Zeffy hides a donation to Zeffy when you make a donation - I found the 15% donation fee they give themselves to be very devious!

Zeffy is completely free for nonprofits, meaning that we even cover all credit card fees instead of them, so that they can receive 100% of your donation with no cut or fee. To make that possible, we invite donors to optionally contribute to Zeffy at checkout.

This is always shown before the payment is completed, can be adjusted to any amount, or set to $0 at any time. It’s never required to make a contribution to Zeffy.

I totally understand how this can come as a surprise the first time you see it, and we’re continuously working to make the experience as clear and transparent as possible.

Our experience using Zeffy.

We’ve been using Zeffy for fundraising at Friends of Kinder Velt USA, and it’s been a genuinely helpful platform for us.

The biggest benefit is the zero platform fees. For a small nonprofit, that matters a lot - more of each donation goes directly to the work instead of being eaten up by costs. Setting up campaigns is straightforward, and we were able to launch donation pages quickly without technical help.

Donors have found the experience simple and clear, and the confirmation and thank-you emails are easy to customize.

There are a few areas that could be stronger. The optional Zeffy “tip” can sometimes confuse donors if it’s not explained clearly, and reporting is solid but fairly basic if you’re running multiple campaigns. Design customization is also more limited than some larger platforms, but that’s a reasonable trade-off given the cost.

Overall, Zeffy has been a good fit for us - especially for focused campaigns where we want to keep fees low and move quickly. We’re glad to have it as part of our fundraising toolkit.

Dear Zeffy Support Team,

I am writing regarding a very serious issue with my account. Without any notice, my payouts were held, my account was unlinked, and later, after I posted a review on Trustpilot, my payments were removed from my account.

For more than 10 days, I received no reply from your team, no refund to donors, and no explanation. If payments needed to be reversed, it should have been done immediately—not after my review.

This has happened to me three times on three different campaigns, and it clearly appears unfair and unprofessional.

I have complete proof, screenshots, and all records of these actions. If Trustpilot allows or if you request, I can provide all evidence.

I request immediate action:

1. Restore my account

2. Release my held funds

3. Provide a clear explanation

Accounts that are not registered nonprofits go through stricter verification, and in this case our payment processor flagged the activity as high risk. When that happens, we are required to step in to protect donors and the legitimate nonprofits who use Zeffy. We do not allow fundraising to continue on accounts that present a high risk of fraud and that are not legitimate nonprofit organizations. Any donations that had not yet been paid out are automatically refunded to the donors.


For anyone reading this, this type of action is extremely rare and applies only to accounts with clear risk indicators, especially when they are not registered charities or nonprofits. Verified organizations using Zeffy every day are not affected by this process. This is one of the ways we keep the platform safe and maintain trust for donors and nonprofits.

The best alternative we found

Zeffy has been a great way for our NonProfit to collect money -- for events, fundraising campaigns, and other collections -- much better than trying to make do with Venmo or with other platforms that charge a fee. The record keeping and reporting functions within Zeffy are user-friendly and very helpful, and the design process for each different campaign is also very intuitive. It helps that they only work with NonProfits, so they understand us and are here to support our unique, mission-driven way of doing business.

This is the app we've been looking for!

This is the type of app we've been looking for. It's easy to use and it allows us to capture more fundraising money that we would otherwise miss out on ("Sorry I don't have any cash." "No problem, we now accept credit cards for donations!"). The zero cost is also important as all money donated goes directly and wholly to our support efforts. In addition, I am pleased a few folks, I'm guessing ~20%, donate to Zeffy's app to support them.

Double Charged 1st attempt to donate to Tafsik…

My first attempt to donate to Tafsik was blocked by a message on screen stating error, when nothing was missing.
I started back at the beginning of the process, put in everything exactly as before, and received the only evidence that donation was accepted: card was charged twice; once for the so-called failed attempt, and once for the recognized successful donation. At least I can say a worthy organization is receiving; you may however, chose to fix the technical issue for the sake of integrity.

In most cases, when an error message appears on-screen, the donation isn’t actually processed. Some banks will temporarily show a pending authorization on your statement even if the payment was declined. This authorization usually disappears automatically after a few business days if it isn’t captured by the merchant. In my three years at Zeffy, I haven’t seen a confirmed double charge occur after an error, but I’ll happily dig in once we have your details just to be sure everything is correct.

Great find in a pool of mediocre platforms

Discovered Zeffy after doing an Internet search. I chose them for my charity quiz night as they were the only platform I could find that did not charge fees to charities. As a very small charity every pound counts.
I hadn’t heard of them before but decided to go ahead and I’m very pleased I did. Setting up the account and the event were very simple and the fact that money was transferred to the charity on a regular basis after each ticket sale (not just at the end of the campaign) was very useful.
Emails went out automatically to everyone who booked plus there was also feature for me to contact people myself if I needed to. Everything was very clear on set up and I would 100% use them again and recommend them to people.
Excellent service all round.
