Chef Abhilasha was superb
Chef Abhilasha was fantastic. Her passion for what she does is so obvious and she most definitely brings that passion in her cooking.
The food was superb and her pistachio cake dessert was hands down the best dessert I’ve had in as long as I can remember
Run don’t walk
They went above and beyond to accommodate our very picky family and helped create a truly memorable experience. An annual family gathering for the ages!
Amazing service
Amazing service! Super easy to book, chef Abhilasha responded quickly and curated an amazing, mouth watering menu!! Very happy with yhangry
Fantastic experience with Yhangry
Fantastic experience with Yhangry. Chef Abhilasha’s menu was excellent.
We’ve used yhangry a number of times…
We’ve used yhangry a number of times now to celebrate birthdays etc and it’s always a truly wonderful experience! We’ve booked Mexican, pan-Asian and Italian (amongst others) and every chef has been superb. Couldn’t recommend more highly!
Misleading at best, dishonest/untrustworthy at worst. Charged me after saying they would cancel/refund
TLDR: Read all yhangry's T&Cs and full policies in FULL before booking anything!!! Do not trust what is on the homepage and emails, as they don't mention when there are exclusions.
This company is not up front and transparent about exclusions to policies. If you’re planning a Christmas or NYE gathering, beware that there is zero refund policy once you’ve confirmed and paid any deposit, despite the homepage and multiple emails I received all stating a “100% refund until 7 days before your event”. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they would exclude those dates; however, the issue is that nowhere is this mentioned within the process of setting up or paying for your event, or in any of their confirmation emails. Nor is there even an asterisk next to their "full refund" message to alert to people before they book. That feels very purposefully misleading and hidden.
I had pre-booked a NYE event while still confirming final guest numbers - as you can change the guest numbers for the event. Not as many people were available as I had hoped, so was going to cancel my 'canape' style event and rebook for a seated dinner which would involve cancelling the first event. I only found out that I could not cancel after I reached out to them about the remaining payment on the original event. When I complained saying that this NYE exclusion was mentioned nowhere, Yhangry just defended themselves. They said that the only way they would allow me to cancel it was if I spoke to the chef and he agreed to accept the cancellation. Thankfully he did, and I followed up to let yhangry know and confirm the cancellation. They told me on the phone that they would cancel & issue a refund. That was either a lie, or they haven’t actioned this as a priority because I was charged the remaining £450 amount this morning! I’ve emailed them, to which they’ve responded that they’ve transferred the request to the concerned team and “The team will contact you again and guide you further on this matter.” WHAT? I don’t need guiding, I need my refund as they promised. I’ll be reporting them to the legal Ombudsman end of day tomorrow if they don’t.
Yhangry have a responsibility to make sure people are aware there are exemptions so people can make an informed decision. I can’t tell whether it's incompetency or intentional/malicious that yhangry have not signposted vital information like this in their booking journey to let people know. Someone could EASILY lose 000s on booking a lavish or large dinner party which would completely ruin their Xmas or NYE.
It’s a shame as it’s a great concept, but they have zero competency, honesty, and integrity from my customer service experience with them so far. Not to mention the others who have actually hosted an event and then had it go haywire & are met with a total lack of accountability from Yhangry.
Additionally, be prepared to receive a million email messages (they spam your inbox with notifications, reminders, and marketing). The FAQs link in their footer also sends you to a Japanese clothing site... You would never see this from a professional service! If you plan to book, it’s at your risk and you should read every line in their legal T&Cs and policies just in CASE there's something that might affect you. Unfortunately, after this experience, and reading other unfortunate circumstances, that's what you need to do with these guys… Better yet, avoid and look into Dineindulge or Togather, instead.
Like another person below in Oct 2024
Like another person below in Oct 2024, I got an erroneous message from Ben Dawson claiming to a have a private client that wanted to book my private rental property for 10 days and they wanted it to be fully catered.
I contacted yhangry and they admitted they were using it as a "tactic" to gain traction in the market and to create more partners. The only positive thing I can say about them is that they were honest when they got caught out.
I had an email chain with Rosie and their founder Siddhi. Really horrible selling practices.
Great service
Great service. Arrived on time, excellent food, the soup in particular was outstanding. Cleared up really well. Would use again.

Was really looking forward to my experience (still am) but got charged an extra £50 after booking because they said that my voucher was not valid (even though my account mentioned I had £135 to use). No email, just a random invoice being sent to me. The platform should validate vouchers prior to booking - not after and then decide to retroactively charge me?

Chef Jamie T
Chef Jamie T - Incredible Food!
My friend hired Chef Jamie Tully to celebrate her 50th! The food and service was incredible, so tasty. It felt like a real luxury, I wouldn't hesitate to book Jamie and recommend him to others. Thank you

Business with questionable values
I actually didn't use them but they are doing unethical marketing strategy with using someone called Ben Dawson (pretending to book our venue) but truly only trying to get us to use Yhangry. What values such a business represent? 😔

Unreliable: our chef cancelled last minute
We booked the chef months in advance but they cancelled 5 days before our event. Yhangry put the job out to other chefs but they were all either more expensive (for the same service) or really not suitable.
We were given a refund but stuck without a chef.
Yhangry should be covering the difference in cost if alternative chefs are more expensive, especially if the cancellation is less than a week in advance.

