Do not trust them.
My experience is just as others have reported. Ziffit used to be a good company, but not now.
I sent a box of books, in good condition, carefully wrapped. The most expensive one was brand new, never read, pristine. They had offered me over £8 for it initially.
Apparently this book arrived 'without its cover' and was rejected.
How can that be ? It was NEW !!
I complained & was just referred to their T&C's.
Do not use them. You'll send good items and they will lie and won't pay you.
Missing books
I sent two boxes of books, kept the dpd receipts and after I was notified of the contents of one box ‘not received’ I tracked them and could see that both boxes were delivered on the same date, same time. I queried the discrepancy and was basically accused of dishonesty ‘ items not received despite box being sealed on arrival’. So somehow I sent a sealed empty box? I have deleted the app and will not be using this service again.
If I could give this company 0 stars I would
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. As a previous reviewer stated all of the revision cards packed in same box with books were listed as not received.
I had exactly the same wording from the company as the other reviewer. ‘On several trades items were missing…’ again absolutely a lie as I have not used this company before.
Also wished I had given the books/ revision cards to charity.
Raising the issue with trading standards. This is plain and simple theft.
Avoid!
No longer trustworthy
I'm afraid I no longer have confidence or trust in this company and I will not be using them again.
I used to use Ziffit a lot and even recommended them to friends and family, which I now regret and intend to put right.
They did occasionally claim books were 'not received', but when challenged they would double check, find the book, apologise and send the payment.
However, with my last trade not only did they (wrongly) claim the highest value book was 'not included', but within just 4 minutes of my querying this they sent an email claiming the warehouse team had 'conducted an investigation' (in 4 minutes?!!) and discovered I had sent 'several trades' with books missing, which is simply not true. They have also started rejecting books for 'dirty pages' which has not happened before.
I don't know whether these increasingly frequent errors are due to incompetence or deliberate deceit, but thankfully I have now found a trustworthy company who are pleasant and helpful to deal with, and I will not be using Ziffit again.
Update - after a lot of hassle Ziffit finally paid me the £1.60 for the 'missing' book; I notice their selling price for this book (through World of Books) is £24.24. Enough said!
Avoid at all costs!
Avoid! I was excited to use Ziffit and my first trade came to over £60 (I had three large boxes of books). In the end it said only half of them had been received. I enquired and got an automated response (the same on many of these trustpilot reviews) saying the items were not included in the boxes. I replied with all the tracking numbers of the boxes and received no response, nor was it possible to speak to anyone on the phone. I had done a second trade a week later while the first one was processing, and that was even worse. It said most of them had not been received, I only got paid for a few items despite me being promised around £25. I checked thoroughly before packing all these items. The customer service is appaling and now I'm just being ignored. It seems suspicious and more than a one off. I took a lot of time and effort doing this and it wasn't worth it, I've effectively just given my books away for nothing. I'm giving to charity next time!
DO NOT TRUST!!
DO NOT TRUST!!!
Saying they are not receiving some books and also saying some are damaged when they are all leaving here in good condition.
When I dispute this and want them back they say they have sent them to recycling.
Obviously nothing I can do due to terms and conditions other than report to trading standards.
Really feel they should be investigated for stealing and being untrue.
Miniscule cash paid/Unfair trader
The first box I sent 14 items and they paid circa £6.50. I agreed the price and received same amount as expected after they took several days to review. No problem. They sent Dpd to pickup. Free postage but the seller has to provide box and tape. However the 50p first sale voucher promised disappeared into a black hole at checkout.
The 2nd box had 10 items. I'm sure they're were 10 items when I sealed the box with gorilla tape. It was dropped off using the InPost system near Morrisons.
After several days later they awarded me not the circa £5.50 as agreed but less than £1.50. I queried this to be almost accused of not including all the items and that this was on several occasions. (On my 2nd trade!). Utter nonsense. The books were shipped. Most books were in excellent condition. They must have lost them otherwise....
The bottom line: don't bother they offer a poultry amount for each book. I'd sooner have tried a car boot sale, given them away or even kick them down the garden for fun.
Actually they make other trade-in companies look very very generous.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I sent off a collection of books in pristine condition fully anticipating a fair payout. Instead almost ONE MONTH after my courrier had delivered the items I received a meagre 10% of what I was due, with the company claiming that the majority of my items didn’t pass their “quality check”.
This entire experience felt like a scam. The books I sent were in excellent condition- certainly good enough for any second-hand books store. Their quality check seems to be a ploy to cheat you out of your earnings. There was no transparency in how they assessed the items and no way to contest their dubious conclusions since they claim the unfit items are “instantly recycled”.
Seriously avoid at all costs- if you’re looking to earn some cash for your books and save needless waste then I can recommend We Buy Books.
