Years is a fantastic dog food company
Years is a fantastic dog food company. I have been using it for a month and my dog loves it, regarding the recent voluntary removal of their food, I strongly believe they will sort this all out, Something has went wrong and I believe they won’t let all the dog owners down. I will be continuing to support them and I will be renewing my subscription. I strongly believe it’s not their fault and they will get to the cause, if they are PROVEN to be the cause. I honestly think it’s beyond their control.. I will keep supporting years, as I think the food is the best on the market. I love that you see all the ingredients in the trays and it’s not like frozen mush from other suppliers. Look forward to my subscription starting again !!!
Disappointing.
I’ve had my dog on Years for almost three years now and, other than some issues with trays splitting during the first year which were quickly rectified through changes to the packaging, I’ve never had many problems with them.
So the recent recall came as a massive shock to me. Luckily, as far as I’m aware, my dog hasn’t been affected by the addition of the buckwheat.
I can completely sympathise with owners whose dogs have been affected, and I understand why so many people are angry, particularly given the lack of transparency surrounding the recipe change. I’ve checked back through my emails and I never received any notification informing me that the recipe had been changed. In my opinion, that is not acceptable and is incredibly disappointing.
That being said, I do feel that some people are being somewhat unfair towards Years regarding the speed of their customer service responses. They are still a relatively small company and realistically can only deal with so many enquiries at once. From what I’ve seen, they have done the right thing by carrying out a full recall, and I do believe that they care about the welfare of the dogs who eat their food.
This has undoubtedly been a MASSIVE oversight and a huge mistake, seemingly made to save money which has ironically ended up costing them far more in the long run. There is absolutely no excuse for the lack of communication around such a significant recipe change and I hope they learn from this.
Years have since got back to me via email and issued a refund for my most recent order. They’ve also assured me that they will respond to my other queries once they have worked through the more urgent concerns, such as dealing with poorly dogs and processing refunds.
Because of this, I’m a little confused by some of the comments saying that Years aren’t offering refunds and are only offering store credit. That certainly hasn’t been my experience so far.
For now, I’m giving 3 stars to remain neutral. I’ll update my review & rating once I’ve seen how Years handles the situation going forward.
Honestly
Honestly, my dog is SO fussy with food and I feel like I’ve tried absolutely everything with her! She’s been on this for around 4 weeks now and I honestly can’t believe the difference — she actually sits at her bowl waiting for more! 😂🥹
I never ever leave reviews, but I genuinely felt like I needed to for this because I’m so happy we’ve finally found something she loves. Thank you so much! ☺️❤️
Would give it lower of course
Would give it lower of course, if I could their food is killing dogs, cause they wanted to save a few quid on ingredients put buckwheat in it without testing on the sly not tell anyone dogs dying and go blind. All for profit amazing how the struggling on that considering the food.never again will I spend a penny with this company ,and I’ll spend my life informing everyone of their profits above dog life’s
10/10 service 10/10 food
We had a hiccup with our delivery, not years fault. They dealt with it quickly and had a replacement sent out within 2 days. 10/10 customer service!
The food is amazing. It looks like real food and disappears in minutes. Our dog stopped eating after we lost her brother and this was the only food she’d eat. Good quality food for a good price. Highly recommend years.
Don’t fall for the fake 5 star reviews…
Don’t fall for the fake 5 star reviews (damage control) they do the same on AADF. I’m appalled by this company. Not to mention their flimsy packaging with food that is ALWAYS underweight. Years should let their customers know where they source their ingredients from. It’s not the UK I’ll tell you that much. Subscription has been cancelled, I hope this shuts them down for good.
Dangerous to dogs
Dangerous to dogs, showing no care by not putting it on socials earlier. Clearly trying to keep investors happy over dogs safety
one happy dog
My dog has been eating years food a few months now and absolutely loves it , they have an excellent variety and it’s good quality food , I’ve only ever had one problem and it was sorted out straight away by customer support , i would definitely recommend them .
Exceptional customer service
Exceptional customer service, took only 1 day to issue a refund once I emailed them, since we now can’t use the recalled food.
I do hope they get the food issues sorted so we can go back to using Years.
Gave my dog dry eye syndrome
Following the product recall, I brought my dog to the vet and was diagnosed with severe dry eye syndrome (I thought that her eye gunk was a bad dose of hayfever). Thankfully, it hasn't set in to the point of partial/full blindness like some of the dogs affected. She is now on eye drops to hopefully kick start her tear ducts working again, I will know in 6 weeks whether she now has a lifelong condition (dry eye usually is, but is normally an immune problem rather than triggered by food). I have now reported this to Years.com, I suspect the initial 57 complaints they had will rise sharply.
I can't put into words how furious I am. We should trust in our dog's food, and this is a premium product that we paid a surplus expecting extra care to be taken.
My heart is broken for some of the stories I've seen of dogs in a huge amount of pain, life long chronic conditions, owners struggling to cover vet fees running into the thousands. My case is mild compared to most and I know how upset I've been.
I don't see how criminal charges aren't brought against the owners of Years.com, I suspect the scale of the problem is still being understood.
PRODUCT RECALL YET NO RESPONSE.