Excellent service
Excellent service, a very smooth experience. Our chef was first class and made for a memorable 70th birthday lunch for my wife.

Avoid this company!
There are much better alternatives to this service, which was totally substandard.
1. The amount of food was ridiculous for £100+ per head. The takeaway afterwards was a saviour! It was best described as a 5 course tapas meal. In defence of the Chef, it was exactly as noted on the menu - we were clearly foolish to assume there'd be sides or more to it. For example, the dessert mousse was around a table spoon of mousse (literally), dotted over the plate, the steak we chose was probably around 8cm2, and that was the complete dish (wasn't anything special, just a steak, fairly well cooked like I would at home).
2. Two guests became very poorly afterwards. We suspect the Sole.
3. There was indeed a “wipe down” of surfaces by Ellen (the Chef) but my property was NOT left as it was found. Grease all over surfaces / KITCHEN CABINETS / chopping boards, the hob was still dirty, sinks were not cleaned and pans were RAMMED into the dishwasher (we had to clean by hand - they would never have cleaned on a cycle) and the floor was just as bad as the surfaces (I have no idea how it became so greased from cooking 5 small tapas plates of food). There was even food splatters on window sills and windows.
I have no idea where Ellen parked, I have an 80 meter driveway and her car was nowhere to be seen. This just shows how little food was brought with her, she carried it in 2 small bags. That’s all that she brought with her. She arrived 1 hour before service to prep the entire meal.
Not to mention that the “experience” of having a Chef was near none existent. No explanation or presentation of the tapas plates and near no engagement. I had more conversation with the chap who delivered the takeaway afterwards. Ellen was polite but, not the experience I was promised.
yHangry did offer to refund 4% of the order and the Chef offered 10%. But, this still represented a massive overcharge on what was delivered and was unfair in my opinion. I'd rather leave an honest review than accept such a small unjust reduction. I expected, of course, to pay more than a restaurant but it was truly shocking and a lot of work thereafter to clean up. Ellen denied the issues (yHangry claim "... excellent track record of 18 jobs with 11 positive review") but it was indefensible on this occasion. We have photos of everything so, if she counters this review with a reply, I'll set up a website to share them and update on here.
Another prudent point is to ignore their website and read their terms. The website makes a big deal of the "guarantee":
"At Yhangry, all payments are securely held in escrow until after your event. This ensures your funds are protected, minimizing any risks. Whether your concern is a no-show chef or a bad experience, pay securely through the platform for peace of mind.".
yHangry were quick to point out their terms:
"...WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE TO YOU FOR THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WHICH THE INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONALS PROVIDE AND WE ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A REFUND OR CREDIT NOTE IN THE EVENT YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WHICH YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONALS".
This is misleading and I'm about to submit a report to ASA. I'll update the outcome on the review.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Update 06/08 following yHangry reply:
1. As noted, I’ll create a URL of all photos for your customers to see. No back and forth, it’s plain to see!
2. I’ve already confirmed in the review that the menu was exactly as described and that I should have reviewed more closely that it was 100% literal (albeit, it didn’t note the ridiculous portions).
3. I DID confirm the food poisoning directly on WhatsApp and an email during our conversations. Why lie? Two guests became ill immediately after the meal. I’ll also include screenshots of this on the URL.
4. I have provided a direct quote of your terms and website. It’s so very clearly misleading! This issue is now with ASA. I’ll include updates of this process and ensure it is publicised. Your position is clear and as I noted, there are many other competitors that actually provide a service.
5. I’m glad that other customers had a better experience with Chef “tapas” Ellen. Somewhat telling though that you’ve confirmed to me that a large proportion of the events she’s hosted with you haven’t left a review at all… I again note that I decided not to accept a pitiful “pay off”.

Chef Hollie was amazing.
Chef Hollie was amazing.
I requested my own menu and she followed it to a T for myself and 9 guests.
We even had a little surprise serving which was amazing and all home made.
Hollie and her server Yasmin were both professional, friendly and attentive.
Hollie’s food was delicious, hot and fresh.
Would definitely recommend.
Yhangry made it incredibly easy for me to find and book a suitable chef and the price was very fair.

Horrible Experience with Yhangry
I recently hired Yhangry for a private dinner, and it was a disaster. The chef arrived late without a proper apology, setting a terrible tone for the night.
The food was atrocious. The salad was wilted and tasteless, the overcooked steak was inedible, and the sides were either undercooked or burnt. Dessert, a grainy chocolate mousse in cheap plastic cups, was the final disappointment.
The chef's arrogant attitude made the experience even worse. Any feedback was met with sarcasm and eye-rolls. Considering the outrageous price, this was a complete rip-off. Avoid Yhangry at all costs!

Awful service
Absolute nightmare. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
I booked two highly skilled chefs for a dinner party and when I called them at 2pm to confirm timings, they stated they weren't coming. Despite a stressful afternoon, a replacement chef was found. This chef was nowhere near the quality of the chefs we paid for (prices on her profile were less than half of what we paid) and yhangry only gave us a 10% discount. The food was cooked poorly and the day was very stressful. They will not give any further refunds and it feels like they have stolen our money without giving us a fraction of what we paid for.
Reviews state that this is very common. I wish I knew before booking - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
