us for 13 people. We ask them to update our employee list, but they say they can't do it. This is A LOT MONEY THEY ARE WASTING every month!!!

Worst HR System and Account Manager
Zenefits is one of the WORST systems I have ever used in HR. It is NOT intuitive. There are little to no customization options. The majority of processes are manual. Reporting is very inaccurate. Creating detailed custom reports is a nightmare. They don't have a data migration option, so if you're merging companies or changing from a different system to Zenefits, good luck. Our Account Manager is rarely helpful and lacks customer service skills.
Don't even go there!
I was a customer of Zenefits from 2018-2022. I have had 2 separate companies that I used (or attempted to use Zenefits with) The fist 3 years and the first company Zenefits was wonderful! However, when I started my new company in the fall of 2021 it was natural to want to use Zenefits again! IT WAS A NIGHTMARE! Absolutely with no resolution control or the ability to move the issues to upper management. I just paid for a full year (due to contract) for a system that I could not even use. That had been set up entirely wrong,(keep in mind I was already familiar and knew the programs well) when an employee would reach out to help me they would email me at 3AM with "I am so sorry you missed your appointment with us" I did not miss the appointment they have not even the simple ability to tell time and decipher time zones. This went on for months. I since have found Paychex, and have zero issues, all benefits can be found and purchased through Paychex. I am so thankful that Zenefits is so unprofessional and unorganized, they could never have handled this entrepreneur! If they cannot take care of and organize their company there is no way they could handle mine.

If you think ADP provides terrible customer service Zenefits takes the cake over and over again. From wrong information to my employees to no action at all. This is the worst cutomer service I have experienced in thast 25 years of implementing HRIS systems.
Their FSA is a horror movie... they keep on adding more and more banks as they change banks like you change underwear. The system worked for 2 weeks after that, charges for FSA/DC/Commuter are constantly in a flux... and the customer service manager assigned is a joke. They only refer you to their website for items they can even explain.
Stay away... during the sales call they tell you they can integrate with any type of report... not true!

Love this new payroll system as it makes ADP look so outdated. Its got its lively buzz and a great team to work with, making the software more user-intuitive. Love how they handle our taxes so i can do my job better.

Zenefits has been an excellent platform. This year I did have a few challenges with setting up vacation rules and it was difficult to reach a live agent as you have to go through several screens to get to the point where they will connect you with an agent. At that point the agent was very helpful and assisted me with great professionalism!