Sent an email, text message, wattsapp message but no one has contacted me back.
Great response from years during this…
Great response from years during this difficult time for them full refund and collection of food great service as always hopevtr back up and running very soon
Not to be trusted
Was great until they changed an ingredient in their recipes without telling anyone and now hundreds of dogs have suffered lasting eye damage and customers faced with heavy vet bills. They have recalled all their meals and put a hold on production for 6 weeks whist they change back to using previous ingredients
Trust Gone With Years
Not to pile onto Years but having received the email recall at 11.45pm Monday (sneaky timing to miss mass influx of calls no doubt) took my dog to the vet first thing Tuesday only to find out that she may have bilateral dry eye, eyes are well below acceptable levels, started on drops but they hope she'll make a full recovery (£125 quid - are Years going to reimburse me for that - ppftt don't think so) She had been scratching her eye and had more gunk that usual but I put it down summer allergies (feel a complete idiot for this now) however not in million years did I think it could be her food causing this! Checked through emails and not once have they informed me of any ingredient change!! Im left with 10 unopened trays now which are going straight in the bin! No mention of a refund either only credit, seriously who would want to buy Years again after this?? I would urge all owners to take their pet(s) to the Vet to get checked out, as if this is left untreated at worst they can go blind / have to surgery or at best be on long term medication!
Ruined your own brand in 2 years
Surprise surprise 2 years on from my last review you have now harmed hundreds of innocent dogs. How important is that AADF score now? Do you still feel you are the best dog food? Slagged off so many good dog food brands including the one i use only to now become one of the worst. Hope you shut down this company has been toxic from the start.
Would rate lower if possible, dangerous to dogs
Would rate lower if possible.
This food has killed peoples dogs, made them have eye problems for months, even sent some dogs blind.
They changed an ingredient without informing consumers and didn’t announce a recall until the news had already leaked elsewhere.
Now a lot of customers are still being charged and having orders delivered despite the recall and no one is able to get in touch with customer service and when they do the chats are closed immediately.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Very disappointed
The subscription required me to buy more food than my dog could eat. I tried just ordering what i needed but it took ages to arrive. Then I received a message to stop feeding my dog the food because of an allergen of buckwheat ingredient in the food. I now have three full unopened packs and one partially used. I had to go and buy other off supermarket food for my dog. I will also be taking my dog to the vet as I am concerned about damage to his eyes because of the toxic ingredient
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I have completely lost all trust in this company.
The way this situation has been handled is absolutely disgraceful.
You changed the recipe from quinoa to buckwheat, yet customers who trusted you to feed their dogs were not made sufficiently aware of what was changing or what the potential consequences could be. People buy your food believing that the ingredients have been properly researched, tested and deemed safe. We should not have to investigate every bag ourselves wondering whether a company has quietly changed the formulation of something our dogs have eaten safely before.
Now there is a voluntary recall, and owners are reporting absolutely horrific consequences involving their dogs' eyesight, including serious and potentially permanent eye problems. Some owners are facing the possibility of lifelong treatment and, according to reports being shared, some dogs have even required eyes to be removed.
These aren't products. These are people's dogs. They are members of our families.
What makes this even worse is the response. It took nearly 24 hours for anything meaningful to appear on social media while terrified owners were desperately trying to work out what was happening. At the same time, the product has continued to be obtainable through retailers and the company website has remained operational.
And then there's the offer of credit.
Credit?!
Why on earth would someone whose trust in your company has been completely destroyed want CREDIT to spend with you again?
People don't want another bag of dog food. They want their dogs to be okay. They want answers. They want accountability. They want to know how a recipe change like this happened, what testing was carried out beforehand, when the company first became aware there could be a problem, and why customers weren't warned immediately.
If the reports from affected owners are confirmed to be connected to this food, then some families could be dealing with the consequences for the rest of their dogs' lives. No refund or account credit comes remotely close to addressing that.
I currently have every finger crossed that our own dog is going to be absolutely fine. The fact that we're even having to worry about whether something we fed him in good faith could have harmed him makes me feel sick.
We trusted this company with the health of our dog.
That trust has gone.
Completely.
Whatever happens from here, I will never feed my dog this company's food again. I will never recommend it to anyone, and I cannot imagine how the company expects customers to trust them after the way this has been handled.
Dogs rely entirely on us to keep them safe. In turn, we rely on pet-food manufacturers to take that responsibility every bit as seriously as we do.
I genuinely hope every single dog affected makes a full recovery.
And I sincerely hope there is a thorough investigation into exactly what happened here, why it happened, and whether it could have been prevented.
Dog food that is dangerous to dogs - product recall
There has been Buckwheat in their dog food which has permanently damaged many dogs eyesight since December. Avoid this brand. They have just issued a product recall but the recipe changed in December - nearly 8 months ago!
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE…
I had problems with my dog's food delivery going to the address from which I'd recently moved, my fault for not telling Years sooner. On contacting Years about this Senna ensured another delivery would be sent to my new address at no extra charge, which duly arrived.
Senna was extremely helpful and deserves the full 5 stars, as does the company for their dog food which my little 14 year old terrier loves. Thank you.
