According to our records, your room was serviced daily throughout your stay. The housekeeper assigned to your room completed the scheduled cleaning each day and, this housekeeper submitted videos of the room after cleaning to management. After reviewing these recordings, we have concluded that the room was cleaned on a daily basis.

Regarding the bed linen, we would like to clarify that XO Hotels has a sustainability policy under which bed linen is not changed automatically during a stay. This information is communicated in the welcome information sent to guests prior to arrival. Towels and other housekeeping services remain available, but linen is not routinely replaced every day.

We are therefore unable to agree with the statement that the room was not cleaned at all during your stay. Nevertheless, we regret that the housekeeping service did not meet your expectations and that you left with this impression.

We understand that it was frustrating to discover that your phone had accidentally fallen into the space below the elevator and that retrieving it involved additional costs. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.

For safety reasons, hotel employees are strictly prohibited from accessing, opening, or interfering with any part of the elevator system. This is not a hotel policy, but a legal and safety requirement. When personal belongings fall into an area that can only be accessed through the elevator mechanism or shaft, we are required to contact the elevator maintenance company.

Unfortunately, the elevator supplier charges a call-out fee for sending a certified technician to safely access these restricted areas and retrieve items. As the hotel did not cause the incident and has no ability to resolve it independently, these costs are the responsibility of the owner of the lost item.

We would also like to clarify that this situation is entirely different from a technical malfunction, a medical emergency, or an injury involving a guest. In those circumstances, different procedures apply. In this case, the request concerned the retrieval of a personal item from a restricted technical area that can only be accessed by a specialized external contractor.

We understand that this was not the answer you were hoping for. However, the fee was not imposed by the hotel as a penalty or a way to generate revenue. It is simply the cost charged by the elevator company for providing a technician to perform the retrieval safely and in accordance with safety regulations.

Therefore, we must respectfully maintain our position that any costs associated with retrieving the phone are the responsibility of the owner of the device.
