Extremely poor support from Zoomcar

Extremely poor support from Zoomcar. They promised insurance claim support and repair coordination after an accident, but even after 10+ days there was no action, no response, and no responsibility taken. I had to manage everything myself and release the vehicle from the garage at my own risk. Very bad customer service and no accountability when real problems happen. Not reliable for car owners.

Worst Car Rental Experience Ever

I hate to say this (genuinely) but one star is being generous. The rental pickup is not grouped with the others (such as Enterprise, Alamo, etc) but is accessed via a hotel shuttle. Not a huge deal but definitely not convenient. Upon arriving to the rental site, I found that there were three booths which were connected to webcams. The customer service was remote.

There were three different credit card machines in that single kiosk, which I found to be notable, though not necessarily problematic.

First, they requested more information than I have ever been asked to provide for a car rental. They asked me to scan the front and back of my license, the front and back of my credit card, and provide all of the details of my insurance policy. The biggest surprise was the insurance. The rep examined the details of my policy and then told me an additional $200 would be charged because my insurance policy did not have adequate “loss of use” coverage. I was renting a basic Toyota Corolla for $95 (that would probably not even be available at one of the major renters due to its age and lack of features). It is worth nothing that my monthly premium for my comprehensive car insurance policy is around $100, so this charge would have made my total triple the original price.

I told him I was going to cancel and rent from another company (I could see on Expedia that a much nicer car could be rented for the same price after this extra charge). Of course, the rep said “let me talk to my manager” after which he told me the charge would be only $50. I reluctantly accepted, because the process had taken me about 30 minutes at this point.

I was then told that there would be a $250 deposit. With all of these additional charges, my credit card would have been over its limit, so I used my debit card. He then told me I had to use the card that he was expecting. So, he had to refund the original charge, charge that to my debit, then charge the deposit to my credit card.

By this time, the man who was in the adjacent kiosk had cancelled his rental due to the surprise fees and excessive personal information requests.

Please do not, under any circumstances, rent from this company.

When returning my rental, a family of four was there renting a car. The woman who was finalizing her rental began to complain (everyone in the room could hear what was happening). Apparently, they were going to charge her an additional (non-refundable) $700, because her insurance deductible was “too high”. One by one, people in the room began to explain their own situations, which were not identical but similar in one way: we were each charged sizable surprise fees.

This seems to be the business model. A business like this cannot last long. Every person in the room was a dissatisfied customer prepared to give a 1-star review.

STOP CHARGING HIDDEN FEES. STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF.

Was not expecting literally a "zoom"…

Was not expecting literally a "zoom" call in a phone booth with someone who barely spoke English in Orlando, FL off site of the airport. Was also told that they would not accept my insurance as they did not participate (Allstate really????). Advised if we pass any tolls that they are $25 for each toll. They roped me into spending $325 for insurance and $15/day for 7 days for basic tolls. I knew better but was exhausted and fell into their "TRAP." The process also took 45 minutes with a line out the door waiting to pick up a car. Then you have to wait in another line to pick up keys. They advertise $2/day for a car. When it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Key fav battery was low, tire pressure was low and the passenger window would not roll all the way up for two days. No inspection of vehicle before handing off to guest. DONT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!

Good experience with high rated cars

I've used Zoomcar quite a few times. Most of reviews i saw below are from US where i guess this company doesnt even operate. Zoomcar is a marketplace where you need to book a good rated car with good reviews. I have taken cars mostly over 4.5+ reviews and havent faced an issue yet.

DO NOT RENT FROM ZOOM!

DO NOT RENT FROM ZOOM!! This company has poor business practices - they will tell you the 3rd party booking cancelled your reservation, but when you contact the company, you find out that's not the case at all. If I could give them zero stars I would. We reserved a mid-size SUV and when we went to pick it up - realized it was not onsite at the airport with other well-known car rental companies. So we headed to the address listed and when we arrived there were about 20 people in line ahead of us and there were only 2 customer service reps assisting everyone. As we are standing there, I could see that there were 3-4 couples standing around on the phone, who were not happy. I could overhear some of the conversations and some being told their reservation had been cancelled, which made me concerned, because they had also booked with the same third party that I had used. I checked my reservation and it was still showing. As I was standing there, I started reading the fine print and noticed that Zoom was going to put a $1000 hold on my credit card and if we didn't use their insurance, there would be an additional $250 hold on the credit card as well. I'm a FL resident and was renting the vehicle to drive to Alabama and while standing there waiting to be called, I noticed that FL residents were limited to 50 miles per day while renting in Florida. When we made it up to the counter, we were told that Expedia cancelled our reservation at 9am - which honestly was a relief at this point. I am now working with Expedia to get a refund; however, Zoom is now stating that we didn't show for the reservation and are ineligible for a refund. All I can say is it may have cost me $72.27, but it taught me a valuable lesson - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

At the time of booking car was showing in the app and after making full payment suddenly got call from customer care and they said car has met with an accident and not able to complete your booking. They need to verify before hosting the car in app, They have given me an alternative options which are higher than paid amount again I have to pay more money for booking modification, this was completely unacceptable I have booked car for emergency situation because my mother was hospitalized, I didn’t get refund and didn’t get car which I had booked. Please don’t trust this company anymore they have started making fool to customers.

Shady, nonexistent...

Zoom is the same as Colusa rent a car.

First of all, BEWARE OF THEIR ADDITIONAL HIDDEN CHARGES!
If you decline coverage, you will pay $15-25 or more per day, and I did not verify other add-ons, because I canceled on time before the trip.

I made a new reservation with their Zoom rent a car in FLL airport.
1) I never received a confirmation e-mail, and now I cannot click "Resend e-mail", because I cannot find my reservation on your website.
2) I tried to call them at 1-888-xxx and went though the prompts, but there was no option to speak to a live agent, so I selected "Contact me via WhatsApp", yet there was no response, just dropped call, and the same happened when I selected "Contact me via SMS".
Then I called their local 1-954-xxx - same result.

It surely doesn't feel like a legitimate rental company, and I am ready to file various complaints (BBB, etc.), but I wanted to give them a chance to explain and do the right thing and fix the situation, but they feel nonexistent, more like shady entity.

I suppose this review and rating doesn't matter to them and doesn't change anything, because their ratings are 1.0 everywhere, on BBB page, Yelp, etc.
What a shame!
