It took 6 months for belongings to arrive
We moved from Australia's Sunshine Coast to Christchurch, New Zealand and used OSS for our move.
Here is our experience:
The Good: Both the teams that packed up our home in Australia and unpacked in New Zealand were amazing. Super friendly and efficient, and none of our household goods were damaged during the moving process (except for mould; more on that below). They were a pleasure to work with.
The Bad: It took 6 months for our belongings to arrive in New Zealand. Our goods were only shipped after we implied to our move manager that we'd take further action, as we felt their business sales practices were misleading.
During an initial phone call with OSS World Wide Movers in October 2024, the sales rep told me it would take "up to" 10 to 12 weeks (about three months) for our goods to arrive in NZ, due to use of a shared groupage container. (Although they also indicated it might be much quicker.) Meanwhile OSS's website says that it can take 8 to 16 weeks. We were happy with that as a timeline.
The movers packed up our belongings on December 3, 2024. Given the timelines we had been told by OSS, we expected to receive our belongings by late February 2025/early March 2025 at the latest.
In the end, our belongings arrived on May 26, 2025. That means it took 25 weeks or 6 months for our goods to be shipped from Brisbane, Australia to Christchurch, NZ (which, let's face it, isn't a massive distance).
Our goods spent those six months in warehouse where the conditions were (to quote an OSS staff member): "warm and hot." In other words: Great conditions for mould and mildew. But, of course, one of the exclusions on the insurance policy we bought through OSS was mould.
Communications also weren't great. We received next-to-no updates from our move manager, unless I reached out to them directly.
In the end, we had to pay thousands to stay in an Airbnb because OSS failed to deliver our belongings within the advertised timeline.
