NO PARTS AVAILABLE

I have had a Zmodo NVR and 8 SPOE 1080p cameras for a few years. My Zmodo SPOE Switch has died. Per an email response I received from Zmodo, the Switch is no longer available. I have since discovered that their SPOE system is not really a standard POE system and it will not work with standard POE switches. Both their Ethernet to micro USB camera cables and their SPOE switch are proprietary (and no longer available). Therefore, my system is now dead! DO NOT BUY ZMODO IF YOU HOPE TO FIND PARTS IN A FEW YEARS!

If I could leave zero stars...

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Horrible customer support, horrible online account use and there is no where on the account that I can manage my payment, renew etc. I never received notice of the renewal & when I tried to cancel, no refund was given.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION!

Horrible policy

Horrible policy. I cancelled my subscription same day as renewal and they would not refund my money. The camera is average but support is bad.

I bought a system one year ago and cannot fix it or have support from them

I bought a system one year ago, I was happy with it...until it broke. I tried to reset the device and change the hard drive... no success I contacted support because my system was stuck in Initializing mode,expecting support to help to fix it... I contacted them with their chat, sending him info and pictures...trying to fix it or buy parts.... :-( the only thing he was saying it that unfortunately, it is likely defective, and I cannot sale parts or help you to fix it..

What kind of support is that!!!!!

They said go back to the website and buy a complete new system... I told him that's what you call support!

Do not spend a dime with this company., I will buy a better system now F...them

three pack cameras

I purchased the three pack cameras and it said that they were wireless. That is a LIE!!! If you mount them outside you have to plug them into an outlet or they are not going to work. The issues that I would have gone through if I kept them. I would need an electrician to hook them up and that is what their tech person told me. They are NOT worth the money at all. I would have been better off to get something else which I did from a different company. At least now the one camera that I have IS wireless and does not cause extra money for hook up. Zmodo is a terrible outside camera.

Hit or Miss....

Not sure why all the bad reviews. But I do Pro level home automation and have set up many wired cameras with the NVR using the smart
switch systems. I do not use the WiFi based cameras as that tech is not ready for prime time yet by any company. I've only had ONE camera fail, and that camera was pounded for well over a year.

I thought it was the SPoE hub, but it was not.Plus it's WAY easy to splice into the provided micro USB cable into CAT6 for extension. However I would love if I could use my own PoE injector to power the cams.The concept is great! No more trying to fit a terminated Cat6 end into a shallow hole. I always use small water tight back boxes for ease of installation as well.And I use solid clean filtered POWER for any sensitive devices. Not just a power strip.

It's not perfect for sure. But it's one of the few companies that offers both the NVR for local recording, and Cloud based. If you take the time to setup the system properly, it's no better or worse than any other system I've installed. But I'm a bit worried about long term support and company viability.

Web site is not very convincing as the products are ALWAYS out of stock, and certain examples have been removed altogether.

I'd feel much better if I could trust the company long term, but that might prove difficult. Also, having said all that, I probably will not use them for my next build as it's just too sketchy when you offering their products. I absolutely need a company I can trust. And just for input's sake, I've had MANY RING products fail as well. But I can trust ring to be responsive and get me a replacement without any FUSS. That's what separates good companies form GREAT companies.

The panoramic camera is awesome

The panoramic camera is awesome. The outdoor cameras are pretty good. I feel the indoor night vision is ok. The charging port on one of the indoor cameras broke within a few months.
I don't like that you have to pay for cloud service for each individual camera there should be a package deal for More than 2 cameras but all in all This is a decent deal for the price.

Do not buy Zmodo wireless camera

Do not buy Zmodo wireless camera, the issue is, that if there’s a power/internet interruption ,the camera won’t reconnect automatically, you have to literally go to the power point where your camera is connected to unplug and plug it again, (bad luck if the power point located up higher the ceiling, like with yours as we have the camera outside) for the camera to be working again.and what if this will happens when you’re away? you can’t view it in your mobile on what’s going on as the device is offline.The safety is already compromised, the Zmodo support team informed me that there’s no other way to do it except to unplug/plug it if we experience another interruption,What a big SUCK!!!!!! Thought there’s a way you could do it remotely via Zmodo app but none!!!
So Find some other brand !!!!

Indoor camera won't record longer than 20 seconds, or save footage without membership.

I bought the doorbell camera, and they sent me a free mini two way wireless camera.

It all worked well until we had a storm that caused us to lose power.

I got the base unit to connect to wifi, got the doorbell working, but now, every other camera and accessory, can not be connected.

App keeps saying to connect to ZMD_SAP, which never shows up!
I have reset the base unit, and each device, and as soon as the base unit is connected to the internet, ZMD_SAP goes away, and none of the other devices can be reconnected.
It is just useless now!

Update: Since I posted this review, the doorbell camera stopped working, so it has been replaced.
I still have the indoor camera, but without paying for a subscription to unlock longer recording or the video storage, it is useless.
I would not recommend this brand to anyone unless they open up the camera for full access so as the owner I van view the feed, and see all my recordings, without having to be a subscriber.

If I could give this company negatives…

If I could give this company negatives I would! Horrible service, I called to cancel my subscription 7 months ago and come to find out they have been charging me every since! I called to let them know and they would refuse to credit me anything. Where very rude and did not want to understand my situation. They had recordings of me calling and asking for FINAL. Invoices but have not record of canceling service meanwhile the camera was turned off on day of call! Horrible company will never use again. Who doesn’t have access to the services that you pay for? How can they not tract of the service has been used? That’s insane, they only care about taking your money! Do not recommend!

Poor customer service

I bought this security cameras after reading reviews about all good but inexpensive cameras. I have been trying to set up my cameras since I bought them. I even updated the wi-fi in my home
to make the reception better. Still having problems getting it to work. have tried to contact customer service by email and live chat with no success. Don't know what to do. At this point, it has been a total waste of money! Do yourself a favor and don't buy Zmodo!

Do not buy these garbage $29…

Do not buy these garbage $29 cameras...I bought 2 and within only 2 weeks 1 camera shows completely black and nothing i do fixes it.. The other camera went offline even tho my Wi-Fi is working perfect and nothing I do will reconnect it.. Don't waste your money on these cheap cameras they are absolute junk.

I purchased 4 1080p mini cameras…

I purchased 4 1080p mini cameras wireless 2 way audio on Walmart app.. I got them in the mail. I also purchased them for my neighbor. We started on his first. Make sure you do internet test speed first to see what your upload and download is. Download needs to be at 15 or higher and must have regular internet and NOT SAT internet as it will not work. I had dish Network SAT and I told them that after speaking to them on the phone for HOURS..I spent 2 freaking days on this. Also, I had to take the cameras down to put them by WIFI Router as I could not get them to connect (to turn a solid blue). It was hell as their steps wouldn't work. The representative had to give me a website login to get them to turn blue..One of the cameras would not turn blue so had to do the others and finally got it. I was told it was a firewall issue and need to call my internet provider to lower settings. I called and was on hold with them 20 min..to tell me we don't do that..so I called Netgear my Wireless router and he said not to do that. After being on them over an hour and a half I got no where. I called Zmodo customer service Again and waited 30 min to speak to someone... Finally I asked for a manager. She said Sat Internet will not work. Total talk time this time was 2 hrs. I am in the process of getting a new internet provider where it will be wired in..then cancel dish Network SAT Internet order for my cameras to work. Total nightmare. My neighbor I hooked up his cameras did just fine as he has wired internet. They work great on his phone.
