I've been a member for 30 years but …..............

I've been a member for 30 years but not been there in person for 22 years following skiing injury. Internet access has got worse and I'm now shut out and have failed multiple attempts to get it going again but access from UK has been too difficult and customer service is a bad joke. The good news is that I believe my account is intact even if I can't gat at it!

Wanted to open an account online

Wanted to open an account online. However the process is obtuse and annoying. Tried to put in my dob and ssn multiple times only to find that the system doesn't recognize because of the omission of hypens and forward slashes because their system doesn't add it.

Then I find out you can't copy paste account numbers to do a transfer.

Customer Service not a priority at Zions Bank

March 14, 2025 First, let me start by saying, I am a responsible adult, I don’t bounce checks, I pay all my bills on time, and save as much as humanly possible, so I’m a good customer to have, and I don’t gripe unless I have a problem that is valid and on-going that I want to warn others about. So here goes.
On March 11, 2025, it looked like my computer might have been breached. As I do all my banking online, I called Zions Bank and put a precautionary freeze on my account. Again, I put the precautionary freeze on my account. I took my computer to Apple services that same day, they said that my computer was fine. I called Zions back the following day, and told them to go ahead and take off the precautionary freeze. They said that I’d have to come into a local branch. I live 3 states away - it’s an online bank account. As I did not have the time to argue with them, I called Zions again the beginning of April, I don’t remember the details of the conversation, but I assumed that the problem was solved - a simple freeze/unfreeze that I myself had placed.

In May, I get an automated phone call from my other main bank (not Zions) that there is an issue. Long story short, my main back locks me out due a question about a transfer issue (I assumed that it was a deposit that I had made to Zions from my main account that didn’t go through due to the fact that, unbeknownst to me, Zions was STILL frozen), and the fact that I accidentally put in a wrong code once. So now, my assets have been frozen for over 2 months at Zions, and I’m locked out of my main bank account. Four days go by, no one at my main bank is getting back to me, and Zions is responding to my emails by saying that someone will get back to me - Just a loop of, “We’ll get back to you.” So now, since these two banks are my main banks that carry my cash, I have no cash to pay my bills or grocery or whatever, and NO ONE is getting back to me. My only option is to complain to an Ombudman, which will likely take months to resolve.

I’m disgusted.

Update: Zions bank just called me back for the first time in 4 days on my work phone (12:43pm) on my home/work phone not my cell. They left no message, and if it were not for caller id, I would have never known who had called. What good is a phone call without identifying who it is or leaving a message? Now they can say that they couldn’t get a hold of me …. More bad customer service.

Charged An "Inactivity Fee" After 17 Years...

I opened a ZionsBank account in 2007. At the time the interest rates were "woo-hoo". As interest rates came back to earth, I eventually reduced my balance to $1.00. The bank dutifully sent me e-statements (~200 of them) over the years and an occasional inactivity form. At some point I stopped bothering to check the e-statements since they always showed my $1.00 was in "good-hands". Well yesterday, the bank sent me a "nasty letter" threatening to "throw me under the bus" with ChexSystems if I didn't pay the "huge sum" of $4.00. Apparently, the bank decided to start charging my $1.00 rent. I did call the bank's general customer service and the "collections" department to rescue my $1.00 to no avail. So now I'm sending four of its sibbilings ($4.00) off to ZionsBank Corp. To be sure I'm enclosing this less than glowing review with them.

Update: I few days later the bank sent another letter indicating that they charged "some accounts" inactivity fees "in error" a few months ago. They indicated that they are crediting the account (now closed) $5.09 (presumably $1.00 in the account and the $4.00 I sent them), plus 9¢ for my inconvenience. A check arrived for $5.09 a few days later. I couldn't make this up if I tried.
