Hello Pauline, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm afraid we're a little confused about the ticket price you've mentioned. Adult tickets are £5 per person in April/May (with child and concession prices available). Prices do increase later in the season when the lavender is in full flower but at no time does that rise to £10 per person. If something has gone wrong with your tickets, please do contact us as we'd like to investigate for you!

Entry is only charged for the gardens themselves so guests are welcome to enjoy the plant nursery and tea room for free, the latter benefitting from an ourdoor area that overlooks the garden.

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us though, particularly the refreshed tea room which has been enjoying great reviews from visitors for the fresh new menu.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts which we'll feed back to the team.

Very disappointed on our trip here today.
Wasn't as spectacular as the site says, there should be clear warnings on the site with regards to the steep walks, clearly not suitable for those with walking conditions.
The cafe prices are ridiculously expensive, £8 for a sausage roll 😯 £9 for a toastie 😯the coffee was tepid, not hot at all.
The gift shop was very expensive as where the plants on sale.

We're so sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us last season, Suzanne.

This season, we've made some big changes to our tea room, wiht new management and a fresh new menu. I do hope you might give us another try.

Regarding the access, we are situated on in the Howardian Hills, overlooking the Vale of York so, while there are plenty of accessible areas to our gardens, it does start to slope as you get further into the fields. We have accessibility information listed on our website to help guests plan their visit.

Not what we expected unfortunately.Disappointed

we hoped to spend a relaxing day amongst the lavender fields and took our daughter and 6 week old baby along.
we purchased a picnic,(£22 each, included garden access) and although beautifully presented in a wicker hamper and blankets, we found it needed more savoury items rather than the abundance of cakes/scones (although delicious), and the sandwiches were quite mediocre. Paper plates would have been a useful addition as eating salad and coleslaw from the same box proves difficult!.
We wanted to explore the grounds (although we could see mostly all of it from where we were- so it wouldn't take long to see it all) BUT the terrain being steep and really rough and uneven made it impossible with a pram ( and yes we DID try) Why doesn't the website warn about this? We would never have contemplated it. Overall the grounds are quite uninspiring and the pond is in need of some serious attention. We were sadly disappointed overall - and we were so looking forward to it.
I have to say the staff however were friendly and helpful, but would we return? sadly no.

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us last season, Lynn. Your points are noted nd have been fedback to the team. Our tea room is under new management this year with a fresh new menu and lots of changes which may be of interest.

We're sorry you struggled with access during your visit. We do have an accessibility statement on our website which is available to help guests plan their visit. We're sorry if this wasn't clear enough.

The medium sized pond

⁹The medium sized pond, was clearly neglected. There were attempts from water lillies to flower with a significant amount of tadpoles around the edges. Please do something with this pond. There are missed opportunities to provide information about the wildlife that depend on lavender and what types of bees are seen and the birds in the area. We saw two types of birds that were in the trees. The setting is beautiful without doubt but so much more could be done.
IT HAS TAKEN TORKSHIRE LAVENDAR 10 MONTHS TO RESPOND TO MY REVIEW!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE.
There were other reviews visible that other visitors had written before my review submission about the state of the pond this was not new to YL. So there had been plenty of time to address the matter raised by others about the same thing.. The hosepipe ban was not in situ till the 11th July so there was plenty of time to do something...its strange that YL have used this excuse when car wash places were still open and using water extravagantly to wash cars but your saying saving plant and wildlife wasn't worth it. I do not accept your response at all. I still stand by what I wrote and YL should do better!!!!

Thank you for your feedback Julie. Unfortunately last season we had an extrended period of extremely dry weather, followed by a hosepipe ban which left us unable to top up the water. We did have signage around the pond to inform guests about the situation, and posted on our website and social media updated about the pond and woldlife, we're sorry if you missed these at the time.

Spammers

They have added me to a mailing list claiming that I'm on it because I signed up on their website. I did not since my browser history shows no record and I've no interest in their product anyway

Nice place to visit…

I don’t know if somebody has recently taken over the Lavender farm but I’m surprised at the bad reviews. We just visited there and found the experience a very pleasant one. The plants were all nice and healthy, the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The view from the car park is astounding. We also visited the secret garden garden centre and bought some lovely plants for our granddaughters little garden and they gave us some seeds for her to grow . All in all a very enjoyable visit

In voluntary liquidation

This company has applied for voluntary liquidation yet it appears that you can still order some things on their website.

Their other website Secret Gardening Club also allows you to buy plants as usual. Well you can order but I doubt you will actually receive any plants.

Avoid these companies.

Ordered in March

Ordered in March, incomplete order received in May, weeks overdue of estimate. Zero communication - emails completely ignored. Had to request a refund from Paypal eventually. The few plants I did receive were great but I don't have the time or patience to be chasing and re-chasing up orders and refunds. I will not be ordering again.

Update to my last review re planters…

Update to my last review re planters ordered and pre-paid in November 2021.

I've finally received a refund after countless emails back and forth, several of which confirming that my refund is on the way etc. The latest email stating that they have a new website and cannot refund back before the middle of July 2022.

I received my refund via paypal after threatening them with trading standards. If you were in a similar position to me, i suggest you follow the same route.

A rip off and one big con

Would give a zero if I could ordered plants in April for the summer . Was fobbed off time and time again . Now no replies or anything, will have to try and get a refund , which I have little hope of getting.