Lying, cheating con artists
My first, which will be my only, experience with Ziffit started ok in getting a price for 17 books I wished to sell. I duly packaged them up and they were collected by DPD. 2 weeks later I received an email stating my money was being paid but on checking it was only payment for 3 of the 17 books; all the others showed as “Not Received”. When I queried this with Ziffit replied “
Our warehouse team has conducted an investigation and has discovered that, on several occasions, some of the items were not included in your trades despite the boxes being sealed upon receipt.” a complete lie as this was my first trade
Very poor
Very poor. Sent books, CDs and DVDs. Some DVDs were brand new, all CDs were playable with minimal scratching. EVERY CD and DVD was rejected as 'damaged'. Of course they didn't return the merchandise. Do not use
Be very cautions before using this company
Ziffit were okay to start with but I recently sent a box of books that I know I packed and checked. One book was practically new and they said not accepted as pages were "dirty". The book was in pristine condition. One rare book was sent and they claimed it was not in the box. I know I packed it. They said several books were not received and I always check the items before I send. I realise errors occur but they stated that 4 or 5 books were not received which is ridiculous. I have emailed them to complain and await my reply but in the meantime I wish to warn others prior to using this service as I am concerned they are a dishonest organisation.
I didn't even complete my 'trade' with…
I didn't even complete my 'trade' with Ziffit.. offering me on average 10p per book, one for 30p, is just not acceptable. 10 decent books for £1.53? Also, I scanned lots of nice books where it came up with the wrong book and author, or said 'we are not accepting books from this author'.. I will continue to sell books on Vinted instead.
Don't bother, they will take your stuff and not pay you for it.
Do not trust them. I got a valuation but received less. They told me some of my items might have arrived in unsellable condition. It's lies as they were all in perfect condition when I sent them. They say they don't return items but recycle them. So not only have I lost money I've lost my items too.
Rip-off valuations
I thought I'd try Ziffit after buying books from World of Books. Logged in, put in the book's barcode number and waited for a valuation.... Tah dah! 70p! For a pristine hardback novel that cost £14.99 and doesn't look as if it has been touched.
Ziffit is a rip-off. It isn't worth it, don't bother. And on top of ripping you off as the seller, the author gets no royalties on second hand trades. I can get more selling my books by putting them on my garden wall with an honesty box.
I won't be using Ziffit.
Beware
Beware. Sent off lots of books. All around 10p. One set of CDs was £3, one book was £6.
Everything was accepted except the two higher values. One marked as damaged cover and one as not received. Both are false. No proof is provided and items are not returned if not accepted. The large CD set was particularly annoying as worth far more than £3 and certainly in the box.
Only use this company for their 10p offers to bulk move stuff.
Awful company
Awful company, I have brand new vinyls never been played 5 of them £25 I thought lovely I can add to the kids summer holiday fund as a lone parent any money is helpful. Sent them off only to be told they were rejected! How in the name of Christ are records that have never even been taken out of their covers rejected! So I get no records back and no money! I have emailed but judging by these reviews I will not get answer! I feel like I’ve been robbed I would have rather sold them at a bootfair! I’m disgusted this company is allowed to trade and actually comes up when searching.
What a joke this company is
What a joke this company is! Book a trade of items and their system didn't book the collection from my address, even though I followed the steps online for this. Contacted customer service who then arranged a collection with DPD, but made an admin error. Had the parcel collected by DPD, which was then sent to my address the next day, and not their warehouse. Customer service then arranged a second collection and did not provide a label, so DPD could not collect it. Awful systems and incompetent customer service with no apology for their errors. It also takes 3-4 days to arrange the next collection with DPD. Not the smooth process it should be.
Keep saying books not received which is incorrect
Had some positive experiences using the company initially but now find every box sent is 'missing' items which were definitely included. Ridiculous for 50p here, 45p there and has really eroded the trust which is so important for these type of transactions.
Seemed to start ok but now rejecting…
Seemed to start ok but now rejecting perfectly good books not worth the messing about anymore .Just to add rejection of a book due to condition is always going to be a matter of opinion. However the latest list of refusals includes 5 books that where never received.
This is complete and utter rubbish as the box was checked.Furthermore Ziffit make it quite clear they won’t return anything so if they say they never received certain titles or refuse to pay for ones you thought where in good condition there is nothing you can do
Wouldn’t surprise me if their sister company are selling books that they said you never sent
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!
Painfully slow
Customer service is shockingly bad 0/10!
They paid me 8 pound lower than quoted and gave me no reason why. Every single item I sent was in great condition, . They just reject the highest paid items so they pay you less! Cowboy company.
I found music magpie 100% the better company to use.
